I saw the Mangold-directed Identity in the movie theater when it came out. It's a whodunnit with some, shall we say, interesting twists, that you'll either love or hate. I think it's good for a watch but not a rewatch. I saw it again this year on Netflix but don't know if it's still there.

Mangold is a very good director but the review embargo being so late does worry me. Fox used to pull this with all of their films and I specifically remember they did it with X3, Origins, and the FF and AVP movies, all of which turned out very dissapointing.

Fox has released some much improved blockbusters the last few years but Die Hard 5, and it having the old Fox run-time of 90-100 mins made me think they may be going back to their old ways of 2005-2010. This gives further example of that, I hope I am wrong.

I hope Poni Boy's assessment of the film is on the money. I would love nothing more than to get X-Men and especially the Wolverine back on track. It's been too long since the brilliance of X2.

Totally agree man! Its been too long since we got as good of a X-Men film like X2. I love X2...and I'll never forget the first time I saw it. Till this day, Jean's death scene still breaks my heart more than ever when I watch it and its the best sacrifice I've seen in a long time.

With DOFP, I'm not sure what the outcome is for bringing back Jean to be honest, and I guess you can say the same about Cyclops but you know, anything can happen. We just won't know until the release date so I'm sure Singer is trying to keep as much as whats gonna happen in DOFP a secret as possible.

Same can be said about The Wolverine...there's still not a lot to go on besides what's gonna happen with Wolvie and with Jean involved...who knows if we see her rise at the end...I doubt it but we'll see.

Till this day, Jean's death scene still breaks my heart more than ever when I watch it and its the best sacrifice I've seen in a long time.

"X-Men: The Last Stand ended on a very high emotional note, but the audience didn't really have the time to really process what happened which is that The Wolverine kills Pheonix/Jean Grey and that's something people were left with. The fact that Jim and Hugh took on this part [for my character], even though it's a very small through-line for this film, it's such an important part of the series, and what happens with the journey Logan goes through after that. The guilt that he lives with, the reconciliation he has to do with his past, and the fact that somehow this Jean Grey character that comes in -- in trying to either guide him or challenge him or find a way to help him through his part of his past -- I think that is a really beautiful way [Jim and Hugh] incorporated it into the story."

I know, Poni, I did read that bit but...what happened in X3, shouldn't have happened. Jean shouldn't have died twice.

Blame Singer and Vaughn for that. Can't cry over spilled milk this late in the game. DOFP will fix a lot of the major story problems with the franchise.

I know I blame Singer for leaving the production but Vaughn? Naw...Singer gets most of the blame but the rest is history. I hope DOFP will fix what Singer says he promises to do. So here's hoping *Fingers crossed*

Vaughn walked out on production a month before the cameras started rolling. He's lucky Fox let him back in the door (then again Singer was the one who put him in the director's chair for FC). There's plenty of blame to go around for TLS. Thankfully it looks like they knew where they screwed up and are making amends.

Also, if you guys see any critics TV spots come out let me know. Once those hit I'll ask Fox about the review embargo again.
