Capcom The Resident Evil Thread

There was between the Gamecube, PS2 and Wii ones, which were the first 3 released. Since then it has kind of just become a tradition for him. Having it available and beating it on all the different consoles. :hehe:
I get where he’s coming from actually as I’ve done that with Gears of War with the pc/Windows 10/mobile/Japanese XBox versions. :cwink:

He isn't.

I was kinda disappointed when playing the demo, that it didnt feel like a remake of re3... and after watching 4hours of the walkthrough,it really isn't. They've changed and removed so much from the original re3.

I always thought RE3 was the weakest of the original four ( 1-Veronica.) From what I've been reading, they've made that expirence worse.

Never played RE3 back in the day, but not played the RE2 remake yet either, not sure sure which one to go for first.

Brad isn't killed by Nemesis
Jill doesn't get to enter RCPD and the Clock Tower
Jill doesn't get to meet Carlos for the first time in a restaurant
No gas station, post office - these were the locations where Nemesis showed up
No park, grave digger
The factory was replaced by another underground Umbrella facility

Well basically most of the iconic things/scenes from the og were not remade. The only improvement I saw is the Hospital section. But every part of Jill's playthrough in og was drastically revamped.

That's disappointing. Especially the first one.

They could literally replace Jill with someone else.

The original re3 was short but they could have easily expanded it, but they drastically changed it and it just didnt feel very inspired and for a 2020 game, you could finish it under six hours. It felt like a loose adaptation and its very disappointing. Just roaming around Raccoon City wasn't fun as there was nothing really identical from the original game even the callbacks like "the gems" were drastically changed. They've also removed the choices in which you can get to certain scenarios.

Also, all of these things just made me not warm up to the look of Carlos and Nemesis, they looked hideous in this game.

No Barry as well.

Doesn't that apply to the vast majority of Resident Evils? I know I could beat 2's Remake in under 2 hours, because that's how you get the trophy. Same for 7. The only "long" ones, are 4, 6 and Code Veronica. And even then, they aren't that long.

I wouldn't mind its length,if they stayed true to the game like the remakes for 1/2. But Its short and its a loose adaptation of re3.

How are the Revelations games?

Pretty decent. It is a good mix of the classic survival horror with some of the things RE4 brought to the series.

Cool. I’ve got a friend asking me if I want to play them with him.

Will we get a new remake of RE1? I always never liked RE because of the puzzles and no story nor direction. Not even the Remake of RE1 had that fixed. RE7, RE2R & RE3R have that. But can we get a RE1R or instead RE1RR?

I would rather see a remake of Code Veronica. I have a feeling they are heading straight to Resident Evil 4 because its the next numbered game after re3.

As for another remake of re1, I would say yes to that. I want re1 to be made under the similar engine of the remakes of re2/re3. Even though I'm not satisfied with re3r, it would be nice to play the remakes of the 1st three games back to back and they all look like they came out in the same era or period of time ( same camera and look to their gamemodels/cutscenes). Though I would remake Zero first.

So my order would be CV - ZERØ - 1

Then maybe I'd say yes to a remake of re4. I've played re4 in ps4 in 2018 and I was surprised how stressful it was. I don't remember it being that hard back in ps2. I think the graphics of re4 still holds to this day aside from some textures/cutscenes that they forgot to remaster (like Ada's Separate Ways). The only change that I think they could add to improve the game is idk, maybe make some of the rooms look dark to make it more scary. But I am even a fan of a lot of rooms in re2/re3 without a light on. And I could see them making it less campy and I like the campyness of Resident Evil. I don't want them to remove that in a remake. After re4r, where do they go with the remakes? I don't know if they should even touch re5 and re6. They would need to drastically change both games in order to please the critics of the original re5/6 and imo they could just use their time working on more original numbered games.

Shame that they're skipping Code Veronica. However, I can't deny that I am excited about a RE4 remake.

I'd like to see Chris/Wesker/Steve get a remake in terms of gamemodels/actors like the ones who have appeared in Re2. We just saw Ada/Leon last year and the rest of the re4's characters (except for Ingrid/Wesker) are one and dones. I'm noteven counting Krauser's appearance in Chronicles.

Resident Evil 2 Remake removed a lot of parts as well. I mean the whole zapping system and the genuine B scenarios were gone.

The original RE2 basically gave you four different single player campaigns. You basically just get two different scenarios for the Remake. The zapping system let you experience the same campaign but from the other character's perspective.

The changes in RE2 weren't drastic though and imo, two different scenarios for Leon/Claire isn't needed. Like I couldn't even notice changes unless someone lists down the changes.

In Re3, I don't mind if they removed the path choices.
-But cutting the Clock Tower and reducing it to as background was so disappointing
-Jill not entering the Police Station was a big missed opportunity
-A lot of maps and locations were severely revamped or removed
-No grave digger
-Tons of memorable puzzles/items were removed
-They didn't even tryto recreate the cutscenes from Re3. Re2 recreated a lot of the cutscenes in Re2 and expanded it.

And I really disliked that the final location was a typical umbrella facility. Like the dirty factory location imo, was the one that they could have changed for the better. But they turned it to another Umbrella facility.

It would be like if Re2 remake removed the sewers, the crocodile, the underground lift and turned the police station into a military station.

They removed Brad Vickers zombie from RE2 and put it in RE3 instead.
