Well i pretty rubbish at spelling somtimes, but anyway now i have the correct spelling, how did she get shattered then?

I hated it.

I really have been turned off from comics. The writers have no respect for continuity or for characters.

What do you do when a writer just walks in and tries to erase what has gone on before? Do you buy it? Not me. Its a joke. A bad one.

To me its just to arbitrary. The recent writers have no respect for what happened before they got the job. Especially the new "it writers" to me they are the paris hiltons of the comic world. Please, just go away.

Like how they made beast gay? Whatever. Then they backpedaled. It's really stupid.

Phoenix Endsong was horrible. I'm glad I didn't buy it. I just read it in the store. I'll wait to start buying again when they get back on track with writers who actually care about the characters and storyline.

Jean Grey is not phoenix. I don't care what hot shot writer says so. She's not.

If Morrison makes Jean Galactus next does that make it so? Nope. Sorry. It's stupid.

It left a bad taste in my mouth. It reminded me what they did to the authority when they raped apollo and how the writers where laughing because "the gay superman got raped". Well thats just downright nasty.

Someone tell me when the real writers come back to Xmen.

Funny that you mention writers not respecting eachother and work that came before them. The original way Chris Claremont wrote Jean was that she was Phoenix, that's who she became. It was several writers after wards that tried to retcon it into something otherwise. And now that Morrison, Pak, and many others have restored the original integrity and continuity and actually respects and references it, somehow it makes it stupid, yet the original crap retcon that disrespected the original writers wasn't?

Umm yeah.:down

Yes, you're right but how do you explain Jean Grey waking up in the bay? You have to draw the line somewhere. This way Jean gets to live as a character and the phoenix force is explained.

I would have preferred if Jean had dies with DP but they ruined that. She has been back for years now. They could have let that story be but they didn't because they didn't have any other ideas of what to do with Jean. Its like Magnetos endless cycle of destroying humanity. Whatever. Can't think of anything else, huh? Well lets destroy humanity!

It's the same with Jean now. They had a chance to really develop the character as a person beyond phoenix. Even the whole Scott relationship was tired and stale. I'm glad she was no longer with scott. She deserved better than that.

Take away the phoenix from xmen and who is jean? What kind of character is she? Where is her backstory and strength? The phoenix has consumed Jean as a character.

Thank you for reminding me why I stopped buying Marvel comics. I'm going to go to the comic store today because someone eamiled me about Supreme Power? I'll check that out.

The same way she ended up in a egg/cocoon she created on the moon. She creates spares upon each death in case things go wrong and her conciousness/shattered pieces go to. It's not that hard to understand.

Who is Jean? I already responded with various personality traits and characteristics to Goddessgoreicho's post. As for more on who that makes her: She's the heart and soul of the team. So many stories she is essential to. Without her, there wouldn't have been Phoenix and Dark Phoenix Sagas, Inferno, X-Cutioner's song. Despite her absence, her presence is still quite strong in the books. She's Xavier's first student, and the first female X-Man. She represents the potential dangers in being a mutant, of control, and losing control, but also the reality that human love and compassion can overcome these hardships. Like Rogue said, "she's the caretaker of Charles' Xavier's dream," and she's shown that she is a hero through and through even as the cosmic White Phoenix. It is her humanity and reason that tempers the destructive powers at her command. She's a teacher to many students, a leader and trainer even amongst fellow experienced teammates, and a headmistress worthy of the name. Under her more was done in 1 press conference than anything the current leaders have done towards mutant acceptance. She's responsible for setting up the x-corps and not just making a single place a home for mutants, but places all over the world that can be called a home. Sister, lover, friend, wife, enemy. She's all this and more.

And if you don't read the x-books anymore, why complain? It's amazing how many people just log onto whine.:o

Well you call it whining I call it complaining.

I'm sure you will join me when a writer bastardizes Jean again but this time into something you don't care for.

I think, I may be wrong, that you won't spout, "but is marvel canon!"

Maybe you will because I think like me these characters are, were, characters that you liked and loved and cherished. Right?

Right, but if I stop reading a book or show or movie what not, I wouldn't continue to go there and complain. If I hated something enough to stop buying it, I wouldn't spend time on messageboards talking about it.

Uh, but you do that in the Storm thread. I've seen your posts there.

But I still read the comics. You don't even BUY the comics anymore so you're complaining about something you don't even know what is going on in. I still read Uncanny for which Storm was a key member of and still makes appearances.

Finished reading just now, and it made me like Jean again...Jean was one of my favorites during the 90's. The Phoenix involvement with her character turned me off...and it still taints her somewhat for me, but Endsong was dope.

I Like Jean as Phoenix, but I don't like it when they say she is the Phoenix Force... that is just wrong. She can merely host the Force, as so many other people has in the past and undoubtedly will again in the future... but to say she is actually the Force??? That is what's wrong.

Oh you should check her out as Phoenix too before she became all dark. It makes the transition that much more tragic. You should track down Uncanny 98-130. There's some great scenes with Jean's determination and strength on the shuttle, Jean rising as Phoenix, fighting Magneto and believing the X-Men dead in his Antartic base, fighting Firelord, healing the M'kranhh crystal, and encountering Proteus. It's great stuff.

Yeah i did get them in the end, also X-men The end how many issues have been out they look intresting?

X-Men the End is a possible future type deal. There are 18 issues in total and it just finished a couple weeks ago. They came out in 3, 6 issue arcs. It's written by Claremont with art by Sean Chen. It picks up on a lot of danglers and plot points. Some people like it, some say it's to verbose and chaotic with no real focus.
Book 1 (6 issues) is called Dreamers and Demons
Book 2 (6 issues) is called Heroes and Martyrs
Book 3 (6 " ) is called Men and X-Men

There are a couple of covers by Greg Land of Jean that looks awesome, and she gets a new, green phoenix suit that looks very nice along with tribal looking phoenix tattoos. She plays a integral part in all 3 books and appears more than most. More like 2-3 issues out of each 6 has scenes with her.

Cool thanks for the infor i think i might buy them, just to check i found some on Amazon hear - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/search/ref=nb_ss_w_h_/203-2038775-3027132?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=X-men+the+end&Go.x=8&Go.y=15 i did see them in the shops a while back but didn't know wheather to get them but i will now. Art work looks good.

The cover art (by Greg Land) is different from the interior art though. Do you have like a Barnes and Noble or Borders where you live? You can always read or skim through an issue to see if you like it before commiting to buy.:)

Yeah there is a boraders near me but its kind of hard to get to, i don't mind buying them if i don't like them sell it on ebay lol, and plus in boraders all comics are in like plastic sleeves so you can't get them out and flick though. I am reading esstial X-men, every month there is a new issue just got up to where Beast finds Phoenix/Jean 150years in the furture.

Ah ok. You're on the later New X-Men issues of Morrison's run probably New X-Men 151-154. Did you get to read the rest of his run since reading the ending before the rest wouldn't make much sense.

Here are some cover images from The End though, Jean by Land is gorgeous and I love what she's wearing.

Yeah I remeber that one. The New X-Men 150 cover. It's a cool cover too. Didn't realize it before, but Marvel really is pushing Wolverine/Jean.
