The Punisher The Punisher - General Discussion Thread

Final Days was good. Really liked that arc when I read it as a kid.

They just finished shooting season2, are there any clues to when it will air?

My guess would be March. We always get 1 Netflix show in March, so I feel that is a safe bet.

March sounds about right. I can't wait for the second season. I just hope we see more Punisher this time.

Finally finished watching the Publisher tonight. It got quite violent towards the end.

Saw Jigsaw's look in this thread. It's a bit disappointing considering how much damage his face took. I don't think he'll get more scarred as we go along. That would just be dumb. It sounds like people making excuses like how something is only a proto suit or that we'll see something in the sequel/ next season etc.

Let's face it. They just didn't want to mess up Ben Barnes's face for the ladies. This is likely all we'll get.

I agree, Jigsaw's face is disappointing. Majorly. But, I will judge the season mostly on story and such. If they give me an amazing story, I can forgive the face (though it will bother me).

I wonder if he'll even be called Jigsaw. Seems like Scarface would be more appropriate because he's not exactly jigsaw like. His face doesn't look like it's in dozens of pieces all stitched together.

I hope Castle wears the skull more. And from the pics his hair looks a bit more slicked back than in season 1.

Agreed.

Is he not going to respray that skull instead of leaving it with all that blood from season 1? The skull is becoming less visible now.

And I wish he wouldn't wear blue jeans with that top. He should wear all black, otherwise he looks just like a guy with a Publisher top on.

You seem to forget that this is Netflix Marvel, where characters aren't allowed to wear their iconic costumes for an entire season without either mocking it or wearing it within the last 3 episodes. Cause, ya know, these are UbUrR gRiTtEh n ReAlI$tIq shows yo

I hope that some more compelling villains are included in season 3 and the action is not just in NYC where he's a wanted man again. Plenty of crime elsewhere.
I also hope that Micro is not killed. He finally got a happy ending so that should be maintained, even if he still secretly helps Frank from afar.

Do you mean Season 2 or after Season 2. Because currently, he's not a wanted man at all. The federal government basically gave him a free pass, and he basically quit being the Punisher. Basically, he has no reason to fight or be The Punisher anymore.

That was sort of my problem with the ending for Season 1. If anything, that would be your "happy ending" for the show as a whole and not a first season. Frank putting his war aside and getting on the road to recovery.

I don't want to see him constantly quitting and forced to take up the skull every season. It's ****ing nonsense.

They won't do it every season that way. The show just wanted to go back and cover Frank finishing his quest for vengeance for his family for those people that may not have seen Daredevil season 2. Season 2 will evolve the idea of the Punisher and Frank's ultimate quest to destroy all criminals should come next. But once he starts that quest, I don't see him quitting and coming back in subsequent seasons. He will just be The Punisher.

That sort of defeats the purpose of building an entire season of Daredevil around introducing Punisher.

Also, I put no stock in the showrunners, writers or producers doing that for the second season since they opted not to go that route for Season 1. Why would you not set that up in Season 1 already? Makes no sense.

Why do we have to wait two seasons for Frank to actually become The Punisher and start a war on crime?

The ending when he is talking about a life without purpose was more hitting home that struggle of soldiers coming home from war, which I felt they strongly landed. It completed the arc set-up in season 1. What season 2 will be about and what Frank's arc will is something ideally set-up in the season itself, so I think it is a valid choice.

To me that would complete his arc for an entire show, not a first season. It makes it a pretty close-ended story. He basically has no reason to be The Punisher anymore.

Disagree. Again, the Punisher idea has been narrowly defined within the Netflix world to this point. He's going to find plenty of reason to be The Punisher. He will soon see himself in the tragedy of others and become their wrath incarnate.

Castle will be the Punisher because he will always get dragged into stuff that makes him go homicidal on some criminals. It happened in the beginning of season 1 with the construction thieves and it will happen again with the slavers most likely. Castle will come across something that he can't just walk away from.
