Same here. I mean it's a hell of a lot better than Revelations, but the most enjoyment I remember about that game was the costume and weapon selections.

I kind of want to see them remake RE Survivor. I rather have a fondness for Ark Thompson and the story As I wasn't a big fan of the game mechanics, I would love to see it redone.

Y'know, I don't want RE2make. RE2 cannot be done any better and a remake should only be done when the game can be improved upon. All a RE2Make would be is a graphics and voice acting update.
That sounds like an improvement me. Not to mention updated controls, new areas, and map layout. Heck considering RE 3 takes place at the same time, they could even combine the two games into one large adventure for a brand new experience, never seen before. From the main menu, you could choose to play them separately as originally released or a new mode that combines them with new cutscenes spliced throughout

I would love a combination type of game the way RE6 had the campaigns intersect for RE2 and Nemesis.

I'd definitely support that. You could play both games separately if you want, like Havok suggested, and another option would be to have both campaigns intersect for a what if scenario. Maybe the game could also read both save files, and create a unique experience, depending on how you played. So depending on where you were, at a certain time with a character, there's a chance of running into them. Like, if you happen to fight Mr. X in the Resident Evil 2 campaign, but according to your RE3 save file, Jill fought Nemesis in the same place, at the same time, you'd run into Jill, but with Nemesis right behind her.

Regardless of whether an RE2Make would be worth it, I stand by my point that Nemesis has more untapped potential and is ripe for a remake. The idea of a full open world Raccoon City, as it was meant to be, with Nemesis as he was meant to be, unstoppable and constantly stalking you like the alien in Isolation...that would be worth remaking, IMO. RE2 lived up to its potential and then some. It is a classic. Nemesis is a game of untapped potential that was ambitious but limited by its time. Now that potential can be reached.

Which is why I don't see why they can't do both. As mentioned, they could utilize RE6's approach by having 3 different campaigns, Leon, Claire and Jill/Carlos, each of which add to the overall story with a brand new mode that combines the narrative into one cohesive experience. That could be an update to the old zapping system with choices you make as one character, potentially affecting the gameplay and experience for the others. They can expand upon Raccoon City while reimagining these classic titles. The fact that they take place within the same 72 hours and city makes it quite feasible. I don't know about you, but I'd love to play that game

I just hope they start making these as horror games again, and deviate from the newer action games that they are today. I know a lot of people loved RE4, but I never got into it. That's when I stopped playing this series. It was just an action game, and not a survival horror like the originals.

I heard Dead Space is good, though. I need to try those out. I never played them.

Dead Space is awesome man. And if you're looking for a newer game that's like RE, The Ebil Within is coming out this October.

The Evil Within looks like the closest we'll get to that old school RE style horror. I think the REmake is gonna have to sell really well for Capcom to realize that people don't want shoot-em-up RE games.

Just be careful what you wish for. In the initial trailers and previews, RE6 looked great...then it was released. RE6 tried to be everything to everyone and it ended up sucking because of it.

6 was a completely original game which lacked a strong vision bc it was fractured between 3 different gameplay styles. A remake of 2 old games shouldnt have those same issues. It would literally be taken whats already been established and updating it to todays standards. RE6 was only mentioned in terms of set up as its the only game to feature 3 campaigns, which is only 1 more than the 2 seen from the first 2 games. No one is suggesting 3 radical different game styles between the 3 campaigns of a RE2/3 remake. As long as the classic survival horror is kept in check and it isnt turned into an action title or third person CoD inspired shooter, I wouldnt be worried about it trying to be everything while sucking in the process

Three different gameplay styles? I always thought RE6 was the same gameplay style on all three characters, but with different intensities. But then again, I got bored and quit playing RE6 when I was playing Chris Redfield's call of duty story. Man, what a disappointment that game was.

I've never even heard of the Evil Within, but I'll look out for it in Oct.

One thing I loved about Dead Space is that it really showed you didn't need to have tank controls or fixed camera angles to have a scary game. That was a common argument from people who hated "new" RE, at the time, but DS, especially the first one, shredded that argument without remorse (though I'm sure people will still try to argue it)

But, honestly, as much as RE4 gets **** on by old school RE fans, it still contains a lot of the elements of RE. The gameplay shifted focus to action, obviously, but the oppressive environment, startling moments, bizarre mutated enemies, sense of isolation against unknown odds, etc. Mikami clearly understood there was more to RE than just tank controls and a slow pace, and I walked away from RE4 seeing it was a different RE, but see had the heart. Old school will never really agree with me, though. Most of them seem bound to try to see RE4 as completely alien.

To me, it was with RE5 when they started to really abandon the essence of RE.

I don't care about a fixed camera, I just like the survival and horror aspects of the game. It reminded me of a lot of old school PC games. RE4 had scary zombies and monsters, and the game looked amazing, but it was just an action-horror game. I guess I like the survival aspects of it.

I also liked Dino Crisis back in the day, too. It felt a lot like RE to me.

I liked the first Dino Crisis, but I always liked the second one better. It was more action paced than the first, which always made more sense to me considering you were dealing with dinosaurs. Having that slow, lumbering pace and combat with velociraptors seemed weird to me. But the first was a good game, though, for what it was.

I always wanted to see some of the minor stuff that was originally in RE 1.5 make it's way into RE. Maybe in an RE2 remake.

Well its a fact that RE4 started the series push into action. Mikami had a different vision for RE4, but when the REmake failed to catch on, he decided it was time for less survival horror and more action. It just snowballed from there.

But I do agree with you in that it still had some of the atmospheric tension that the other games did and IMO RE4 has some of the series best monsters, but the survival elements pretty much evaporated in that game, which just continued further with the sequels.

I always said it myself RE4 kept the horror elements ad strove for the perfect balance as much as they could out into it of the two action ad horror . but the strove for balance. It was just 5 where they threw the baby out with the bath water. And that was cause all the better talent that work there on the series of games left, ether to do their own thing or just left them period. I did say it was always 5 and it was cause of all that. And it's cause the current heads lost direction.

I personally want the interesting diaries and real puzzles to make a return. I mean they kept the whole 'find the object that's really a secret passage key' type of puzzle; I mean the kind of puzzles where you have to reread diaries and files you find in the game to figure them out.

No offense to games post RE4, but I remember being so interested in reading the diaries/files in RE1, 2, and 3, and they snuck in some purpose to a select few of them like having a door code, or a puzzle sequence. Near the end of RE4 and on, I don't even bother reading them anymore as they all just feel like fluff that has no bearing on the games.

And I don't see how anyone could have found RE6 to be a disappointment. There was a campaign type for everyone, all a decent length and all with endearing plot and gameplay.

I would be happy if they got rid of quicktime events though.

I loved Leon's campaign, but I found the rest rather dull. Especially Chris's.
