I think it'd have to be a new build. I think remastering PS1 titles in HD isn't possible due to low polygon counts. Have they endorsed and released fan projects before? That's the first I've known about them

Mega Man X Street Fighter was the last fan endorsed project I can think of.

And I just played that. Pretty fun game. Kudos to those fans.

It's not bad, but there's a ton of great homebrew MM games. Google around and play some, they're fun.

Street Fighter: Legacy was a Capcom endorsed fan film that later begat Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist.

I wonder how the "scrolling camera" works.

No idea, but im interested to see it.

That game still holds up so remarkably well, maybe more than any game from that generation. I can not wait to see it with the HD polish.

Man...now if we could only get remastered Rogue Squadron games..complete with online dog fight modes.

*sigh*

Well, that's promoting it, not the same thing, but fair enough. They did bring attention to it

They published it, provide official support and compensated the developers for their work. Here was the official press release from Capcom

Capcom, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, recently shared plans to release a new fan-made crossover title featuring two of the company's most iconic franchises. Street Fighter® X Mega Man® will celebrate the closing ceremonies of the 25th Anniversary of Street Fighter® and kick off the festivities taking place in 2013, when Mega Man takes center stage as "The Blue Bomber" reflects on his own 25 years of gaming greatness. The Street Fighter X Mega Man game will be released as a PC download beginning on December 17, 2012 and will be offered to fans for FREE through Capcom's official website, Capcom-Unity.com

"Our fans have been so supportive of the 25th Anniversary efforts on Street Fighter, that we wanted to provide one last surprise and token of our appreciation," said Christian Svensson, SVP of Consumer Software at Capcom USA. "This game symbolizes the passion and dedication of our fans and with the 25th Anniversary of Mega Man coming up, we felt it was our duty to bring this wonderful experience to everyone who has shared the last 25 years with us and both of these celebrated franchises."

Involving a true collaboration between a company and its fans, Street Fighter X Mega Man was created and developed by Singapore native Seow Zong Hui (aka "Sonic"), with direction and support provided by Capcom. The game stars Mega Man and features eight original Street Fighter-themed levels and bosses inspired by the legendary fighting game series. Each boss character will utilize their individual strategies and special moves against Mega Man, as players attempt to mega blast their way through each uniquely charming 8-bit world.

In addition to the retro look and feel that embodies Street Fighter X Mega Man, an original soundtrack created by Luke Esquivel (aka "A_Rival") provides a classic backdrop to the action. Amazing mash-ups of memorable Street Fighter and Mega Man® themes complete the crossover of the century!

They did more than endorse it. They fully embraced it and helped get it out to the public

My big want for going forward is to just drop the co-op stuff. Maybe have like a separate mode or something for co-op, but I just never really cared much for the idea.

I hated the co-op, so I'm totally for this.

Majik...where is your Avy from?

It's a pic of one of the actors from Graceland a bravo(well not just There) show about under cover field agents that live at a old drug dealer beach house as they base of operations. it was called Graceland cause the dealer was really into Elvis. That actor plays a character called Mike one of the main stars and oge of the people sort of in charge of the others. currently anyway.

For all of you 360 owners, today is the last day of the Capcom sale, and all of the RE games on the 360 are really cheap. I just picked up CV for $6.

I didn't even know there was an HD release of the game on the 360, so I'm pretty excited to play it later.

I'm I've been debating all week over if RE:REV is worth the price. I love Jill and all, but...hmm. Also, Is Remember Me good?

Looking good.
This might just be the chance I needed to play the first RE adventure. I started playing the series with RE2.

There's a Resident Evil television show in the works

A production company called Mance Media is in the midst of developing a television show based on Capcom's Resident Evil franchise, Bloody Disgusting reports. Called "Arklay," creator Shawn Christopher Lebert describes the show as a thrilling detective drama, in the vein of films like Se7en and shows like Hannibal.

"When Detective James Reinhardt is thrust into a series of bizarre homicides, he unravels the city is hiding a dark conspiracy," reads a pitch description on Mance Media's website. "Learning a fatal virus is connected to it all, Reinhardt discovers it's already coursing through him. With time no longer on his side, he must solve the conspiracy to save his own life."

Things are still very early but hopefully the show, if it ever gets made, will stay true to franchise's roots and not turn into a CW-style pre-teen hunkfest. Although, come to think of it, that may be more fitting than we initially thought.

I don't really agree with that so much, but the character is a new one, no mentions of zombies or other biological enemies, and he's infected with a virus? Outside a virus, that description seems off. Of course, it is only a brief description, so it might come off better in the final product (but probably not).

If it even happens anyway.
