Again I have to say there doesn't seem to be a mark 2 mentioned on that site, so its possible there is no new model and that mark 1 just got put out of service in the 90s till now and l
An army of them have been released, which would answer all the questions about why they haven't been mentioned in the OT

LOL that was my first thought when I saw the pic of the Sentinel t:

What doesn't make a whole lot sense to me is why Magneto and Professor X would (apparently) do nothing about the Sentinels for 50 years until the situation finally got truly sticky. It seems weird that they'd know absolutely nothing about this technology in all this time, and even if Sentinels were marketed as protection from the mutants rather than weapons of aggression... how are giant mutant-sensing robots NOT something to seriously worry about? Especially from Magneto's much bleaker point of view.

Yeah that is what I figured, the Sentinel project was halted somewhat in the past, but is now resuming in present time,probably due to the whole Phoenix Alcatraz incident, and the fact that the cure didn't work. Also due to the technological advancements. The present time-line might start with the current Mark 1 sentinels being re-introduced with a few upgrades. Then in 2020 they unveil the Mark X Sentinel.

I keep people saying that the Sentinels don't look threatening, but I kinda think that's the point.

They are suppose to look nice and something you would want around.

Almost like the new model robots in I, Robot.

They don't look threatening at all, but they go completely insane in the end.

My thoughts on the sentinels:

• Glad they are not over the top huge, like the size of the Jaegers from Pacific Rim. I never really understood the point of using robots of that size for countering mutants when they're more likely going to harm the regular humans. Sure you have the intimidation factor but you could achieve the same effect with sentinels smaller than that.
• lol are these sentinels going to be made of primarily metal? If so well Magneto's going to have fun and be the badass of the movie.

They don't look threatening now because they are still new and hasn't been used in action yet. But when we see them finally hunting and fighting with mutants, things will change. They will look similar to the rugged Transformers robots.

Also they are not meant to look threatening, because its a facade..... They are they're to 'protect' make humans feel safe against mutants.

I think the Sentinels look great. I agree, they're probably not supposed to look threatening (what makes them more threatening IMHO). The design is very functional and realistic. The head we saw in X3 was also nice, but it did seem a bit 'overdressed'. My guess is that we'll have these Sentinels from the 70s and a more dangerous looking, murderous type in the present and future. The Sentinels in the present could be prototypes of the ones we'll see in the future.

The fights need to be spectacular and creative. How does Quicksilver/Mystique/Blink/Shadowcat take out a sentinel? Every character should have the honour to crash at least 1 sentinel.

I would like to see some of the powers combined a bit, kind of like in the X3 cut scene where Storm electrifies Logan so he can zap Juggers with his claws (but obviously done better).

If you really dont like them then fair enough, but I would wait until we see them in the actual movie or at least in a trailer before we can fully evaluate them. Good or bad.
