The Punisher ongoing discussion!

It's good to see Frank back in some Marvel event... the last "big" one was in Civil War... In WWH he got a solo story in his own book (War Journal) and in Shadowland just a minor appearences.

Pretty cool that we'll see a post-Rucka canon Frank. Wonder if they'll bother referencing the Rucka story or if they'll just ignore it.

Having mulled this over something occurs to me: there are characters named to appear in this Iron man, Thor, Captain America (who already have their own films), Ant man, Black Panther and Doctor Strange are all believed to have films in the phase 3 era and then there's the Punisher who was conspicuous in his absence by not being part of the Netflix deal. So putting 2+2 together and considering the recent Feige comment does this mean, that there possibly could be a new Punisher film in the works that Marvel studios are angling for in Phase 3? Hmm interesting...

I'd love to see a Moon Knight/Punisher team-up book
I'd get it regularly

Provided they forget the last 3 films. Cast Stallone, or an older actor with a heavy Queens accent, and have a brain and adapt all of the Ennis titles instead of coming up with their own ideas. If I hear that Punisher is going to play an ex-cop again I am going futzo.

Having mulled some more I think it will be like the current Ultimate Punisher. The Avengers movie was influenced by the Millar's Ultimates as is the MCU in general and Millar scribed the Ultimate Avengers which Frank was one of. I can see this angle being applied to the Punisher as its something different.

Punisher in a Joss Whedon film? I'll pass.

I think Spector is still carrying some resentment over Castle killing his brother. But if that is resolved it would be an interesting team up.

Did they make Frank a cop in War Zone? Don't remember them mentioning his job in that movie

Always like seeing another Moon Knight fan

That story is ok, Punisher being there made it better, but I'm not fond of clone retcons
At least the second death of Randall is not retconned

"Did they make Frank a cop in War Zone? Don't remember them mentioning his job in that movie"

No, but there are so many other reasons why I hate that stupid movie. The main one being that she merely glanced at the source material and meshed all of the great Punisher stories into one big apple pie cheeseburger used underwear gumbo. I really liked Stevenson's portrayal though, although the film was absurdly stupid. What the Hell was she thinking? I liked her film Green Street, and I imagined her adapting the each Ennis max story to fit that environment. But instead we get this mess. Meh: dead horses.

I just finished Rucka's run in one sitting. Wasn't bad. But the idea that Punisher would be a handful for the combined Avengers is kind of a joke.

I hope that this stint in Los Angeles isn't given a bunch of Hollywood-culture cliches. I wonder what fictional cartels will be dealt with, and whether any recurring villains will be involved.

Pretty excited for this, here's hoping the storyline is good for this.

Hopefully it should be good - I enjoyed Frank's segment of the Technovore anime by the same studio so fingers crossed. What I think is bonkers is the cover of the DVD with the Punisher taking the place of Captain America! Its just weird seeing Frank at the heart of the Avengers like that, not bad weird just takes a little getting used to. I'm of the opinion this will be the kind of angle Marvel will take when they get around to the Punisher film.

I don't expect much in story quality, Marvel animated movies hardly know that
I still hope it's fun

Have you guys read Superior Spider-Man Team up #09? Pretty good read and Frank is in my opinion the most active character in this issue.

Seeing Marco Chechetto at pencils is very nostalgic and really good.

I dropped Superior Spider-Man Team-Up since it's now directly tying in with the main Superior Spider-Man stories. I was reading it as a fun stand-alone that let me see various characters' reactions to 'Peter's' change in behavior.

I'm looking forward to Edmondson's take on the Punisher, though. I've come to realize that I like the Punisher more than I thought. I just hate how often he has s***ty comics.
