Looking at the average rating I think it could end up in between 75%-85% however, the reviews seem more positive than they were for Doctor Strange which ended up with 90% so that could happen with this movie too.

Yeah, I think it's a good sign Homecoming isn't getting a ton of middling reviews. Despite its great start you knew a movie like TASM2 was going to fall off a cliff because the positive reviews were mostly 3/5 and the average rating wasn't budging past 6 which meant there wasn't much enthusiasm for the positive reviews and the negative reviews were going to savage it.

What was the last notable movie to get its consensus and then drop more than 10%? Uh... besides Despicable Me 3.

Literally after I posted this, DM3 has dropped all the way to 60%. Still haven't changed the consensus.

I'm not banking on Homecoming staying in the 90s but it would be very nice. Anything in the 80s is a win after the last three movies.

Another three fresh reviews added. Woot :)

Around this time WW had another Rotten review already. Still only got 1 for Homecoming.

If this ends up genuinely being one of the best MCU films I'll be so happy. Spider-Man is my favorite superhero but none of his cinematic outings have really scratched my itch for him.

WW had 38 reviews in that photo Spider-Man is at 34 right now. They both have a 7.9 average in that photo though.

That's why I said "around this time," meaning, not exactly. :oldrazz:

The point is that it's holding very well and I don't see any reason for it to drop into the low 80s/high 70s like some people are fearing.

FWIW, Peter Travers gave a higher rating to SM Homecoming than WW.

This score is significantly better than what I expected, I wasn't expecting it to go much higher than 73% on the tomatometer.
Statistically speaking; probabilities for a movie that starts this strong to stick in the land of the 90s are higher than it dropping 89% or below.

Almost everyone likes at least one of the older SM movies. Welcome to our exclusive club!

There's three of us.

Wonder Woman will probably get more critical approval on RT due to the female-centric nature of the project. I didn't notice earlier but nowadays a massive number of the critics on RT are female. Demographics have changed.
Not to say they wouldn't support films with male leads, they definitely have with previous Marvel Studios entries. I just think a female-led genre film of WW's scale (that was actually a competent film for once) will definitely sway their opinions to push it forward. Especially with a female director behind it.

I'm fine with this Spidey getting 80s level critical approval on RT. Anything in this range is a massive redemption for the character.

I know it's controversal but I feel like WW was graded on a novelty curve. If SMH is a better movie it might get the same score as WW.

I had originally predicated 85-89% but I will be pleasantly surprised it if exceeds that :hyper:

Good to know a superhero movie starring a woman can't be a critical success without an asterisk.

That's not what they said, dont take it there. And can we not make this about wonder woman?

Second Rotten. Bring on the doomsday!

You expected around a TASM score?

Even after a dozen plus "best Spider-man movie ever" tweets?

35 reviews in. 33 +ve 2 -ve. 94% & Avg 7.8.

I expected that before the early feed, and yeah, that expectation continued after the positive buzz preceding the embargo left.
Didn't you enjoy the first Amazing Spider-Man movie? I'm curious as to when the joy factor dropped to you, and how quick.

This is a fantastic results do far for a character with his 6th official solo outing. God bless Marvel Studios abd Kevin Feige, the producer in Hollywood who seems to be the only one doing his job effectively. I've never been overly find of the 5 previous movies and I loathe the ASM series but since CW I was completely sold on Holland and everything about this film has me excited. Can't wait to see this next week!

Second Rotten's from Scott Mendelson. Not surprised, he's pretty harsh on superhero films (TWS and WW are among his highest rated at 7/10).

Could finish in the mid 80s for an MCU first.
