Aguero going to City for £35m apparently. For the price of an Andy Carroll you can get a Sergio Aguero. :hehe:

I can understand that mate, we've only signed 2 average keepers and Michael Brown I'm at the stage where I'm looking forward to the season starting... but not Leeds' season if you get me. The thing with the signings you lot have made is that they've been kinda obscure which doesn't help when many of the mainstays like Nolan and Carroll have left, I think they'll do well mind and I think Demba Ba will be a great signing. Agreed aswell about the corruption going on at the top table of the game, it's actually a blessing that Leeds are in the Championship as it's not something I have to really take too much of an interest in!

Agreed on the international front, used to love watching Venable's, Hoddles, Erikssons England and even Mclarens to an extent. But I can't for the life of me get behind Fabio and I'm not too thrilled about the rumours of sloppy chops Redknapp being the next man either. I just hate the the way now it's more of an obligation to represent your country rather than a honour.
What are the chances of promotion this season you think?

When you put it like that :cmad::cmad::cmad:!!!

Still I'll be glad to to be able to watch him play regularly. One of the few individual players at the moment who I can be bothered to turn the TV on to watch even if they're playing in a match/for a team I'm not interested in.

I'm completely apathetic towards the new season in truth.

I'm not particularly urging for the new season to begin like I usually am, part of the reason is because for about the third summer in a row it doesn't feel like our squad has been improved enough to take us to that next level.

I do feel we've made some improvments in the signing of Young, Jones & De Gea & shifting Brown, O'Shea & hopefully Gibson.

However we've also lost Scholes, van der Sar & to a lesser extent Hargreaves... meaning we've not really improved that much at all.

It also feels like another summer in which an area that has been our weakest for a handful of seasons has still went unstrengthened. That being said I did read Sir Alex's comments that he doesn't expect to sign anyone else before the season begins because the type of player he wants or is looking for just isn't available on the market at present. I can appreciate that, he only wants the best players at the club & after seemingly failing to bring both Sneijder & Nasri who look set to stay at their clubs for another year, he doesn't want to go out & buy what would be his third, possibly even his forth choice player in said position.

Theres no point in signing a player if realistically they are going to offer no great improvment on what we already have. Sneijder &/or Nasri would have definatly been an improvment on Carrick, Anderson or Fletcher.. but a variety of the other names I'm seeing mentioned I personally don't feel would be a massive improvement on what we've already got.. at least instantly anyway.. and if we're gonna wait for them to develop with the team we might as well try that with players like Cleverly & Pogba who look like future players if they keep progressing..

If West Ham, Blackpool, Leicester, Brighton, Southampton, Forest, Cardiff etc weren't in the division we'd have a decent chance..... of making the top 10 :cwink:
Little to none in all honesty mate, we have one of the smallest budgets in the division (despite having the biggest ground, the highest attendances, the most expensive season tickets and shirts), we certainly have the least ambition it's just same old, same old. Last season was our big chance, Norwich saw that the division wasn't all that, they made some good loan signings and got there. We just bottled it AGAIN!

I wonder if Joey Barton ever regrets leaving City? All this talk of Aguero and Tevez it isn't that long ago that Barton was the City talisman.

Yeah, great signing! :hrt: CTID

Absolutely, about time I think they made a major signing like this.

Wonder if Tevez would like to play with Aguero...Also, Balotelli has got to go

Not sure if Tevez can play in same XI with Kun. Mancini did say he wants to play a little bit different this season, more attractive football. And Mario was almost always in the same team with Dzeko on tour so would expect: Balo - Dzeko - Kun with David Silva as No. 10. But could change if we'll sign Nasri. Then would expect Edin on the bench.

Anyone got the feeling that Aguero could flop in the PL?

Other than that, City are going to be a real force to be reckoned with next season. Their squad is immense.

There will be an adjustment period...But if David Silva can pull it off then Aguero can too I think

Haha, that's a shame and also strange when you are such a well supported club for the division. Whether anyone likes Leeds or not they are much bigger than a lot of the clubs currently in the Prem & it is a weaker place with their absence. Hope you can turn it around soon mate.

Hope not. Always a bit unpredictable coming from the continent. Might get homesick/sick of no sun or his missus might! If he stays & plays regularly with no upset in his private life I think he'll be great. Not that many Prem guys have the flair, X-factor & ability to beat players that he can bring.

EDIT: Btw been meaning to ask. How far along is this deal at the moment?

city have been making signings like this every transfer window for the last few years...

I think he means a marquee signing, players like Ballotelli, Dzeko, Silva and even going back players like Lescott they're big money signings but they aren't big name players. Which I can sorta see but it's easy to forget how highly sort after Robinho was when they signed him.

@Iceman cheers man, good luck to you boys aswell.

i think silva fits the bill as a marquee, possibly Dzecko too
....tevez....robinho.....adebayour....toure.....

The first 2 for sure but Adebayour, Toure and Dzeko wouldn't have the same impact around europe as say Ronaldo's move to Real Madrid. Whereas this transfer looks huge as a team like Real were very much interested in the player.

Yeah...we'l see though...

The way City seem to do their business, I'd expect it to be officially anounced either later on today or tomorrow.

well noone really has the same impact as ronaldo!

i think Dzeko was huge in jan, lots of clubs wanted him etc.. and Adebayour was the star player of a club that were in a better place than city

I agree, it's about time City started spending money.

It's probably the best thing for him honestly. I can see some English club taking a chance on him but I doubt he'd want to go play for a Blackburn or some club like that.

All that money spent and with Tevez out they have the stirke force of Adebayor, Balotelli & Roque Santa Cruz! Not great work in the transfer market. I think Aguero is a cut above those transfers mentioned earlier, basically the 1st tier behind Ronaldo & Messi.

The title race could be intriguing next season (though I wish for this every season & am usually disappointed). With Utd not getting Sneijder or Nasri they should stay in catching distance (with one of those I think they would be stronger favourites). Chelsea (Torres form could be crucial) & City with Aguero should mount realistic challenges. Liverpool I expect to do much better, maybe not win but finish much nearer the top than they have done recently. Like within 6 points. Arsenal I think need to improve (or get zero injuries all season) to keep pace with the others & if they don't buy effectively could be outside the top 4. Not sure what's happening with Spurs & their incoming/outgoing transfers but it should be exciting times in the top 6 with hopefully the leader and the composition of the top 4 changing from week to week.
