The Punisher The Punisher - General Discussion Thread

Disagree. Again, the Punisher idea has been narrowly defined within the Netflix world to this point. He's going to find plenty of reason to be The Punisher. He will soon see himself in the tragedy of others and become their wrath incarnate.

Why couldn't they do that in the first season?

Also, I've seen no evidence they are making that transition either. Seems like it will be more of him vs. Russo and that's why he's getting dragged back into things.

My prediction is we are never going to see Frank declare a war on crime for this show.

In the meanwhile of pursuing the criminal cadres for Season 2, hopefully Agent Madani will become his love interest.

Really hope not. Didn't care for that character and I hope there's nothing like that going on with her and Frank.

will we see this cancelled as well?

If cancelled, it would be after season 2 airs. But I am not confident in the renewals of any of the shows sadly right now. Not after 2 cancellations back to back. I hope it keeps going, though. Loved season 1.

If it's the end; i'm glad it got a season 2 at least.

Poor Moon Knight and Blade. I'd have loved to see Netflix do them. I kinda felt that would have been next for say around 2020.

Something could still happen with Moon Knight down the line. He's still an untapped property for Marvel in terms of Film/TV.

Legal rights with Netflix might prevent them from doing so. Just for example, my understanding is that Sony Pictures still owns Spectacular Spider-Man, or they did for a while.

I know I said the same in another thread, repeating it for whoever may not know: the trades reported that Disney fully owns the series and could freely move new season where they please.

I take it to mean exactly what he is saying: Netflix has final say on cancelling the shows. Not Disney. But what it means once they have cancelled a show, that is the million dollar question.

Yes, that's what I was going to ask. If Netflix cancel a show are Disney allowed to continue it?

Total speculation on my part, but it sort of feels like Netflix and Marvel are in a bit of a staring contest here.

Lol. Who's going to flinch first?

I mean in a long game, I would always bet on Disney in the end. They are the content owners of the most lucrative properties and IP on the planet.

Now, I have no interest in getting another premium subscription service at the moment, but we'll see how things pan out.

Netflix will give it up. Sorry guys, but I really think you guy drastically underappreciate how big/ powerful Disney is, I had friends that said that Islands of Adventure would be using the Marvel characters because "Universal had a contract". Well, Universal needed to expand, so guess what is being phased out at Universal over the next 10 years? The IP they don't own, just pay Disney to lease.

Disney isn't even getting all of Star Wars for its streaming service on the day of release. I think you overestimate the ability of Disney to get what it wants in the face of legally binding contracts.

I think many are not going to be up for having multiple simultaneous subscriptions running.

Is this speculation, or is there an article you're referencing that supports this? I have no heard anything about Marvel rides leaving Universal.

You won't, this is stuff from people who work the park, and seriously thought Disney was gonna let Marvel IP be used by a competing park in the same markets. Watch what will be disclosed over the next few years. No new Marvel rides at Universal, increased presence in Disney parks. Already in process.

Two words..."F*** Disney".
They are not worse than Universal or Netflix or any corporation.
Corporations in general are bad for humans, that I agree.
Anybody still thinking only Disney is amoral should read more business reports, like about Netflix's employees "keeper test".
