I was watching 300 on New Year's Eve and I started thinking if Snyder gets Superman spot on, he can direct all the movies I've been wanting made: Dragon Ball Z, The Sword of Truth, Left 4 Dead... pretty much anything he wants to do.

I think a dragon ball Z film done right would be something to behold.

*pours one for my dead dream of a good Dragon Ball movie ever being made*

Honestly, i think Snyder would do something decent with that live action Bleach movie they claim they want to do.

If we're looking at Snyder's past work, his complete commitment to being non-committed to reality, his at times grandiosity in his ridiculousness, there is only one thing he should do.

New Gods.

Why stop there?

Good to hear I'm not the only one who thinks Zack Snyder could make an epic DBZ film. :D

Snyder is the man when it comes to a good R rated action film IMO. I cant think of anyone else in recent who's better (theres probably someone I just cant think of him) Its funny that hes doing "Truth Justice and the American Way" Superman. I think he'll do fine. I JUst wouldve expected him to do Blade or Ghost Rider or something of that sort

I dont think DBZ should ever be live action. Especially with Snyder, he likes to slow things down which is fine by me for the most part. But DBZ is fast paced with has lightning quick fights. I dont think Snyder's signature style will go well for it.

Now Left 4 Dead I can see that being good with him at the helm

gears of war made by Snyder would be epic
He is the only director I can think of who would be great for that. Its right up his alley

When you think of films merely in terms of visuals, Snyder could be the man for everything.
You think Snyder's only good at visuals? Seems like something you would bring up upon his being announced as director.

does'nt mean thats all he can do he gets good performances out his actors and has put together pretty good films

people act like zack is this incompetent fool who loves pretty colors

snyders visuals may transcend his other talents as a director, but it doesnt make his other talents null and void.

Question is...do they 'transcend' the other talents...or compensate for them? Depends on who you ask, I guess.

They transcend the other talents.

I didn't like Watchmen just because it was pretty.

Well...I didn't like Watchmen as a movie, but it was pretty-much translated right from the original comic, as was 300 for the most part. Haven't seen eth owl movie.

Basically, what gave me more confidence with the decision to go with Snyder was the fact that Goyer/J. Nolan were providing the script. So hopefully there's enough of a good screen story there so that Snyder can bring his visual flair and impact to it. Could be just the kind of combination that the franchise needs.

Even though it was an adaption, it proved to me that he could handle the themes that were in the original story.

So yeah, if the movie is good, it will be because of Nolan, not Snyder. Got it. :whatever:

I would have rather seen more of a reinterpreted adaptation for a movie, or better yet a mini-series, but that's just my take on it.

No, not just because of them, obviously. But just based on their work with C. Nolan on the Batman movies, you'd hope to see some of that screen storytelling skill carried over but with a distinctly more epic and fanstastical visual style which Snyder can do in spades.

But did he or did he not manage to handle the serious themes that were present in the movie?

But when you take this stance, any scene that has any thematic depth is attributed to Nolan when it could easily be Snyder.

I didn't get that vibe from KalMart at all. What I think he means is that with great, solid screenwriting it will be nothing but beneficial to Snyder.

Depends on how you look at 'handle'. The choice of doing such a literal translation...without reshaping it more as a screen story...is what I didn't quite like. I felt it either needed to be reinterpreted for a feature film, or spread out over a miniseries to sink in better. In being so close to the comic in one film, it kind of emphasized why it, in particular, works better as a comic. So even though those 'serious themes' were there, they weren't quite as accessible in that format as they could have been....especially for those who didn't read/know the original comic.

I prefer to look at it as a collaboration.
