This is thread to discuss open-source computing such as GiMP, LINUX, BSD, GNOME, KDE, etc. Take the time to talk about Open-source Culture and maybe even learn a thing or two about LINUX or GNU.

There are many possible translations in English for ubuntu, including:
  • "Humanity towards others"
  • "I am because we are"
  • "I am what I am because of what we all are"
  • "A person 'becomes human' through other persons"
  • "A person is a person because of other persons"

You're going to find yourself bumping this on a constant basis. There's not enough people who use open-source operating systems on this site.

Do you want just talk about open source OSs and what not, or any kind of open source software, projects, etc.? It seems Kritish interpreted it was the former, though you did mention GIMP and GNU in general and I that would be more popular.

For example I personally use Windows as my OS, but I also use Foobar, Samurize, FF, Thunderbird, GIMP, Inkscape, and some others regularly and would love to join in.

yeah. its all open-source. Programs, Cars, Beer, OSs, anything and everything open-source.

Eeeh I got Ubuntu working to my liking. I still can't write to the second half of my HD (500GB split into 250GB) and can't change the settings to make it work, but it's a nice OS. Not practical for what I needed on my desktop, but it'd be perfect for a laptop. :o
