Wow. Great insight, Minisinoo. I agree that Jackman/Wolverine is the "leading man" that the studio is riding on and unless fans clamour for Marsden/Cyclops he most likely will be standing back again. It's obvious they're not investing in the Cyke/Jean relationship on screen and that probably won't change even if they do the "Pheonix" thing in X3.

Cyke fans get out your pens and papers! :cyclops:

Wellcome Minisinoo ... :)

Well , I think you are right ... I'm gonna write to Bryan If he didn't put some kiss for them in this movie ... I was a little " sad " that he didn't put something about Jean and Scott in the first movie ... and really mad to know that he cut off all the scenes really important to their relationship ... and now , we have two more days to know what they put on the movie ...

And I will complain about James short time on screen ... I hope they putting more Cyke in X3 ...

I didn't know he said that ... and I totally agree with you ... but in sometimes and specially in his case , I think, that he doesn't need to show to much ... he is a great ( very good indeed ) and handsome actor ... he knows act and what to do in a short time ... this is what we fans need to think about ... he do what he can and I don't like some reviews that say he was bad in the movie ...

"I"m so happppy to have a thread all about me!" *smile*

Okay, THAT picture made my day! The man has a gorgeous smile!

Thanks to MsNatchios & Daniella. And yes, we should start a "More Cyke in X3" letter writing campaign. :cyclops:
----------------

And ... on a purely selfish and personal note (but one that may be of interest to the S/J fans among you), I've been working on a prequel novel for X-Men, called An Accidental Interception of Fate : "When Harry Met Sally, X-Men Style. That is, how Scott met Jean, and why they fell in love despite the age gap. Depicts the early years of Xavier's school, the genesis of the X-Men, Scott in college, plus the mental breakdown of a telepath when her powers explode unexpectedly."

Since it was begun a year ago, there are inevitable consistency conflicts with X2 (notably Bobby's arrival), but surprisingly few, I think for a novel this size. And there are some amazing manipulations by Puguita (my site designer).

I mention it because it's nearing completion ... and because I'm a marketing ****. :p

The cyke and jean relationship in the movie is more reserved...as in they keep it in the bedroom type of thing...they are thought of as leaders in the students eyes...and they are also teachers, so they need respect from their students just like any normal teacher would...so to all those complaining that is why...

well in the comic universe Jean and Scott are about the same age and both came to Xavier's school as children

And displaying his affections publicly isn't really very Scott-like. It says more about his character when he doesn't appear like a teenager on the first date. :)

Dany, being a mischeivous little munchkin today I/we went and saw it twice today (3 times already ...think we need an X2 break hehe :D). I've got to say that I think Marsden did a great job. It quality not quantity here. I hoping they'll say look what Jimmy pulled off when we gave him something decent to work with and didn't edit the bejezus out of him!
As for the Scott-Jean relationship in X2, **SPOILER** (personally I'd suggest not reading it and waiting for the movie
I seriously feel like they've read the complaints from X1 about that. There's the odd quick kiss, one strategically infront of Logan, hehe, another while making up in the dam wall (obviously noone else saw). They hug in the Museum, but Jean really needed it and I think the kids were distracted at that point. There's another one-sided display of affection infront of a few people including a couple of kids but at that there was a lot of one-sided affection flying around. Scott gets to say he loves her. Jean actually gets to say it twice in the movie. For me that was the big one because in X1 it was pretty obvious Scott loved Jean from his actions, but it was way less obvious from Jean's side.
p.s. I can delete the spoiler if anyone wants to avoid the temptation of looking ;)

I've been wondering about this for some time, so maybe someone could clarify this. Okay obviously there's age difference between Famke and Jimmy, but does it necessarily translate to the film? In the X1 novelisation, Scott's at his prom in 1986, which would surely make him born around 1968-ish right(?, unless he was an accellerated/gifted student ...well hey I think we all think Jimmy's gifted right :D). They describe Jean as being in her early thirties. Given that X1 was set in the not-so-distant future, surely that would make Jean born around or after 1970. That makes me think they're still assuming that Scott and Jean are the same age in the films. Maybe Jean's power makes her look a little older, maybe Scott's has a side effect that keeps him looking young. Any ideas???

Yes. but Cyclops is a boring character, even though he has a cool power.

re: the novelization ... it was based on a script that was written before Marsden was cast.

Jimmy is between 8 and 9 years younger than Famke. That's a BIG gap. Personally, I find it very interesting, and while I think it can be reduced somewhat, I see no need to eliminate it. IME, relationships with generation gaps like that (and anything more than 6 years is a generation) are either very strong, or notably unhealthy. Obviously, I'd prefer the former.

Anyway, as noted, I think that the age gap could be seen as less than the actual one between the actors, but really, to my eyes, Famke cannot pass for under 30 (even in X1), and Jimmy can barely pass for over 30 now, much less in X1. (He just looks young.) So the age difference is there. Even the actors have remarked on it ... mostly to say they didn't think it mattered. :)

(Also, I do believe Jimmy's RL wife is a bit older than him, though not by as much -- a small irony.)

Oh I don't think the age difference is a problem at all. I think what I was trying to say in long drawn out kind of way ;) is that the age they look may not, or doesn't necessarily have to translate into the actual age of the character, given you could always argue for an effect of mutation somewhere. The perfect example in Wolverine who is (I've totally forgotten) over 100(???) but he doesn't look a day over say 35 (though yes that has to do with his regenerative capabilities yadda yadda). I also suppose I was thinking that if there was a sizeable age gap between characters, it might make it harder to explain how Scott was the first X-Man (given that Jean would've already been with Xavier as his student for years).

ok in the comics, Xavier found Scott in an orphanage, since i know more about Jean i don't know how old Scott was, although since Jean was 10 i'm going to assume Cyke was probably 10 or 11...i think, in the original comics Cyke is the slightly older one and in Ultimate X-Men they'e both 18(although Jean was said to be 19 at the beginning and has been refered to as 18 in more recent issues)

... my god, this thread is still going ?

Yes , since us girls have a good taste and we love Cyclops and Jimmy so much ( right girls ? :D :D :D ) ... so yes ... this thread will be going for a long time ....

It's a good thread ( and hot too ) :) :D ;) :D :)

His powers are NOT boring and HE ISN'T a boring character ... if he is so boring why Jean is with him ??? He has to have something ... ( we girls know what it is ... no , I'm not talking ( only ) about his physique .... ) . Scott is a strong character ( even if some of you don't agree ) because he is a leader , he has an ( short of ) air of mysterious , he has stability ( mental and emotional )... I already said in a group about the movie that what he has of stability , Logan has of instability ... and he is strong and handsome too ...
