Premise of RPG: We'd be creating a new continent in the Pokemon world, and the worlds from the gameboy games would each be other continents all on one large world map. This new continent will have 8 new towns with 8 new Gyms, Gym Leaders, and Badges created by the GM as well as a few new custom Legendary Pokemon. For those of you who don't know, typing the "é" in Pokémon consists of holding the Alt ket and hitting 0-2-3-3. é.

Players would be able to be Gym Leaders, criminal Team Members, Professors, just regular trainers or anyone from the show or comics or games. Each applicant can play up to two characters.

The max of six pokémon at a time would still be enforced but they can have more in storage. Each Pokemon can use any move it has at its disposable instead of a limit of 4 moves in the gameboy games. Also each player could start with any six pokémon (aside from legendaries or other unique species, who would be permanent NPCs) but if they want more they need to go out and catch them in game. Catching a Pokémon in a post should be a big dramatic event, even if it is just a Rattata or Caterpie. Put some effort into it, make it believable and it'll be fun.

What will this RPG bring to the RPG forums: A mature look at the otherwise viewed childish Pokemon series.

A few people have taken interest in creating their own Gym Leader, rather than applying as one of my pre-established new Gym Leaders. If you look at the application for this game, the picture I posted is a picture of the 8 gym leaders and their first 3 starter pokemon at first evolutions for the fun of it. There is one potential slot available for there is one Gym Leader I'd be ok with sacrificing. But let me show you the pre-established Gym Leaders now and their Pokemon so that you know more.

EDIT: Didn't post the proper picture it is there now.

The six pokemon you see with icons in the corner are the ones they'd actually use in a gym battle. So any other pokemon you see on the page are just pokemon they'd have as well for kicks. I'm all for flexibility and molding things, I just felt I should show this because 3 people already have asked me about being one of the new Gym Leaders without seeing what I already came up with.

How will the rpg actually play out as regaurds battles and each move? i assume it'll be like the anime? will people be able to dodge attacks using other moves? or use combo attacks? like say Agility+ quick attack?

Last time this was tried, it worked like the other RPG's in this forum. In short, it'd work a lot like the anime.

Exactly. This RPG functions like the first Pokemon RPG. The only differences is throwing in a new continent and 8 new gyms and gym leaders as well as allowing all 4 gens of Pokemon.

Could I start a Team Rocket-style group dedicated to evil?

Haha. Nice homage to the previous game with making Rivers the last gym leader. :woot::up:

Yup.

Yea, after the first RPG died one day I got bored and made that picture with Vincent. Then I was like "...hmm, what if he was a gym leader? I'd have to change my Pokemon and such and if I did I'd change it to this". Then I came up with more of a backstory about him and his family, and then I was "...if I made a so an so gym leader which Pokemon would I want?". And it kept going from there. Then it came down to deciding to give them names, and their gyms names, and their badges names, until I came up with mini-bios for them.

I'm writing up my app now!

:awesome:

What are you going to be? You can literally be anything from the game. You can be a breeder, pokemon professor, beauty shop salon owner...much more than just a trainer.

I'm planning on being an International Police officer recruit.

Someone should just stand on Route 1 and wait until someone passes within four squares in front of him.

I'm down for a strong maybe. Used to like the Pokemon back in the day. Gotta catch 'em all, all that good ****.

Another "maybe" over here...actually, what the hell, I'm in.

For those who may not know some of the newer generations of Pokemon and some of the newer moves, this website can be pretty useful.

You can either look for the Pokemon by the game they appeared in and the order they appeared in the Pokedex, or you if you look below that there is an A-Z set of listings, or you can go by type by clicking those small, rectangular colored bars marked with different Pokemon types.

As mentioned in the application, you are not restricted to just 4 Pokemon moves but as far as TMs goes. You'd have to write your character obtaining them but I think we can all agree that that shouldn't be something super common happening each post.

How exactly does one "find" a TM and what are they exactly? In the newer games they resembled CDs but how exactly do they work in this game?

What generation would we be primarily using? Only reason I ask is because the last time I touched this stuff was back during the days of Red and Blue.

Well in the games TMs are normally given to you by Gym Leaders and random civilians within towns, or they are sold in those very urban and "wealthy" looking cities/towns in supermarket shops. And on some occassions, you'd just find them somewhere randomly on the ground (reasoning I'd like to go with is that someone dropped an un-used TM). All ways of obtaining TMs are ok. And yea, like you said, in the newer games they resembled CDs. As to how they work, well I know that at one point Ash taught Pikachu Iron Tail--a steel type move he CAN learn but doesn't learn naturally--by having the man whose Pokemon knows the move simply demonstrate over and over. So since the TMs in the games are shown to be CDs, they will be CDs that will be viewable in a Poke-device I guess we can make up where it shows recordings of the move on the TM.

What generation would we be primarily using? Only reason I ask is because the last time I touched this stuff was back during the days of Red and Blue.

I am allowing all 4 generations of Pokemon to be played. This increases the chance of diversity because who wants to see 4536563465 Charizards and 36543564345 Blastoise running about? Also, the other reason is that I do not want to hinder a player from using his or her favorite Pokemon if I were to restrict the game to one or two or few of the 4 generations of Pokemon.

Looks like I got some reading up to do
