The Runaways Thread

I've heard his superhero work isn't great. Kind of makes me wonder about the action quota of his run. But Runaways has never really been a superhero book anyway.

3 issues I think. It was during Gail's run, let me check if he wasn't also penciling that.

Yeah, I really don't know what Corp is specifically referencing.

Fact is, the guy is unproven on the whole Superhero genre, so I my expectations as to what he'll do is low. Awesome Indie Writers do not always equate to awesome big two writers. Warren Ellis is proof of that.

Warren Ellis isn't a master of intimate relationship type stories, either. :o

Meh, I like Ramos' style, it very much reminds me of my own though, which is probably why. Only his is a lot, lot more distorted.

The thing is with Ramos, is he's a master at setting the mood with his art, you can instantly know what kind of mood the charcters are in just from the way he draws the whole scene, not just the characters themselves. I look forward to it.

I also look forward to the next ****ing issue, when the hell is out?!

Issue #29 is scheduled for 2/6/08, presuming it isn't even later. After that, who knows.

Think about this; this was supposed to be a 6 issue run, and it may be a year before it is finished. Way to take steam out of a title. Keep in mind, had Whedon & Ryan been on time, this run would have ended by OCTOBER 2007. So that's at least 3 months behind and counting.

Whedon's better here than he is on AXM, IMO. It just is so damned late. I don't care as much about Runaways as I used to, either.

Whedon's AXM was much, much better than his Runaways.

Are you kidding me? His RUNAWAYS run so far has had a more original plot for that franchise than his AXM run (X-Men vs. aliens? Oh, that's never been done a billion times before, literally), and his pacing got better. More happens in one issue of his RUNAWAYS than maybe 2-3 of his AXM issues.

Granted, both are plagued by horrible lateness. Whedon has to pick penciler/inker/colorist teams who can do more than one page a week.

I'll agree in that I don't see what the major problems are that people seem to have with Whedon's Runaways.
