The Dark Knight The Realism Debate thread

Catwoman is the good kind of dressing like an animal :D

She gets caught by the cops.

Cop: LOL, what are the odds. A catburglar dressed like a cat.

Ras Al Ghul pops into scene out of nowhere.

Ras: Seems she took the term a bit literally.

Ha!
Catwoman is busted:
CW: You know Batman we COULD wait for cops or we could go back to my place, and............lets just say I have my OWN handcuffs
BM: ...........
Gordon: Alright Batman where is she.
BM: Who?
Gordon: Catwoman!
BM: Oh when I called and said I caught Catwoman, it really just turned out to be a broom......I get those mixed up all the time :woot:

I give you guys props for finding the Falafel scene and Ra's saying Bruce took theatrics literally hilarous. I thought I was the only one who found them funny and was telling people here back when it came out.

^Yeah, that theatrics thing was kind of funny. And how he, in pure Batman fashion just was stoic and deadpan as usual.

Why does the "So basically they're making Batman Returns" thread keep coming back from the dead.

Me and a couple of buddies of mine can always find and make some kind of humour out of just about any and all movies. I love it when it confuses people I know, they think im ripping on a film they know I like when im just having fun with it.

I don't know, that is one of the stupidest threads. It baffles me that it was never moved/closed/locked.

Its nice to see the bat-forum get humor more than.........well, you know.

For real, back in 05 everytime on these boards was pleading for Nolan to do something I would just randomly say

"Wha? you dont like Falafel?"

And trust me to always catch some subliminal thing that probably wasnt there. Like when Ra's says " Well, well it seems like you took my lessons on theatrics a bit....literally" he gives this squint eye look like " Bruce you a dumbass for taking things I say literally. You think I trained you for Seven Years in a frozen hellhole for you to do this?"

Or so he seemed to say....

LOL, hell yeah! Those are the kinds of things I'm talking about. Once you see a movie a number of times you start to get silly with the small things.

Even in subtle areas, the 'realistic' style is present. The bat-signal for example.

First off I'm not writing this to express what I think they should do or throw some wild theory out there. Just something I thought I'd share and see what other people thought if it's possible. (I'm not real big on checking spelling and grammar so anyone that pokes fun of me for mispelled words..........yeah yeah yeah, I'm an idiot)

From a few possible spoilers I've read it seems that one of the "side themes" is Bruce trying to keep Batman's identity from being exposed. If you think about it this is something that really hasn't ever really been dug into so to speak. Nolan seems to want to have a realistic aproach to Batman and you have to admit if this was something to happen in the "real world" the media, government and just people in general would be in a frenzy to discover just who Batman really is. If you think about it even if someone could succesfully be "Batman" the chances of him keeping his identiy secret are pretty slim. Look how the world deals with something as trivial as a celebrity's relationship status. I just question how far Nolan will take his reality aproach and if it ties into what he wants the end result of his "story" to be. In questioning that I started to think about Nolan as a storyteller. He doesn't exactly tell movies with the fairytale ending. It's not entirely impossible that he would have the series end with Batman's failure or demise (in death or just unable to be batman anymore). Just wondering what people's opinions are in this. If they think Nolan would try to do that and if the WB would let him. The fact that they are having a different Batman in the JLA and that they let Singer go as far as giving Superman a kid that they'd give Nolan complete creative control.

Batman dies? Is that what you're saying MIGHT happen.

Okay, Batman ain't gonna die. He's freakin' immortal. And it would be easy for someone to be batman and not give away the fact that they are batman.

I have no iea what you're trying to say here.

Honestly I think Batman shouldnt die off in the last Batman but we should know his riding Gotham of the corrupt so people arent begging for a fourth. Unless Nolan makes it important to the story, then yes Batman should die. But I have a feeling we will see his failure in The Dark Knight...

First off its not spam (and the guy has been a member longer than any of you with less of a post count). He's saying that he's thought about it, and he's worried that Nolan's "realism" might compel him to end the trilogy with something like Bruce dying, being found out, or being unable to be Batman anymore. I guess I know what he means, but I wouldnt worry about it. Nolan is trying to inject some realism into the story and character, not strip it of all its comic book qualities. I doubt very much that Batman will die or be crippled or anything like that. I would bet that the very last scene in the 3rd movie will be him being Batman.

my only beef with this is hes sayin Bruce's chances of keepin his identiy secret in the real world is slim. yes? and? there are rumors MAYBE confirmed parts, that Joker does indeed find out who batman is, hell that Reese finds out who Batman is...

theres your "real world"
