The Official will.i.am/John Wraith Discussion Thread

I don't mind will.i.am in this.

But I do hope that, if he is a teleporter, the FX for the teleportation are very different to those of Nightcrawler in X2.

I think they might be the same for continuity reasons. Then again, they altered the Phoenix's powers.

For inquiring minds, yes they could of chosen a much better Black Actor then Will I. Am. However, the studio suits say they always see a surge in ticket sales when they include a rapper in a blockbuster film.

Well, Nightcrawler and John Wraith are different characters, so their teleportation may not work in the same way. I don't just want to watch an African-American Nightcrawler. I want something we haven't seen before. There are many ways a teleporting effect could be done. The FX in Jumper, and on the guy in Chronicles of Riddick, and on Star Trek's transporter, and the machine in Prestige, are all very different. I think Nightcrawler's blue bamfing should be kept for Nightcrawler.

I hope it's different. I didn't like how there were mutants (from the Brotherhood) that teleported like Nightcrawler in the final X3 battle.

They don't. Wraith fades silently in when he teleports, like a chameleon changing colors. There is no tell-tale scent or sound with him like when Nightcrawler teleports.

Let's hope we get something like that in the movie.

hopefully wraith will have some good fight scenes.. and hopefully Will gets billed under his real name..

I'm sure they'd credit him under his real name.

And with the budget this is running with (I think, what, one-hundred and twenty million?), they'll have some superb action sequences.

Is it true that you’ve got a part in the new X-Men movie?

I did a good job when I read for the part. I feel real confident about my role and my execution on my role in the movie. I’m Wolverine’s best friend Logan in the movie. I love it. That’s my favourite movie out of all of them. Spider-Man’s cool but I like X-Men. Matrix, Lord of the Rings, X-Men - that order.

Probably just meant he's Logan's best friend, but mixed up his words or something. The whole quote is kinda weird, lol.

You star in the new Wolverine film alongside Hugh Jackman - do you have trouble remembering your lines there?
No, that's easy because you're going off of the emotion. I don't want to tell you a specific scene, but they'll say: "Okay, we're picking up from mid-argument" and we just go. Rapping is different because it's rhyme and rhythm.

Have you enjoyed the filming?
It just doesn't seem real for some reason. Maybe it's because I'm sleepy. Even working with Michael Jackson seemed real, even though it was, you know, surreal, but the Wolverine thing seems like a big dream.

Oh please god let this be the case.

If they do somehow merge Dog Logan with John Wraith I will not be a happy bunny.

I can't believe they cast this guy. Every time he says something he shows how little he knows and how much he doesn't belong.

Will.I.Am Reveals Details About His Big-Screen Debut In 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine'

I'm a newbie when it comes to big action films,' Black Eyed Peas rapper says of a few bumps and bruises he got on the flick's set.
By Larry Carroll, with reporting by Yasmine Richard

LOS ANGELES — Through five decades, three movies and hundreds of comic books, James "Logan" Howlett has been attempting to sift through the clues and figure out the exact nature of his origin. For nearly three years, "X-Men" fanboys have been doing the same, knowing only that their favorite razor-clawed rebel is getting a spinoff that explains his backstory.

And now, Black Eyed Peas rapper Will.I.Am
is offering up some rare clues about his feature-film debut opposite Hugh Jackman's iconic superhero in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine."

"I'm a teleporter. ... I'm here, I'm there, I'm everywhere. Boom, boom, boom!" Will revealed. "My character's name is John Wraith. He's a black Texan. He's not a cowboy, but his gear suggests that he is. He's just a badass who'll whoop your ass."

Will has been whooping some butt himself in the four months since he landed his first film role, touring the world with the Peas, winning an Emmy last week for his Barack Obama "Yes We Can" video, and even landing a voiceover gig in November's highly anticipated "Madagascar" sequel. But while he's never been one to hide his "Wolverine" excitement, he revealed to us that the role cost him a lot of blood, sweat and tears.

"You see that little scar I've got on my knuckles?" he asked, holding up his hand. "I'm a newbie when it comes to big action films and stuff. ... It was my fight scene. I was real into it, and then I missed my mark, and I punched the camera and broke the lens!

"But that goes to show you," he grinned. "I ain't to be messed with, because I break lenses!"

Discussing the scene a bit further, Will revealed that once director Gavin Hood replaced his camera lens, he had the rapper/actor run through the battle quite a few more times. "I missed a couple marks," he laughed. "They'd say, 'OK, come in, hit your mark, turn to the left ... and, action!' I missed my mark! 'All right, take two!' So I missed my mark a couple of times, then I got the hang out of it: Boom! Pow! It probably took me 50 times, but I got it. It was hard for me, but it was cool and fun at the same time."

These days, Will is putting the finishing touches on the May 2009 film and enjoying a pair of new friendships. "Hugh Jackman's the coolest dude," he marveled. Then, speaking about the villainous Sabretooth, he added: "And Liev Shreiber? That dude's my homey.

"It was a really good experience," Will said of the flick, which also stars Ryan Reynolds, Dominic Monaghan, Danny Huston and "Friday Night Lights" star Taylor Kitsch. "It's my first movie. ... And with 'Madagascar 2,' I think there has to be an angel or something or my grandma's prayers guiding that. It's pretty, pretty dope. And I'm grateful and happy about it all."

Cool. That sounds true to the comics.

hopefully the fight scenes won't get cut and everything will be in there for the final film.. i hope fox doesn't do this like what happened with Incredible Hulk.. the movie should be at least 2.25 hours...

I think he's quite significant character in the Weapon X/Team X story.

Right. And he was killed by Sabretooth. That could make for an interesting scene.

Pics?

Extra late with this, but better late than never, right?

Maverick and Sabes fight, Sabretooth wins, seriously injuring Maverick
(which ultimately forces him to become Agent Zero)
. After the fight:
