The Riddler Casting Thread

Someone I think would work in this role: David Harbour.

Really enjoyed him in End of Watch and A Walk Among The Tombstones!

If we are going for an older Riddler to fit in with most of his villains being old and veterans I would go for Alan Tudyk who I think is just a brilliant actor and would pull it off. And if they went along the Hush storyline I could see Viggo Mortensen as Tommy Elliot.

If not Tudyk though I could see from others suggestions Jude Law, NPH or Matthew Gray Gubler pulling it off. Tbh, I know a lot of people don't like the series, but Cory Michael Smith is doing a brilliant job playing the Riddler in Gotham and is matching what Robin Lord Taylor did with Penguin in season 1. Definitely this season breakout.

Also, just another thought as to who could play the Riddler. I was thinking Rhys Wakefield as a younger version. If the name doesn't ring any bells he was the one good thing to come out of The Purge other than it's poorly executed concept. I think he'd be s good choice as well.

for me, I would want someone who was familiar with the character that they are playing...I feel that makes the actor more excited.

No Justin Timberlake - No Steve Carrel - No NPH - We gotta get someone who can really step up their game. What about Shia Lebeouf? clean him up a bit? he is already a bit crazy and I think the dude can act....possibly Jake Gyllenhaal?

I'm going to go with Eddie Redmayne. Eddie has this very odd creepy look about himself and I believe he'd do a great job. He'd be able to pull off the style as well as the personality easily.

I like the idea of The Riddler as more of a weasily informant than as a true threat for Batman. Kind of the loser of Batman's rogue gallery. Definitely along the lines of the Jeph Leob / Tim Sale version. Jason Schwartzman is my choice for that version of the character.
