Patriot getting that powerful means they could get rid of "Stature" or something then it would be the opposite ratio of the runaways with so many girls. I like where there going with this except how the shield stopped 30th century weapons and not a modern kree one? Sure it gives them a reason but ......!@#!@$%@#!% and that shield was way cooler looking then caps... and his original costume without the scales.
I can understand the part about being a criminal, since he would be breaking the new registration laws, but "potentially dangerous?" What, did they think that Patriot was going to all of a sudden attack them without provocation or something? That's a very shoot first, ask questions later sort of attitude, and while it might be legally defensible under the new laws -- which are questionable enough as they are -- I don't think anyone can argue that it was very moral.
Never said it was. Just saying, it may not get them in any trouble.

Kind of sucks that his brain is part of the cybernetic stuff. A nice organic brain full of free-will goodness would've kept him from having to deal with that whole reprogramming-as-an-evil-bastard threat.
Even if he had an organic brain or whatever that wouldn't stop him from being programed to kill heros. They do that sort of thing to people all the time.
Hmm, it will be a shame if CIVIL WAR #2 ships before YOUNG AVENGERS #12, otherwise we'll be in all sorts of continuity conumdrums. Marvel pretends that late books don't mean squat, but they do.
X-MEN/RUNAWAYS: Basically this was an 11 page short story by Vaughan and Scottie "I ruined New Warriors" Young. A simple story that introduces the team and has them meet/fight the X-Men, while still being true to continuity and being relevant to readers of both. Plus, given the decompression of modern stories, telling a complete story from beginning to end in 11 pages is lost art these days. Basically,
the Runaways are looking for Old Lace, who's run away from the Frogger for plot convience, and meet the X-Men, who have swooped in to collect Molly for their school (given that she is a mutant minor without parents, like about half their students). The Runaways refuse and basically give them attitude, and a short brawl ensues. Highlights include Vaughn's banter, and Colossus being unfazed by Molly tossing a car at him. Downsides include the utterly cheeseball way Cyclops was "punked", and that he has to be talked into being more passive by EMMA FROST of all people. Beast and Chase also have an amusing interlude. In the end, Old Lace is found and the X-Men leave, and Gert has a short chat with Kitty, who both have something in common (not being combat junkies, and having pet lizards).
Nothing groundbreaking, but definately entertaining. As for the art, well, you get what you pay for. Also includes some other stories that I didn't have much interest in.

Quite true. INFINITE CRISIS itself ran about a month late.
But, quite frankly, "its okay because DC does it" is not a viable option for Marvel. Marvel shouldn't do or defend itself for not doing something because "DC does it". They should strive to be BETTER.

I totally agree. Its just as youve probably noticed theres a lot of Marvel hate going around for similar things DC is doing as well. But since DC's books are better in quality(I know you can argue this, but its the genreal consensus) they seem to get a free pass on the fanboy hate.

Definately. I think because a lot of posters who are frustrated with Marvel have seen that DC seems to be doing better with "honest to goodness" superheroics, and their books have been the best they've been in 10 years. Plus, DC's still technically the underdog, being outsold by Marvel overall each month. Everyone loves the underdog.
I simply feel that the justification of "well, DC does it" is playground logic and not one that is terribly efficient, espeically when people who have control of the industry say it.
Unfortunately, lateness seems to be par for the course for writers from TV, film, and otherwise where comics aren't there "day job". This should teach Marvel to have some caution for seeking these people out regardless of their talent, but it won't. "Other media" writers are just as varied as comic writers; you have your Hudlins in one corner and your Whedons and Heinbergs in another.

Anyone else notice how huge they made Old Lace in the crossover?
Also, was the Leapfrog really ever used by the West Coast Avengers like they said in the first volume of Runaways? I thought I remembered hearing that from the Hayes family.
