The Presidential Score

LINK
Allowing States to have independent EPA policies.

Now I agree, we need to be stricter, this is dumb.
This sets the stage for my car I drive, to be illegal when driving into the next state. I can see border inspection stations popping up across the border. They pull people over from the neighboring state that has a lighter policy on emissions, and fine them, for not meeting the code in their state.

Remember, giving a person a ticket like this, could be seen as a TAX to those in power, and we KNOW how govt's love to TAX you.

That is one thought.

The other, is this simply makes cars more expensive, and just plain more confusing.

He should simply force the mandate of all to adhere to a more stringant code....which it looks like he is doing by 2011. But this one, is not for that.

Are you sure about that? California has pretty strict emissions laws but if your car is registered in another state you are not required to adhere to our guidelines.

I think Geithner should hold more weight in terms of (negative) score. Fortunately, Geithner will have plenty of time to **** things up for Obama, so it will compensate. Too bad it had to be in the economy and financial area.

not sure...but the point of having multiple guidelines is just dumb.
Make them all stricter...I am ok with that...

I dont want to give him a thumbs up or down...citi group had the jet ordered more than 2 years ago

What difference does it make when they ordered it? They tried to use taxpayer money to buy it.

Maybe every 50 million of tax payer dollars that went into the bailout that Obama supports and perpetuate should be a negative score (transparency issues, did not even achieves it's objectives). With insurance and so forth, we are looking at 8.4 trillion, we round it down to 8 trillion.

My math maybe rusty but that would mean Obama should get a score of => - 160,000... but with the jet as a +1 I guess - 159,999 ? It is tax payer money.

I say if Malice includes the plane thing, the new score should be (with the +6 included):

Obama's Presidential Score: -159,993 :funny:

I agree Para, but what about the $15 Trillion in unfunded liabilities that he hasn't even addressed yet?

The bailout happened under Bush's watch. Paulson should be strung up by the balls for the lack of transparency.

So you telling me Obama would not have done with the bailout himself if Bush said no to it? Both he and McCain were pretty much advocates of it. Irregardless, he will run up trillions in deficit for "stimulus" every year anyways (on top of his campaign promises). It will more than compensate down the line.

The biggest problem with the bailout was that they simply handed over the money to the companies with no strings attached. I don't think Obama would have done it the way Paulson and Bush did. Having said that, I'm against Obama's big spending plans just as much as you are. I wish the "stimulus" bill would be scrapped altogether. It's a bunch of wasteful spending on projects that won't be effective until 2 or 3 years down the road. Not much of a stimulus at all. Just a bunch of pork barrel.

But what led to this is the result of 2 (maybe more) presidents decisions.....I don't like the bailouts.....actually despise them.....but I'll be damned if I have another idea.:cwink:

I guess my point is, the bailout is doomed to fail with or without transparency. All the United States and Obama is going to do is create more unproductive zombie banks that eat money ala Japan via more bailouts.

Oh well, at least I can continue to profit from Obama's poor policies and choices.

What led to it is around 50 years of policies that reflected the consumer/debt driven mentality of the United States population as a whole. The problem is that people don't value frugality anymore. Perhaps this economic disaster will teach people a lesson. My grandparents' generation understands it thanks to living through the Great Depression. My parents' generation? Yeah, uh not so much. So far (since graduating from college last May) I've tried to be pretty frugal with my money. I have no credit card debt. I had one major purchase that required a credit card (HDTV plus surround sound) but I have paid it off. I don't understand how people end up with $20,000+ of credit card debt.

WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLL hence why I said more than 2.....

and I agree....

As I said when this whole mess came out and we started discussing it....

Very simple....follow Economics 101

"If you can't afford it, don't buy it"

What difference does it make when they ordered it? They tried to use taxpayer money to buy it.

Makes a big difference to me.
Granted, they canceled it.
Secondly...this is about Obama's Presidency...not CITI...

FDIC May Run ‘Bad Bank’ in Plan to Purge Toxic Assets

Despite the ineptitude (or corruption whichever way you want to see it), Paulson did not do this because he understood it was a insanely stupid idea. But a insanely stupid idea only Congress would love. Reward the sinners and punish the virtuous. Have fun scoring this.

Oh yea, this is what Genius Pelosi sez about the stimulus package:

Food stamps and unemployment insurance will provide more economic stimulus than tax cuts, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Tuesday during a telephone press conference.

“(F)ood stamps and unemployment insurance, which affect the people in the states, are necessary at this time when funds are short and the economy is down, (and) actually have the most stimulative effect on the economy,” Pelosi said. “Food stamps first, unemployment insurance next, infrastructure after that, and it goes on from there.”

“Actually, those investments bring a bigger return than the tax cuts,” she said, adding: “but tax cuts where we have them – to the middle class – we think will give us our biggest return.”
As you can clearly see, she understands economics and history. Because battling unemployment is not encouraging the conditions to create more jobs. No it's subsidizing unemployment and poverty that is a better idea. Repeating the same mistakes in the Great Depression? Best idea ever. Have fun scoring this doozy of a stimulus package when it heads out. This **** is comedic gold, better than most sitcoms :woot:

Resigning of SCHIP
