Homecoming The Side-Villains: the Shocker and Thinkerer thread!

I want a mind-breaker Mysterio. Someone who'll drive people insane. Somebody who will do anything to get what they want with NO remorse at all, the fame & attention motivation has to be dialed up to 11 in order to make him a viable threat for Spidey as the main villain.

My ideal Mysterio would be a combo of the characterization we got in ASM 66-67, this, and from the Media Blizzard arc of ASM in the mid-90s when Ben Reilly was Spidey.

Or you could even go into some of BND-era shenanigans, such as faking deaths for people like Norman Osborn, stealing from the mob by posing as a resurrected leader who had supposedly been in hiding, etc.

Play up the showman angle, like Slott did in Ends of the Earth (an otherwise blah tale) and especially loved how Weisman wrote him in Spectacular.

Shocker?!

I'm very disappointed if that's real. I hoped he'd look more professional and more badass, like Crossbones did.

I'm feeling very mixed. Feel like he has too much brown and if those are sunglasses, I'm not feeling 'em.

On the positive side, he still looks like Shocker (which I can't say the same for Vulture).

I share the exact same feeling!

I like it. He looks like a petty thug. Like Shocker is, besides, cgi guys. It exists. They'll gloss ot over in post.

Jesus, ik I'm gonna like this film regardless. But the more I see people nitpick the less confidence I have in its general success.

You're only seeing that on here.

Majority won't give a damn and the film will make money, have multiple sequels, everyone will sing "The Circle of Life" and praise that Spidey is home, he's amazing, blah blah blah.

Don't get yourself worked up 'cause a few users on a message board have nitpicks about a comic book adaptation. :oldrazz:

Homecoming Vulture looks more like an actual Vulture than comic book Vulture does. And 50x scarier. I love the design they chose for him.

Looks about right. Most of his money probably went to building the darn gauntlets. It's not like Shocker was able to send a request in for Stark to build him a cooler looking costume. That's why he's stealing money :).

All the worries were that he wouldn't look like the Shocker. Well he does! He has the full body protection needed to use those gauntlets, it's yellow, he's got the glasses. Yeah, seems fine. Especially for set photos. I mean even Spider-Man's costume in Civil War didn't look as good until we got the high resolution images for it.

I agree...he looks like a street level crook. Good job Marvel.

Yeah, they definitely calmed my fears that he wouldn't look like Shocker. He does and I'm happy with it.

I really don't get the complaints about the suit. It's not supposed to look professional or "cool". He doesn't give a darn what he looks like.

This suit looks like Shocker, straight down to the "quilt" pattern, and that's fine by me.

Looks fine to me, definitely looks like shocker. I'll wait till we see him in action to make my opinion. So far I think they're on the right track though.

Have you seen the original shocker costume? You do realize his a thug right? He's costume is meant to look homemade, he's not loki or crossbones, hes a street level criminal, this costume is perfect of representing that

Wish there was a little red in that costume. Other than that, I think it looks fine.

CW Shocker. And I don't mean Civil War. :o
I'd refute you myself, but the below comment sums it up pretty well.

Supposedly he has two suits and this is his first - hope the second looks a little more professional - My biggest problem is that the classic Romita design almost looks like a sound blanket, like it was meant to absorb sonic shocks; this looks too baggy but here's hoping the upgrade corrects that...

this could of been done in some sort of variation

if Suicide Squad did deadshot quite well and his costume in the movie is very gritty and street level i dont see why this film couldn't of tried something similar

Looks trashy. Hopefully the tinkerer upgrades the design to something more resembling the iconic suit. This just looks like the Amazing Spider-man 2 videogame Shocker where they tried a very lame reworking of his design by covering most of it up.

Skip to 10:40 to see what I mean.
