If it maintained this rating, it would be the highest rated CBM of all time!

Do you think the somewhat mediocre films in Spider-man and Godzilla might have made DoFP seem better subconciously to some reviewers? Or is that crazy talk?

Well, Godzilla is mediocre but ASM2 was pure awful. That honestly may have been helpful because it is so cheesy and bad and it's fresh in critic's minds on how NOT to do a genre film. Consciously or subconsciously that may have played a factor here.

Still, there's no way there won't be a few critics looking for "angry traffic" to their web sites and chime in with a watered down negative. It's a new era for these type of films and staying over 90% is almost impossible now no matter the quality of a genre film like this.

Note: Seeing Sandler's "Blended" start out at 5% is no shock.

I don't know if he's on RT, but JeremyJahns gave it an awesometacular score!

Even if it were to drop to the high 80s, what really matters is that this is being received as something truly special in the genre. A percent here or there won't change that. I don't see it dropping much from 95% though.

At this point, this film could be hit with 35 rotten reviews in a row and still cling on to a fresh rating! :)

SM2 is best of all movies about SM, but 94?
X2 is better movie.
Don't know why people in USA so much care about RT%.

Rotten! :csad:

Now 58/62 = 93.55%

It's amazing how one poor review can affect the overall percentage so greatly. Why is that?

So pleased to see this film doing great critically.

Ever since i saw that first trailer late in October of last year i liked that it was different from the other usually action oriented trailers even though there were many complaints about the lack of action.

I think ultimately Cap's weaker plot and casting may have been the reason for the batch of late negatives that came it's way. Looking back whilst the film is still good it was lacking a real emotional journey for any particular character. The big difference here is the story is far richer and the cast far better, there are about 4-5 good character arcs here. I'll be very surprised if this drops below 90. I normally don't stick my neck out for RT scores but I really think this film deserves a place at the big table.

The thing is...the level of positivity of the fresh reviews for this is very similar to the level of positivity of TWS reviews.

Another rotten, 5 now.

It's not affecting it greatly, we just perceive it as such as we're aiming for such high numbers. The move just depends on the number of reviews we already have. If we have 49 reviews, that 50th review represents 2% of the overall opinion so a move over 1% shouldn't be seen as a huge move at that stage. But the thing is we are dealing with extreme percentages i.e. near 100% or zero%. That means a view that agrees with the current extreme 93-95% will confirm the rating without moving it a great deal while the opposing view (negative) will have the effect of moving it by a per cent or so (depending on how many reviews are already out and as a result what proportion of the total reviews out so far the new one constitutes).

We just watched all this happen six weeks ago with Cap 2. A neg will come in and force a big drop, and then you need a several positives to raise it back up again.

Yep, and Cap finished in good health. 89% & 7.5 Avg. Godzilla was a quick fall though, as were TASM2 (which managed to start out high) and the 1st Thor if I remember rightly. I'm sure this film is more like Cap 2 in quality than any of those others mentioned judging by what the reviews are actually saying, rather than just the scores.

1 more positive 64/69 = 92.75% (93%)

I know I'm in the minority here...but I actually didn't like Cap. 2 all that much. I don't know why--it had everything a good movie should, including clever dialogue, good characterization and plot. There's just something about the villains that felt really campy to me and I couldn't get past it. Maybe I need to sit and watch it again.

Right now Cap 2 is my fav movie of the year (sorry ASM2), which i think was outstanding. But this is X-men, my beloved characters from the comics when i used to read them. So i can hardly wait for this special event.

This film deserves to stay in 90's its something very special, if it doesnt so be it, wont change my view on it now. Its a great xmen film no matter what anyone else says to me now.
