The Avengers The Official Wasp, Ant-Man & Giant Man Casting Thread

Agreed, i'm not a reader of Ant-Man, all i know is from wikipedia and The Ultimates but his movie is the one i'm most looking forward after the avengers, why? Because of the director and because his ideas can make one of the best comic book movies ever.
But i would say put Avengers on 2016 or later so that they can make movies with other characters we didn't see yet
My problem with the Edger Wright ant man movie is its about Scott Lang and not hank Pym.
I love Hank Pym i hate how the comics focus so much on him hitting his wife. I dont think there is ever an excuse to hit a woman let alone ur wife but cheese and rice lets move on the man is a hero and a good person (as far as fictional characters go anyway)

Put down that weed.

My problem with the Edgar Wright movie is that it's not in continuity with the Avengers, it's its own separate thing.

so only a spy knows what they are looking for???? This is the dumbest thing I have heard of.
Cap: "Antman we need you to sneak into the base and collect data for us."
Antman: "On it"
2 hours later Antman comes out
Antman:"What was I supposed to look for?"
Sure a scientist whose job is to observe and interpret things would never make a good spy

Please reply outside of the response you're quoting, roach. There's no reason that quoting you should be tedious.

Straw man arguements aside, either spies are trained, or they're not. If they're trained, being able to simulate part of their training (sneaking in) doesn't make up for the other parts of their training: gathering information that's not obvious, providing false information, hacking, etc. Are you saying Hawkeye and Black Widow aren't trained intelligence operatives?

So what you are saying is that it would be groundbreaking and new to have a giant superhero....im sure we could all think of something that was looked at as silly that when taken seriously became a huge hit.
Exactly, because it took a 2hr movie to develop it into something serious, not because they shoehorned it into a team up movie.

As much as I love Hawkeye and Blackwidow...on this team they dont bring anything to the table that any of the other members can.
Hawkeye shoots arrows...Cap throws a shield that returns to his hands, Thor throws a hammer that returns to his hands
Black widow espionage and martial arts....I'd say Bruce has the advantage on espionage since he avoided both Shield and Army Intelligence for several years....which are you gonna notice first....the hot red head or the unremarkable guy
Hawkeye's a sniper. He has the training, equipment and costume in order to line up a crucial shot while not being noticed. Cap and Thor don't have that. Black Widow has the advantage on espionage, because espionage is more than just 'avoid detection,' and she's been doing it longer and on a higher level. Movie Banner never avoided SHIELD, for instance.

They bring something to the team, and it is small because their parts are small because that's all there's room for with Fury, Cap, Thor and Iron Man running around. They won't make the movie suck by including them. They're just a better option, man. It's not because G-Man's a bad character, just that there's no room for him this time around.

Also, there's the fact that Giant Man's not in this one.

Yes it is, that's why he wont be in avengers

Yeah, I'm thinking the movie may now be about a modern Hank Pym again, it'd be much cooler than Scott Lang.

I'd be willing to bet on it.
The movie should've been about Hank (and Janet) all along instead of Lang; I'm sure that all the rewrites are coming from Marvel steering Wright towards an MFU-friendly story.

How hard is it to gather information???? Pepper did it in IM...she's not a spy..with equipment from Tony who is not a spy himself.
What False information needs to be given? The guy is the size of an ant. You'd have to be looking for an ant sized man to find him.
Hacking??? Only spies hack??? Ask Sony of thats the case with their PSN....Newscorp reporters were hacking people's phones...are they spies???

I hope Edgar casts Hank at least before The Avengers comes out. There's always a chance if he casts him in March or somthing that a quick scne could be filmed, maybe with Hank coming up to Fury and saying "I've done it sir" or something like that, and Fury just says "not now, Pym." Nothing to big or obvious, but enough to keep the fanboys happy.

Gathering the right information at the right time is very difficult, that's why people who do it well get paid so much.

Since you're using IM as an example, let's look at IM2. Black Widow had a mission to observe and gather information on Tony, as well as to deceive him into believing she was a mere assistant. She could do this because she's a world class spy. Jan, great a character she is, could not have gotten close to Tony, developed a psychological evaluation, and hacked Vanko's network to free Rhodey. She could have broken into Vanko's hideout, even shrunk down and hung out on Tony's shoulder for a few days/weeks but she wouldn't have known what to look for psychologically to file a comprehensive book-sized report for SHIELD, because she's not trained to. She just can't replace ALL the things a great spy does. Just one.

The point is, and has been demonstrated that BW and Hawkeye bring things to the table that Giant Man and Wasp don't. Now, there *are* things that Hank and Jan can do that BW and Hawkeye can't: tanking, for instance, brain and heart surgery without an operating room or anasthetic, for instance. But don't confuse their strengths for omnipotence. There are plenty of things that other 'weaker' characters can do that they can't - the most important of which, in this case, is walk into an action movie without an origin sequence.

What do you think about that? How do you imagine Hank and Jan fitting into the overall storyline of Avengers?

Don't bet on a movie as safe as captain america, this one will probably take much more risks, and stop calling MFU, it's MCU: Marvel cinematic universe

You're absolutely right. With Edgar Wright this movie will definitely be taking more risks, but at least unlike Captain America we'll get a superb movie.

Here are my choices for Hank & Jan and they were both at one time under the Whedon eye :woot:

SLJ calls it the "MFU" the mutha... you get it.

If not an in-movie cameo, I wonder if we could get an Ant-Man tease as a post-credit scene for Avengers. They usually shoot those pretty late in the filming, and typically by the director that's shooting the upcoming movie. Wright and Marvel have more than enough time to make that happen.
I had a dream about this, although Pym had a weird gold helmet.
And is wasn't at the end of Avengers, it was some different movie that had nothing to do with Marvel. So now that I think of it, it didn't really make sense at all.
Dreams are weird.
