I highly doubt she's Sable, way too young, but at this point, who honestly knows. Foxx and Giamatti are far and away not the actors I would have even thought of for Electro and Rhino.

False equivalence. Both Cotillard and Cumberbatch were playing characters whose true identity was a twist within the film. It's not like they're trying to pass off Gadon as Nancy No-Name only to have a dramatic moment where she reveals her true identity to Peter.

Again, not the same thing. You guys are all naming instances where the characters were called by a totally different name for most of the movie, only to have their true name/identity revealed later on. Whoever plays Mary Jane is just going to be Mary Jane. She's not going to masquerade around under a pseudonym for half the film.

This is probably the closest example yet. She went deliberately unnamed until the closing moments. Now, I didn't follow Skyfall's production. Was Harris' character ever named before the film or did Harris ever explicitly say, "I am not playing Miss Moneypenny"? Because if so, then there's an argument to be made.

EDIT: Clever answer in that interview by Harris. She never says, "I'm not Moneypenny." In any event, the Moneypenny reveal works because traditionally she doesn't have a first name. The only way to make the Mary Jane reveal a surprise is to A. leave Gadon unnamed throughout the film (fairly obvious), or B. have her show up for one scene at the very end.

Similarly in 2004 when WB cast Liam Neeson in Batman Begins, they ****** up and announced he was playing Ra's Al Ghul, only to retract their statement saying he was playing Henri Ducard hours later.

It doesn't matter what you say to be honest. It's the same thing with Micheal Masse. He was Norman Osborn because people want him to be Norman. Some people just see what they'd like to see. That even one actor working on another film for another company can lie about who they are playing regardless if it's important to the film's plot or not that it be kept hidden is proof enough for some when they want to argue that all actors lie.

Sony nor Marc came out and said it Movieweb spread it first and InSneider debunked it and then ETCanada confirmed she is in the franchise and then people took it and ran with it

Liz Allen though? That suggestion seems wanting. I have a hard enough time believing they'll have Hardy in the series before MJ. We really don't need the excess of love interests.

Jones is Young Mary Parker, Gadon is MJ (cameo) and Woodley is gone-zo.

We'll see, I suppose. I thought people were definitely jumping the gun proclaiming her the "new" MJ. I understand where it's coming from, of course. The timing was incredibly convenient, and it'd make for one hell of a juicy story. But I need more proof than that to believe it, especially given the comments Marc Webb made about Shailene after her character was dropped.

I'm not saying it's impossible she's MJ. I don't believe it personally, but I'd need a lot of convincing. Right now I'd guess she's probably some bit part. I can't help but think of the fuss made over several actresses cast in various Iron Man films only for them to have fleeting roles not worth mentioning.

It comes back to what I said before: just because an actor or actress is cast in a film and their role isn't specified, it doesn't mean that there's some gigantic conspiracy and/or that their role(s) is (are) of any special significance.

It's a shame, I thought she was playing Mary Jane. She could have likely done it some justice in my opinion, she seems a smart young girl from the few interviews I've seen.

I still think MJ should have a short cameo. Just to say 'Hi tiger' and then leave. I dont think Peter and Gwen is interesting enough in my opinion to not include at least a cameo from MJ.

I did a Google search to see if there had been any 'scuttlebutt' concerning the role of MJ prior to Woodley being cast, and the only thing I found was a report concerning Woodley being in 'early talks', so it sounds as if she might've been their first and only choice for the role.

As for Liz, I already said she'd more likely be with Flash or Harry; they need some loving too.
