For some of us, seeing Hugh Jackman looking like he's flying right at you will be awesome. :awesome:

Haha If it was Psylocke flying to me in 3D I probably would not be complaining.

I just watched an old 60 minutes where Jackman was interviewed about his life. The dude is a really tough person to hate. Always seems incredibly humble.

Through all the interviews he's done you can tell he really wants this movie to be good and go places the other didn't. Really hoping they got it right this time.

hugh Jackman has been called one of nicest people In Hollywood.

Yeah, don't think I've ever heard anything negative about him. Seems to always carry himself in top form. Hopefully he makes an appearance at SDCC for both X flicks.

He's really cool. I've seen him on Broadway a bunch of times, and every time I've seen some jackass scream "WOLVERINE!!!!!" outside the theater, which would understandably annoy the crap out of most actors, he's been crazy nice about it. Just cheered right back at them.

There was a video once where someone was screaming that from the hotel across the street from the theater and he heard them, looked up and gave them a thumbs up! A few times when I was at one of his shows Wolverine came up too.

Meanwhile, appearance at Comic-Con:

UPDATE: Panels are coming from the studios including Twentieth Century Fox (“The Wolverine”), Sony (“RoboCop” and “The Amazing Spider-Man 2”), and Marvel (“Thor: The Dark World” and “Captain America: The Winter Soldier").

Last time I saw Boy From Oz, we were across the street from the stage door and some guys were climbing on construction scaffolding and screaming "WOLVERINE!!" (another yelled "CYCLOPS!! ). Hugh gave them a thumbs up as he was still signing autographs and then waved at them again from his car when he was leaving.

At one of the other BFO shows I saw, a guy who came in late - clearly on purpose - made an X-Men joke to get a big laugh from the audience. Hugh used that guy for target practice for the rest of the show. He made the guy get up and dance, then gave him dance lessons because he didn't like the way the guy was dancing...by the end of the show, the guy was practically hiding under his seat.

It was seriously the funniest, most epic takedown of an annoying audience member that I've ever seen. :funny:

I know what they are going for. I never said he had flying powers, you took both my comments way too literal for some reason. And no, I don't think it looks believable or realistic. Like MagnarTheGreat said it looks like an excuse for things to fly at you in 3D. It looks incredibly fake and staged to me, which is why I don't like it.

Lol I know, I wasn't really directing it toward you, but just generally. I don't think he looks like he's flying, it's just a cool moment to me, it's scary and wolverine like in my opinion. More so than the other "flying" moments that were much worse in x3 and origins.

With what there is to compare it to, it looks a thousand times better than a good handful of superhero action scenes from both marvel and fox.. I just can't express how much better it looks than x3. You wanna talk about staged, every action scene in that movie felt staged. So I'm happy.

I understand where your coming from though, but I don't see how they could have done it any better. Yes the flick is in 3d but i honestly believe that shot would be the same if it wasnt. it's still a good shot of wolverine coming at you claws first. It doesn't scream cheap 3d for the sake of 3d, like water drops, slow motion stuff flying at the screen, captain Americas shield being thrown into the camera constantly, or random first person stuff. So far it's really the only 3d esque shot I've seen from all the trailers and clips. There's been a lot of cheap 3d effects lately in a fair share of comic movies anyway.

In fact im sure this would be a horrible movie to see in 3d haha.

I thought that new clip was solid, I'm not seeing the complaints on this one. I thought it looked shoddy in the early trailers, but here, as I said, solid.

I think since it is an edited clip thats why it felt off. I remember when they released faora vs that general in smallville for mos it was completely different from the movie version so i hope it's the same case for this clip too

Is the runtime confirmed? Cineworld lists 129 minutes. Promising.

Yeah it did look heavily edited too, hopefully it will appear better in the final thing.

Maybe the scene will play better for me when I see the film. I really want to like it haha. I want to see Wolverine actually doing some cool fighting , and not so much dodging set piece obstacles. Right now it really feels like a forced set piece, I would have been happier watching him fight them inside the train. But who knows how this plays within the film as whole. We shall see. The best action scenes with Wolverine to me have always been the more personal fights and not the CGI fest stuff. I think it just works for the character better and is an easier sell.

The action scene that has me the most stoked from the trailer is the one on one fight at night where he is fighting Shingen (I think).

The clip was not impressive but hopefully thats just a "clip-edit", and the one that we will see in the movie is longer.

probably not. The same was done with x3 and origins clips, they were actually like that in the movie. I highly doubt this is a special clip edit. But it's still out of context, with build off and finish it should work a lot better in the flow of things.

Nothing was wrong with the editing that I saw thankfully.

Here's another tv spot, with more Silver Samurai.

Yeah, it does seem edited-- particularly at the beginning, when he turns his head and pops his claws. Seems like they cut a bit out.

seems like people want a grounded movie with very little super hero spectacle

Wolverine's not a "spectacle" type of character in the Superman or Avengers sense. IMO, his solo stuff is best when it's low-key and intimate. The "big" stuff should be with the X-Men. The train sequence seems to be the most tentpole-y sequence, and I'll be happy if that's the case, because it was big without being too ridiculous in my opinion. It felt like there was a certain gravity to it, and I like seeing everyone holding on for dear life.

I'm really excited for the other less extreme action sequences. They seem way more intense and violent than what we've seen in the other films. Honestly, I'm pretty sure he's killed more people in the previews than in the entirety of Origins.

A few responses from the footage of the bullet train sequence that was screened a few weeks ago:

From JoBlo.com:

The train scene was the highlight of the day. Logan has to face a number of Yakuza inside a Japanese train car and by this time he’s already gained back his mortality. Wow, this Wolverine doesn’t give two ****s about killing. Remember that moment of hesitation he had before unleashing his claws on the SWAT guys in X2? Not here, not when his life is actually on the line. It’s full on berserker from the get go. This was the most realistically choreographed fight I’ve seen in the series and the beginning reminded me of the trailer park fight between The Bride & Elle in KILL BILL VOL 2, remember when Elle couldn’t get her sword out because it was too cramped inside? Yeah, they play with the claustrophobic space of the train car well here too. I was surprised at how great the set piece looked when the action got on top of the train car; it looks much better than it did in the first few trailers. It’s also really engaging because the choreography of the fight demands Logan use some thought in how he’ll attack; it’s not just slash, slash, slash. At 300 MPH it becomes a game of chess with some of the goons. There is a great gag I won’t give away here, but rest assured the film delivers some excellent and fitting humor that never breaks the tension. Yeah, this is a terrific action scene.

From Latino Review:

The action sequences are very top notch, and the second half of the bullet train scene looks fantastic and is thrilling to watch. If this is what the rest of the movie will be like in regards of quality and action, audiences will have a blast watching “The Wolverine.”

I hope they do 10+ more films in this X-men universe. Some fans cry about Hugh Jackman and complain that the films would be better with a different actor and can be successful without him but to the public and movie going audiences The Wolverine is Hugh Jackman. Plus the fact that Fox owns these movie rights and not Marvel is pointless. Fox is 7 X-men films in and shows no signs of stopping. So accept this truth that you can't change that fact and enjoy these films on their own merit and not hate them just because Fox owns them. And to say Fox is just after money is stupid. It has the same goals as every other studio out there.
