The Resident Evil Thread - Part 2

Played Jake's section. Good lord... Honestly, am I the only one who suffers from this extreme darkness problem? This time I even had to max out my TV settings to see something. Everything turned into a bright, grey, mess, but at least I could make out the monsters running in the shadows.

I thought it was too dark as well and not in the "ooh this play is badly lit," type of way.

I played all three campaigns on the demo last night, and I enjoyed it a lot. There was definitely a learning curve with it, but I enjoyed it. I'll more than likely pre-order it. Normally I'd just wait until the Black Friday sales, but Microsoft has a promotion that you get 1600 MS points and a $10 gift card to the MS Store when you pre-order RE6. That's basically $30 worth of extra points there since I'd more than likely use it for 800 MS points since they're releasing Sonic Adventure 2 on the XBL Arcade the same day RE6 comes out. Plus I'm a big RE fan that really wants to play this.

I must admit. Playing it another couple of times, I'm starting to like it more and more. Still not as great as it should be, but it's really not as bad as I first thought. Gets more fun with each with each play for some reason.

I'm in agreement with you there. Now I'm looking forward to the game whereas before this demo I really wasn't. I disliked the Dragon's Dogma demo a lot.

Played the 360 demo with my sister and im back to being excited for the game again. The only complaints i really have is the fact that the default speed is a run and your weapons dont have proper holsters. Like during Chris' campaign, when you pull out your pistol, your rifle disappears and you still have a pistol in your holster. Hate when devs dont pay attention to stuff like that, even more so when things like that were in the last game.

Plan on getting this come release.

You can still walk slowly. Just don't push the stick too hard.

Just played the demo.
I didn't think I'd say this, but I actually kinda liked, specially Chris' part.
I liked it for a demo, but I don't see myself shooting stuff for the entire game, and they said the game is nearly 3 times the size of RE5. Jake's campaign was almost the same thing as Chris', so more shooting, picking up stuff, running, going through doors, shooting and so on.

The lightning wasn't a big issue, though I understand the complaints of the others. I agree that the camera is way too close. Sometimes I just can't see the enemy and, in a game where we shoot as much as this one, I think that will be an issue.

Did anyone here actually play the demo co-op? It was a lot more fun

I haven't tried it yet, but I don't doubt that it's more fun. RE5 was a blast to play in co-op.

That's what sold me for this game, since I'll only be playing it in co-op anyway. That one section in Leon's campaign where the Zombies are all coming through the windows was an absolute blast to play in co-op. It couldn't have felt more like classic Resident Evil to me, which i know is odd since it's so different but just that feeling of having your back to the wall with Zombies coming at you, dashing backwards with that fall-on-the-ground and shoot move that is so awesome and then getting up and just mashing melee and hoping for the best, all the while you and your co-op partner are just yelling... That was a lot of fun.

And from all the gameplay demoes previously, I thought you'd be too overpowered with those melee attacks but it's hard to just rely on melee without taking any damage so I do like that balance of things now.

I don't know, I was hoping that section would be scary or at least tense, but I just charged in there and kicked ass and shot the occasional Zombie. It was about as scary as any mission in ORC.

I hate Chris' part. Zombies shooting back doesn't feel like zombies,

I actually got a little scared in Leon's and the atmosphere was very RE. Almost made me want to get the game, as I love RE 0-4.

Do you have to play everyone's part to advance in the story? Or could you beat the game only playing Leon

I think that all three campaigns will be separate. That way when you're playing as Leon/Helena you'll only be playing as them until you beat it or switch campaigns.

I saw Damnation last night. Meh. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't memorable either. It honestly felt more like something Chris should be in rather than Leon. There truly wasn't much horror to it like RE5. It's more of the political side of Resident Evil. Nothing I'll cry and whine about, but at the same time it's not something I go back to much.

That's because they're not zombies in the traditional sense. They're a new BOW called "J'avo" and honestly aren't too different from the Plagas in RE4 and RE5.

Ah, hell. It looks like I might get the game at launch after all. Just played the Demo again with a friend and we both really enjoyed it. I even got used to the controllers. He's now thinking about getting it. And if he does get it, I have no other choice but to get it as well.

Yea this will be the first RE game in the main series that i didnt get right away. Im still going to get it though. I mean i cant not play the next big RE title.

I'll wait and see what everyone's thoughts on it are. The demo didn't do anything for me but maybe it'll come together as a full product.

After getting the hang of the controls and playing with a competent friend via online co-op, the game became really fun!
