Days of Future Past The Sentinels

Not crazy about the designs, but I'm super glad we get to see Sentinels in any way :D

At least the got the basic thing right: Giants, robot, mutant killers, purple :)

They probably will, I can't imagine robots taking over the world and not looking scary.

The design of the 70s Sentinels isn't as good as the X3 version but at least we're finally getting them for real. Can't wait to see how the future Sentinels turn out.

Wow future sentinel is awesome. And I love comparing it to the retro sentinel. Nice throwback.

I don't love the look, it looks like a humanoid not a Sentinel robot.

But it looks threatening.

The question for me is: Is this what Trask Industries designed for the Mark X, or did they evolve on their own into something uncontrolled and more nefarious? Cuz this is a far cry from the tone of the ads on the trask-industries site, where we saw sentinels at the White House and at the beach looking over families.

Yeah, that's a really good point.

I'm pretty sure they're going to have the Sentinel A.I. evolve on its own.

I wonder if the future is going to be riddled with just the Mark X, or if we can expect to see Marks I-IX, as well?

When you compare the 70's Sentinel to this, the advancement makes sense! For a 70's robot, Trask has come up with something very high tech. It's like over the years... decades, the Sentinels could have very well come to a mutation. Humanoid. They're organic exterminators of all mutant kind, so they have this adaptation to them almost. I'm honestly wondering if Rogue's abilities plays a role that ends up to becoming this high functioned alien like Sentinel.

I think the perfect words for these are "Eerie" and "Menacing." I'm most intrigued. :hrt:

More uninspired design veering from the source material for no reason.

Veering from the source, yes. But far from uninspired, I've never seen a robot like it before

I actually think that future sentinal is an inspired design. Uninspired would be copying exactly what is in the comics. It looks bio-mechanical, like it has evolved, so to speak. Maybe with Apocalypse tech? It looks like a kinda liquid metal that allows for some form of shape shifting.

I like this look in both Sentinels. I sincerely hope that the Sentinels are not underwhelming and get a decent amount of screen-time full of awesome action. I hope Bryan Singer doesn't f**k it up and gives Wolverine an excess amount of screen time like in the other movies and hogs most of the Sentinel action.

Just because Wolverine's the most popular and known X-Men character doesn't mean all the other mutants gets shafted.

From the other thread:

From Empire site:

As for the design of this future Sentinel, inside the magazine we have an interview with production designer John Myhre who explains their look. Here's a little of what he had to say. "They're biomechanical weapons. We had to come up with what would be the ultimate version that could actually, in principle, stop the X-Men. We started with this idea that they were almost made up of magnetic plates slapped over one another, imagining that the plates could contract or grow, so the Sentinel can be skinny to get through a small space or the plates can open up to become a bigger shape. So they have become virtually unstoppable."

I agree their reasoning makes sense from a design standpoint, but guess what the Sentinels have worked fine in the comics for years without some movie designer adding his personal touch. Same goes for the horrendous costume designers who came up with that Quiksilver joke and yet think Wolverine wearing a mask is too outlandish or wouldnt be accepted by audiences...

I hope for everyones sake who is excited about this movie that it delivers for them. But these covers basically took any interest I had completely away.

The comics aren't the movies. The comics appeal to a very small percentage of cinema goers. Films are made to appeal to a much wider audience otherwise they wouldn't be getting 200 million dollar budgets.

It's hit and miss though. Quicksilver looks utterly atrocious. But I like Magneto and Wolverine's suit designs and I think this future Sentinal is very interesting and original.

I like the Mark 10. It looks terrifying. I like the Mark 2 also.

There's likely a Mark that look similar to the comics.
