The Runtime thread

I'm not too concerned about the runtime being shorter, I actually enjoy movies that are on the short side, to me it's better to have a movie that leaves you wanting more than to have a movie that feels overstuffed. Not only is it more satisfying, but it makes me want to rewatch the movie more often so I can get as much of it as possible.

How about the movie that gives you everything you want, isn't overstuffed, and still leaves you wanting more?!

Technically you didn't get everything you want if you're left wanting more. :cwink:

The runtime is actually my only reservation. I like films with more time to breathe.

The runtime is confirmed to be 2 hours and 10 minutes.

It's all just BS. No way the movie is locked down to an exact runtime 60 days before it's release anywhere in the world.

AMC and Fandango confirmed the runtime and AMC received the info from Disney itself.

If you want to take that as gospel that's ok.

I will wait for the BBFC. Hope it's true but not getting my hopes up too high.

Yeah, I'm sure if Fandango and AMC prove to be inaccurate you will stand up and say "I was wrong." -- I have no doubt.

Director still tweeting that it is 90 minutes. What is happening?

That's what's known as a joke, my friend. You really think this movie is going to have 40 minutes of credits? Even GotG 2's end credits with it's many mid-credit sequences were under 10 minutes. 90 + 40 = 130 = 2 hours 10 minutes. It's Taika's special own unique way of confirming the run time and trolling at the same time. :oldrazz:

Huh? Of course the runtime can be locked down this far in advance. Taika stated over 4 weeks ago at SDCC that there were already at least 3 cuts of the film with differing lengths, they've clearly just decided which one to go with. Plus, Mark Mothersbaugh confirmed a couple of weeks ago that he's started working on the score, he's not going to do that until they have a final cut. There's still plenty of post-production that I'm sure needs doing in the next 60 days such as finishing work on the visual effects and the score, e.t.c.

Dude, why are one of the largest cinema chains in the US going to just make something like this up? Their information came directly from Disney. You know... the studio that's distributing this film? :whatever:

Haha. But you can get everything you want from one 10/10 film and that will make you want endless sequels. You can't get all the sequels in the first film!

Yeah, I was just making a joke. :)

But I actually do have a case of me wanting more when one of my absolute favorite films ended when I first watched it. The film in question is Pulp Fiction, which is over 2,5 hours, and when it ended my thought was "nooo, I could watch 2 hours more of this". It didn't mean I wasn't fulfilled though, which is made clear byt the fact that it's one of my favorite films.

Of course it's easier to hope for more to a film that's not told linearly as when a traditionally told story ends it's been quite clear for a while that you're approaching that end.

Haha.

Yes I was obsessed with Pulp Fiction when it first came out and was ready for more when it ended.

Theaters can't schedule until they have a run time. Theaters can't sell tickets until they can schedule. Of course they know the run time about now.

2:10 it is :)

That is plenty of time to tell an epic Ragnarok story.

I wonder if the debate will continue even after we've all got the DVD. :D

Yeah someone's gonna sit there and time the movie lol. "NOPE, two hours and 9 minutes that is NOT 2 hours and 10 minutes!"
