And you have to put up with Joe Buck and Tim McCarver, usually when the game is on Fox.

Joe Buck I can put up with...Tim McCarver...not so much. I held out as long as I could to see another Wolvie TV spot. But there's only so much Cardinal suckage and McCarver's terrible color commentary I can take :D

Ugh, he's the worst! When is he retiring??

Wasn't convinced of Wolverine when I first saw the trailers (I was ready to rip it hardcore).

Now that Poni Boy says it's the most mature X-Men film to date (as well as vague positive reviews from twitter), my body is ready.

I'm sorry but I don't get this..

Between 2004-2009/10 ALL of Fox's blockbusters had a run-time of 80-100 mins, no more, so they could get more showings in the cinema a day. Both FF movies, both AVP movies, Eragon, Origins, X3 and many more all suffered due to having this short a run-time and a half-assed effort from Fox.

I hope Poni Boy's assessment of the film is on the money. I would love nothing more than to get X-Men and especially the Wolverine back on track. It's been too long since the brilliance of X2.

Agreed, FC was great 2nd best X-movie to date for me, but X2 was just something else, especially that ending with Jean's sacrifice, I dont think there has been as emotional a scene in a CBM before or since. Amazing movie and still one of the best there is in the genre.

This one is 2 hours and 9 minutes.

Well thats a good start, also, what are these 'good things' you have been hearing?

Poni_Boy has seen it - you can just go back through this thread and read his posts. It's good stuff. Reviews are still embargoed, but there have been some other positive responses on Twitter as well.

That is a bit re-assuring, thanks, but, at the same time, Green Lantern got good twitter responses as well. We will see I guess.

Not from a press screening.

What are people searching on twitter for the early reactions? Or is that a stupid question? :csad:

Fox is not Warner Bros. Each studio handles press reviews/reactions differently. WB's policy is to frontload positive buzz long before their embargoes lift. That's why you always see their genre movies with hella high RT scores and 5-star reviews coming weeks before the normal ones come out. There's also a recent tread to post ludicrous reactions from "execs" that are headline worthy. Fox doesn't play that game.

There's nothing to see really. At most you'll find three or four people alluding to their positive thoughts on the movie but nothing worth searching pages of posts for. Embargo lifts on the 25th as of now. Might be sometime this week though.

Yes, so much so that FOX let sites post "reactions" before the embargo lifted weeks later.

Nah. When the first reviews came out the embargo was over. Problem with FC was that there were literally only a handful of press screenings early on. They didn't expect such a positive reaction so had to scramble to get others set up. that's why I jumped on the first screening of this movie. didn't want the same thing to happen to me twice

The new tv spots have a ton of quotes so.. It should likely be this week.

There was an early screening with most of the major "fan blogs" like Collider, Slash Film, etc. They all posted their reactions (not reviews) not long after. Slash films was a video, actually.

Pretty much. But they have to play it safe. Once you lift an embargo reviewers are at liberty to talk at length about the film including spoilers. All they can do is ask you not to spoil stuff. You're not obligated to. Unfortunately some guys want to be FIRST to leak things online for hits when it doesn't serve the audience/fanbase.

Yeah I know. But that's because those guys were the only ones from the online-only community to have seen the movie. Long lead print doesn't count. They don't care about being first. Fox in particular doesn't do staggered embargo schedules. If they did I promise you my review would have been up last week :cwink:

Anyone know if any critics spots are online yet? Every since YouTube switched up their search engine I gave up using it to look for recently posted stuff

Yeah, YouTube searching has been a pain.

I work overnights at Newscorp, and we have ESPN playing on our tvs. There's literally a TV spot every commercial break.

Oh lord, you're in the belly of the beast. I have to go down there on Tuesday.

and thanks  I'll switch the TV on

I saw two TV spots during the Yankee game today. One had a quote from Scott Mantz at Access Hollywood: "Rejoice X-Men fans, this is the Wolverine movie you've been waiting for!" I believe was the quote.

The other one didn't have any quotes, but it was the first time I'd seen it.
