Its taken a couple of years but Im finally playing RE6 and guess what? Its surprisingly not as bad as people have made it out to be. I just beat Leon's first chapter and it was enjoyable enough. People said that his campaign is more like the classic RE games but I don't see it as its still very much a shooter. Well at least in this first chapter there were no puzzles or exploration and it was a linear rush to the next checkpoint, while shooting zombies along the way. Racing through the town did bring deja vu of RE2 and I kind of feel like if they were to ever remake that game, it would be like this.

Love the improvements to the melee combat and like how there is a dedicated button for that. Love the contextual moves such as the body slam, grabbing a weapon from a zombie and whacking them with it or slamming them against a wall.

The partner system seems to work better as well. Helena is not the liability that Sheva was. You don't share ammo and items so there is less management involved. She also seems to have more health so you don't have to watch her as often.

Also not seeing an overuse of QTEs. They seem to be used sparingly.

Anyways, I'll continue on with it but so far its not a bad game. Its definitely not like the classic games but it's obviously not trying to be. It is what it is and it does it well enough to entertain

All the campaigns are fairly different. Leon's is definitely the best.

Yeah, if you only play Leon's, it is quite good. Wait til you get to Chris's, which is essentially Call of Duty with monsters or Jake's, which tries to be Uncharted. And don't even get me started on the cluster **** that is Ada's campaign.

what was the reason for it being so uneven? Did different teams work on different parts?

The gameplay so far is alright but I don't even know what the story is. Leon turns up in some university with some stranger and they are on a quest to get to the Cathedral. Have no clue why he is here, where the ultimate goal is or what is going on.

So they make their way to a gun shop, yet they don't pick up any of the guns that are laying around? Weak

Good question. The game tries to be everything to everyone. Ada's is a weird, stealth mission/Uncharted hybrid and it is terrible as a result. Chris's mission is a poor man's CoD. It just tries too hard to be everything instead of picking one thing and doing it really well.

The plot and characterization is very inconsistent throughout (especially with Chris and Jake).

Agreed!

About Chris' campaign... definitely my least favorite about the ending of that campaign is just :(

About Jake's campaign... what I liked about it is there was someone chasing you and there was a point in that campaign, where Jake/Sherry had to hide or else they are killed and that was like really creepy.

I can't remember Ada's campaign that much. But I liked about it is you have to get some keys and things to get further in the game.

There are flashbacks I think, why Leon is in the University. If I remember correctly, President Benford was there to announce something at the university and in the middle of it, the C-virus was unleashed.

Nope, it was all one team. I don't know if there's been an official talk about it or anything, but I get the experiment. Four different pairs of characters with four different scenarios all sort of-kind of built around an aspect of Resident Evil. I don't think it worked particularly well, but I understand what the idea behind it was.

Well I finished Leon's campaign last night. I liked how all the characters came together towards the end as I didn't think that was going to happen. Cool how the plots really are connected and fill out a bigger picture. Guess I will, l have to play them to fully understand the story. Chris and Leon....cant believe it took 6 games to finally have them onscreen together.

I would have been fine with the game ending in Act 4. The 5th Act though? I was ready for it to be over and it all felt so unnecessary. Having to press the triggers alternately to climb that rope was just awful. And it happened twice in long segments. And was it really necessary to fight the end boss like 30 times? After the 3rd time, I was like really? They should have introduced different monsters to fulfill this role. A lot of those action sequences here were just too over the top and could have been toned down. I don't even see how Helena and Leon could survive the crash and be perfectly fine. Like whatever....

The game was kind of easy bc of one exploit, that got through and it was that if you die, you completely heal. For that reason, there was no need to manage or even keep herbs/first aid sprays. Just survive to the next checkpoint.

One thing I hated was that this game did a big game no no and that's unskippable cutscenes. Checkpoints would save right before a big cutscene and if you die, you have to rewatch them. I don't get why you cant just skip those sequences.

With all that said, the game was enjoyable for the one campaign I played. If the rest are as bad as people say, maybe they should have just shortened them and made them DLC expansion packs and expanded upon the Leon scenario

Started about 30 minutes of Chris' last night. I wouldn't call it CoD. More like SOCOM. Kind of taken a back with all that military talk and the new UI (so we're getting 4 of those?). Chris is my favorite character in the series so I will troop through it.

Question. Were Ava and Leon ever intimate? This game seems to imply something along the lines but outside of some flirting, I don't ever recall them getting close enough for any type of relationship

In the movie Damnation it's suggested that Ada and Leon did something, but in the main games it's just been "Leon is thirsty for Ada and she likes to exploit that affection to achieve her goals." Ada might have some feelings for Leon, but the her professional business comes first with her.

Also, Ada's campaign was my favorite of the four, but that whole chainsaw monster bit got annoying REAL quick.

Since I haven't played RE6 yet, how appropriate is this song when being used as an idea of how this game is with QTEs? :D

The sample gameplay for Resident Evil Revelations 2 looks really creepy!

Nope they were never in a relationship. But I think they kissed before.

Raid mode has been confirmed to be returning.

What are some of the things that Resident Evil fans have been asking for?

"Here's one really good example: raid mode. It went over really well in the original Revelations and a lot of people really enjoyed that and are pretty vocal about it. We just announced at TGS that there will be a raid mode component to Revelations 2, as well. We're building upon what was there and levelling it up, so to speak, and I think that's another good example of things, in addition to some character appearances, that are there specifically because we perceive fans are interested in them."

It was not specified whether this would be part of the episodic content or in one of the packages exclusively. It was also asked if any other main RE characters would appear, and he coyly answered that he couldn't go into specifics about it (we seemed to have come a long way from a cast of original characters that was originally announced, eh?).

Raid Mode,

Raid Mode is an action-oriented minigame featured in Resident Evil: Revelations. One or two players may fight their way through a selection of maps taken from the single player campaign that have been updated with new enemy layouts.

Well, that's weird. First I've ever heard of DLC content for a remaster. Eh, probably just skins or something. RE5 Chris, Jill, and Wesker or something.

Did I call that, or did I call that?

Just beat Chris' campaign in RE6 and yeah I liked it. Seriously, WTF was everyone on back in 2012? This is not a bad game by any means. I think they streamlined it since RE5, making it easier to jump into as I found the controls much better. Your partner also rarely dies, so you don't have to babysit him and of course the item management is rather simple. I know people complain that its not like the classic RE games but whatever. That doesn't make this a horrible game. Actually playing through it now, I feel the complaints were blown out of proportion. If Chris' campaign was supposedly the worse, then I think things are in good shape bc I enjoyed his. It was a good third person shooter with good gameplay mechanics. If I had one complaint, it would be that I wish it had better cover mechanics. The action sequences, melee and shooting, however were good. The team aspect in the beginning was interesting. To me, this was how Operation Raccoon City should have been done.

The QTEs? Like Leon, they only really get a bit out of hand in the final chapter. Before that, they didn't feel excessive. Again, don't get what the big deal was. Didn't feel any worse than RE4 or 5, both of which made good use of them

Piers. I liked him enough but he felt very underdeveloped, especially compared to Helena, who got quite a bit of characterization. I don't feel like I ever truly learn who Piers was. His only purpose was to further Chris' character development, but he gets little of his own.

I feel like Ive played the campaigns in the wrong order. Leon's probably should have been done last as his story arc seems more central. His end boss is the big bad behind everything. Almost feels like Im doing side stories with the rest in a way. I like how the campaigns intersect but one part that bothered me was a continuity issue. In Leon's game, when you are rushing to get to Ada, you miss the elevator bc Chris/Piers get to it first, but playing Chris' game, Leon/Helena do. They should have left it consistent

It was odd seeing Chris chase after Ada since she's always been this femme fatale for Leon's games. I never liked her and especially hated her here so having her [blackout]die[/blackout] was quite satisfying. This is another reason why I should have played his part first as Leon's campaign kind of ruins this for me.

When I saw the movie I heard Leon say that and thought "What? Dude, she meets, helps you with your mission, then leaves. When did she do something different?"
Speaking of Ada and movies, it's funny that in Degeneration she had no mention, she's always available in Leon's story.

Out of all the classic characters, who besides Leon never met Wesker? Does that apply to the three mercenaries in Resident Evil 3?

this is interesting

Sometimes video game characters from different games look surprisingly similar.

Steve Burnside technically.

Also, given their connection to Chris Redfield, I'm kind of surprised Claire and Jill never met on screen.

well chris knew Leon cause of what went down with Clair and the fact when Leon be came a agent he contacted him ad after with Chris's career as BSAA agent he read reports on Leon's mission's . the only way for Clair to meet Jill if if chris and Jill hung out outside of their work relationship and he bring's her into his family life alot or the other way around . which they have yet to show or allude to(flash back wise or any other way) .

Chris' campaign was pretty dull, I thought. Some cool moments, like when you saw that giant Bioweapon thing being dropped into the center, but it was all so boring. It was trudge to get through.

As far as QTEs go, it has been awhile since I play throughed either RE4 or RE5, but I definitely thought RE6 had more. I also don't recall there being a lot of QTEs set up like RE4/5 where it essentially made interactive cutscenes as opposed to just having QTEs pop up, which can often feel very intrusive.

I despise the chase after [blackout]Carla[/blackout] part, because if you fail you lose, I got stuck there and saw how that chapter ends, that ending is so much trolling I dropped the game as a whole.
It's not the first Capcom game with that sort of trolling.

Hard to tell from that shot posted, but is Chris not all roided up looking while he has that skin? It would actually look alright if he looked like a normal person.
