it's the latter of what you said pat. the action obsession with capcom didn't happen with the series til after 5's (which was complete action .)sales numbers happened and they used it as a excuse to hang on to.

I don't know man, according to Shinji Mikami, Resident Evil 4 came about because the REmake did "poorly" in Capcoms eyes. So because of that, RE4 slanted more towards the action end of the spectrum.

If I had to guess, im assuming Capcom doesnt think they'll sell. I think the REmake and RE0 only did like a million units moved on the GC where as RE4 did much better. This also led Capcom to believe that a more action heavy direction was needed for the series.

But maybe there is some contract language that just keeps those games locked up with nintendo. I have no idea.

I definetly don't think its bc they didn't sell well on the GC. If anything that's reason why they would port the game. By limiting yourself to one console with a small userbase, you already cut out potential sales and don't allow yourself to make up for that. RE4 went and sold more on the PS2 than the GC and that likely would have been the case for RE0 and Remake as well. Being old games, it wouldn't take much to throw them on the Xbox Marketplace or PSN. Nah, I defiantly don't think their initial sales are preventing Capcom from pimping them out like pretty much most of their other titles. It has to do with some legal issue we aren't aware of

yeah I remember I did put up the article but it came off to me as if he was told that was the reason. when I saw other place's in both written and televised that said what people loved about 4 was that 4 was balanced and had horror wasn't over shadowed by the action when it came out. it's like some one was making sure to feed bad info to them.

It's obvious they aren't listening to any fan or reviewer that said they loved the series back then when that installment of 4 came out.

And when and if asked about that they always head to the sales of . Something is seriously wrong there when dance to wards that.

That makes too much logical sense, which is why im sure thats one of the reasons Capcom hasn't done it.

Same reason Capcom hasn't REmade RE2. It would make money, therefor it would be a good idea. Capcom is anti good ideas.

I also don't think they want anything to do with RE prior to RE4. Its almost like they want people to forget it was once a slow burning survival horror franchise, not a run n gun terror action series.

Well they are trying to pick up kid's of today of which they picked us up back then. And kid's of today want to be able to move the way they feel like in a game . They don't mind being scared too. But that latter part is thing that's not registering with Capcom.

If capcom remade re2 with the same story, characters and weapons but added the over the shoulder view point ( no fixed camera) it would probably be the only game I played for the rest of my life. The problem is that would never happen because capcom would some how mess it up by adding tons of guns and ammo, and making it too easy which means getting rid of the faucet and library puzzles that would be too hard for the age group capcom is going after. At least I still have silent hill....

Capcom had an exclusive deal with Nintendo in which they'd develop and release 5 games for the GC. Only one of those 5 games remained exclusive with another being cancelled and the rest getting PS2 ports, allegedly bc they sold poorly on the GC. Remake and RE0 didn't fall under that and I have no clue why they remain exclusive

The Capcom 5 was a separate thing, yes, but Nintendo did make a deal to bring the Resident Evil franchise specifically over to the Gamecube during that generation. That was why we also saw more traditional ports of RE2, RE3 and RE:CV. I don't think it was ever confirmed for sure, but there was a lot of speculation that RE:0 was actually made to conclude that contract in place of RE4, which was a far more high profile release, so it could have the option of going multiplat.

It's worth nothing that both REMake and RE got re-released on the Wii, so I'm guessing there's probably some degree of truth to that speculation and Nintendo has some degree of control over those titles.

I don't think I'll be buying anymore RE games as they just aren't any good anymore.

I liked Revelations. My biggest problem was lack of enemy variety but I thought the game was fun

I have! Homecoming was terrible but I thought downpour was a step in the right direction. Nothing has been even close to 2 though.

I liked Homecoming better than Downpour. I found it was just too jump scary and action based. I like my desolate barren city with an occasional monster rather than just running around and away from them all the time.

well even though their doing this it was put up on Siliconera over the weekend as article that people were still buying Re 5 which means capcom will read a double message and won't do a scary title in the future at all. sorry to say. well we'll see what happens but I have no expectations of it happening any time soon.

well with what we saw with the last of us and few others like state of decay it's still possible to have scares and do that. but as I said til capcom figures that out. I have no expectations. which is better to look at it from that point.

I was digging through some old CDs and I found my copy of RE3 for PS1.

If my tv was working I might have hooked up my PS2 to play it. Of course if my tv was working I'd be playing Deadly Premonition right now.
