Days of Future Past The official X-men First Class BD/DVD thread

So i can see X-Men Origins:Deadpool when it comes I am just pretending X-men Origins:Wolverine never happened.Both can't be considered part of X-Men series.You
could flashforward through the entire Xavier walking and finding Cyclops and other
mutants If you want to still view It with other films I guess.

I just pick out what I liked from X3 (there are a couple things) and XM:W and then make up my own storylines. It's much more fun that way, IMO.

And as for Emma Frost--yeah, I just picture that the "Emma" in XM:W is her daughter or something. Looks like she could be, so why not? Doesn't Emma end up on the side of good eventually? Maybe having a kid or two made her re-think to whole destroying the world idea. :)

Well you could also view Last Stand with First Class If you flashforward the opening
scene and the Xavier teaching class with video of Moira and not watch the post credits
scene.

If you skip over the begining of X-Men Origins:Wolverine through wolverine leaving
team X You could view it and Deadpool In cannon.

Read a few reviews of the Blu Ray. I like what I'm hearing. Many say its refernce quality picture and audio:up:

I heard today that there are reports of playback issues on this first shipment of the blu-ray. I was going to pick it up this week, but it might be better to wait until this is corrected.

Anybody else hear about issues playing the feature on the blu-ray?

I just got the Blu-ray today and cycled through the scenes and didn't notice any problems on the menu or otherwise. People are saying that the movie is freezing and there are problems on the PS3? I'm using a PS3.

Any connection to past X-Men films In First Class sequels will probally just be X-men and X2.Now they may not be so obvious about it and have characters like Gambit,Blob, and Angel appear and outright say Last Stand and wolverine aren't cannon.

With X4 looking more and more unlikely It's up to fans to view rather they want to view The Last Stand with other films. However they are doing all they can to distance themselves from X-Men Origins:Wolverine.

Thats all speculations for now, which is hardly gonna happen.

I picked up my Blu-ray of the movie today along with my 3D blu-ray of Thor, good stuff, it was such a great movie, I'm looking forward to seeing the extra goodies!!!:xmen::awesome::up:

Same here, although I didn't go for the 3D Thor set. I got the Best Buy exclusive slipcover Blu-ray, then picked up the the 3 disc exclusive of First Class from Target. Gonna dig into some Marvel goodness this weekend. It'll be a Marvel-thon!

Easy for me. If Deadpool is going to blatantly contradict other movies, then I won't consider it part of the X-Men movies. Deadpool is it's own thing.

As for Emma, the Blu Ray addresses that - Emma Frost simply gets captured by Stryker later in the timeline following the events of X-Men: First Class. I still don't like what they did with Emma in X-Men Origins: Wolverine by making her Kayla's sister, but that's the timeline according to the studio that owns the film rights.

Sounds like a plan,:thor::xmen: I'll probably do the same!!!:D:up:

Meh...the actress is a teenager, so I find it hard to swallow that. But it's fiction--you can go with what the studio gives you, what the comics give you, or your own ideas. I mean, the movies don't follow the comics and even the comics have different universes and dimensions. Pick what you want.

I like the idea she's Emma's daughter, so I'll go with that. :)

Emma Is In her twenties In first Class.Yet In Wolverine set In late 70's or early 1980's she Is now a teenager?

My advice Is you want to view all the films together Is do what I did this week. When you
watch films use chapter selection and fashforwarding to create you own fanedited viewing of wolverine and Last Stand that can allow you to watch them with other films. As far as I am concerned about emma In wolverine that Is Silverfox's sister not Emma frost.I flashforward all the scenes In finale with just the mutants when wolverine Is fightining
Weapon x.I start watching when wolverine Is with Silverfox. Thus Deadpool was never In
wolverine. At end It's weapon XI not deadpool he Is fighting.

That seems like a LOT of work to enjoy a movie. For me it's easier to just forget XOWoverine ever existed :D

Yeah I bought two copies this weekend. Both would randomly freeze for a brief second at random parts throughout the movie.

You said the key phrase: its fiction.

Comics have retcons and inconsistencies. A film series with 5 movies over 10 years with 4 directors, dozens of producers and however many writers and actors, based on a source material of 40-50 years of inconsistent source material is bound to have some inconsistencies of its own.

I simply accept that Emma frost is an continuity issue. It doesn't equate to a reboot / new series. Most movie series have some kinds of continuity issues. Air tight continuities like lord of the rings or harry potter aren't the norm. Even star wars isn't air tight.

Star Wars continuity was pretty awful tbh.

If anyone has a problem with XO:W and its continuity then they might as well ignore it altogether. You're missing nothing.

With X4 looking more and more unlikely and the Wolverine trying to distance itself
from X-Men origins;Wolverine It may be best to just ignore The Last Stand and
Wolverine.Flashforwarding and skipping Is only way you can view those 2 films with
other films now.Plus In first Class sequels I can almost gurantee you if Cyclops and
Jean grey are Introduced they will not stick with how Xavier met them.Fox may claim In interactive feature Last Stand and wolverine are cannon but that Is like the Bond producers claiming Casino royale,QOS,and next film are 21,22,and 23 Bond films.
And the plan for Terminator 5 If It gets made Is to Ignore T3,and Salvation.Having got my DVD from Amazon today First Class plays pretty well with X-men and X2.

Only purchased one from amazon and got it friday (although I do have the HMV Box Set on pre-order, I love me my box sets...), watched it sunday night...Mine just took forever to load up....no freezing issues......yet.

im hearing that too. also if you have a samsung blu ray player you won't be able to watch either. even with the most recent firmware update on 9/9/11 it doesnt work. luckily that isnt my only player but it still sucks beyond measure. im gonna go home tonight and try emptying my bd utilites like ive been reading but ive been hearing mixed results with that as well. if worse comes to worse im gonna seriously consider buying the dvd or going to target to buy the combo pack.

I have a Samsung Blu-ray player, and I haven't had any problems at all.

I think it's people just getting faulty discs.

I watched it on my PS3 a few days ago and it worked fine. My roommates borrowed it and watched it on their Samsung Blu-ray player and it also worked perfectly fine.

My copy still skips.... :( I already traded it in once. I use a PS3.

Still no news on this eh? I've already done the BD Utility Folder thing. It still skips.

When are we going to know good or bad this film is doing with DVD sales?

I'm curious to see if this is succeeding. They were blowing up the marketing campaign, so it seems FOX really wants this to sell(it should, great film).

And THOR has been selling very well apparently.

I don't need to flash forward through anything to see the films in continuity with each other.

The connections are WAY stronger than any inconsistencies.

The prequel easily bowed at No. 1 on both the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart and Nielsen’s dedicated Blu-ray Disc sales chart, outselling its nearest competitor, the Universal Studios actioner Hanna ($40.2 million), by a margin of more than 4 to 1 (Blu-ray Disc, 5 to 1).

Sounds great!
