The Punisher The Punisher - General Discussion Thread

Changing the subject slightly, has there been a Blu Ray release for season one yet?

I just checked Amazon, and I don't think there's an official listing available yet for the series on Blu-ray. But it looks like every show has gotten a Blu-ray release at some point, so it will happen I imagine before Season 2 launches or maybe around the same time. Just a guess though.

Won't be until the show is at least 18 months old.

I imagine there's an exclusivity period where ABC/Disney can't release the Blu-ray until after about that time frame. I think the first season of Daredevil came out on Blu-ray in November 2016, so 18 months seems about accurate.

Stateside, there hasn’t been a Marvel Netflix Blu-Ray release in a year, since Luke Cage season one. I doubt we’ll ever see any more of them since we still haven’t seen or heard of a Blu-Ray release for Iron Fist, Defenders, Punisher, etc. The fact that they’re cancelling all of the shows doesn’t bode well either. I think they’re done.

I caved and imported Iron Fist S1. They better at least put them out internationally.

I will cherish every last moment we are afforded with Frank.

My only regret is that we'll never see Bernthal or even the character in the movies.

I am still hoping everyone comes to their senses, and these shows continue elsewhere or we see these versions in other projects down the road.

I cant even get excited for this because after it airs Netflix is going to announce its canceled. I'd respect Netflix more if they just came out and said it now instead of withholding the announcement because they know it will lose them viewers. Chicken****s.

Im still very excited just seeing that pic Jon bernthal posted...but yeah its a bittersweet feeling knowing we're losing that show too.

I am excited regardless that we know this is the last season. Last season of Punisher was awesome and if this is as good, then I will love it and just hope this show see life in the future elsewhere. But regardless of out being the last season, it I' still more Punisher

I saw that and like I said it another thread I will be just as excited for a season 4 of Daredevil in 2 to 3 years as I am today. Same applies for the other shows. So if it takes two to three years before we start seeing new seasons of those shows again but they can resurrect him, I'm all for it

Unfortunately knowing this I'm fairly certain the Defender characters will be getting a reboot. I doubt Disney will want to hold onto the sets, crew and cast in limbo for 2+ years. They'll probably cut the cast and crew loose, and during that 2 years develop new shows with these characters, and as soon as the deal expires they'll start production on the new shows.

And if the cast gets good offers for other roles in shows or movies during that 2 years they probably arent going to pass on them just because Disney might resurrect the Netflix shows. They want to get new roles. So even if Disney does decide not to reboot when they come calling to sign up the original cast some of them might be unavailable.

Disney really should have renogiatiated with Netflix to keep the shows going until 2020 and then transferred the shows to Disney+. I know Disney's got the cash and the leverage to get Netflix to play ball.

They don't have to hang on to any sets even if they relaunch the shows. Matt can have a new office, everyone can have moved apartments, etc. No reason to keep any of the sets, and heck several changes in scenery or already plot motivated by the shows. Pretty much it would just be a matter of getting the cast to reprise their roles, and sure they can all move on to other projects for sure, but it's not so impossible to get everyone back. Heck, someone like the Punisher can have an entirely new cast and it make sense. You just need Jon Bernthal. Is it a hurdle? Sure, but is it a deal breaker? I don't think so.

I figured there was some type of deal that wouldn't allow these characters or actors to continue on as the characters to happen.

But I mean these shows wouldn't be on Disney+ anyway because they want service to be family oriented. All the Marvel Netflix shows are TV-MA.

Agreed, but that said Disney will own FX and the majority of Hulu. Both of which can support the shows.

Yeah but it won't be these shows. It will be something like Blade if they want to do new Blade but keep it dark and edgy.

ok, anyone else getting irritated at the lack of Season 2 trailer?

I'm irritated by the lack of forewarning on release dates in general. The lack of trailer itself is fine since we'll probably get one in the next two weeks and have maybe three or four weeks until the show comes out, but, since I binge watch these shows in a weekend, an actual warning of which weekend it'll be would be appreciated.

I gotta figure a trailer should be up by New Year's. Probably see a debut of the show as early as February and no later than March. I'd wager we see season 2 drop during Valentine's Day weekend as some sort of counter-programming.
