The SpiderMan said:I'll give you an opinion of a 30+ year reader of comics ... I thought the show was damn good. Period.
True fans of comics should have said "Hell yeah, that was cool!" A prime time TV show about "super heros". who would have thought ??
Go pick up ANY comic book and tell me what similarities that you DON'T see. That is a bad reason to pick this show apart .... There are a lot of good sub plots going that will fuel this show for quite some time.
AnimeJune said:Oh really? It's EXACTLY like X-men, except - weirder powers, the people don't know each other, and they're all over the place. Hmmm...it sounds to me like you had certain, rigid expectations for this show, and when the pilot didn't meet them you condemned it.
You've seen THE PILOT. You're worried that the characters are all over the place and it doesn't look like they'll meet up right away? Gee, yeah, wouldn't want to do that, because why create a mystery and a sense of progress for an entire series when you can squish all that into a 58 minute period? Puh-leeze.
Second, you think the series is spending too much time on showing how the characters learned and reacted to their powers? I dunno, from the trailers and the commercials, it seemed to me like that was THE POINT OF THE SHOW. From what I gathered from interviews with the producers and such, it's not supposed to be a capes-and-tights job, it's about real people developing powers.
The reason for the powers is supposed to be a mystery spread out throughout the show, as are the connections between the characters. It sounds to me like you wanted everything explained in the 58-minute pilot. It sounds to me like you were expecting "Heroes" to be an ACTION-ORIENTED ADVENTURE SHOW, much like, say "X-MEN" (hint, hint), and when you found out it's a SCI-FI CHARACTER DRAMA/MYSTERY, you were disappointed.
But as for the poorly-written lines and bad acting, well, that's you're opinion. I haven't seen the screener myself, so I can't be a judge of that. Most of the people cast, in my opinion, have all proven themselves to be capable actors.
Basically, I'm sorry you didn't like the pilot, but from your description it just seemed like you had certain expectations for the show that weren't corroborated by the pilot and that gave you a negative experience. I'm still looking forward to it.
hlbimage said:You can find the pilot episode on Torrent sites. If you like, I can upload it to www.yousendit.com for you to check out for yourself. You are right that I had alot of expection of the show. When I saw it, I decided to criticized what I have seen. I wasn't expecting it to be like X-MEN like you have written. Heroes is like Matrix trying to ripoff so many other sci-fi movies and compacting it into one elaborate trilogy. Heroes is trying to be like the 4400 and X-MEN all at once, though there maybe a mystery on how the characters on Heroes get their powers it does parallel the 4400.
Why do I think they should have the main characters meet each other and soon? Well if the show don't want to get cancelled soon that is my point. Has anyone seen Surface, Invasion and Threshold? Well, those shows delayed the mystery reveal and they are all cancelled now. Right now, tv viewers like to see progress but quicker progress. Shows like Lost and 24 remained to be critical hits because they moves the story along and resolves while opening more questions. On the show Surface, they have two out of three of the main characters never meeting each other until the last 15 minutes of the series finale before the mystery is revealed. Heroes has about 5 characters that may never meet each other if the rest of the series episodes is like the pilot. There is a theme here.
I will send you a PM once the show is cancelled during the fall to see if you still thinks what I thought is wrong. Is that okay? If the show is renewed for a second season you can rub it in my face.
hlbimage said:Well, if the mystery about how certain people gets their powers because they certainly evolved. Then it is a rip-off of X-MEN. If the powers are gifts from the future trying to prevent some kind of a catatrophy then it is a rip-off of the 4400. There is a scene of one of the painting where it depicted a nuclear explosion in New York from the guy that got his hand chopped off said that they need to prevent. That is so original.
You say that there is no point of having everyone together on screen because they are not suppose to form any kind of a team. Well, we will see how interesting each individual lives from episode to episode. Or rather episode 2 to 3 before it is cancelled. I don't see a single thing that is original about this show. Unless I failed to see something that other people saw.

Studio 60 owns you all.
I agree with both - plus, how sad is it that the first fifteen minutes of Sunday's Studio 60 episode was funnier than the entire Dane Cook-hosted premiere of Saturday Night Live?porchmonkey408 said:Yeah, Heroes was decent. Just...feels like its going everywhere we know it will.

How can you not like it? YOU HAVE NO SOUL!GhostPoet said:*shudders at mention of Studio 60* Horrible show...
you don't have to waitSugarculted said:Watched it finally, and what can I say..I'm eagerly anticipating the 2nd episode.
I especially like Hiro.
Showed it to my mum, actually. She would never sit down and watch anything superhero related, yet she really enjoyed this show. Which I'm rather impressed about. Perhaps it can haul in new fans?
Dude, people are entitled to an opinion.ChineseFooD said:All I can say is either give it a chance or don't watch it. But don't down the show. I mean I think they could do some things better, but it's still a great show. And I understand we're on the second episode. But people were bad mouthing it from the pilot episode. How ridiculous.
