Cannot believe that so many people liked the movie so much!

I saw it yesterday. Since its already out here in Germany and it was horrible. I am not joking.

The setting is great, the actors are cool and the movie is pretty good for the first act. After the Bullettrain scene everything goes downhill pretty fast.

Mild SPOILERS follow, but nothing that important plotwise:

There really is not much of a thematic reason for Logan to loose his healing factor, which I already feared from the trailers. Only bonus is, he doesn't give it up willingly, which the trailers didn't really show. It comes across as a cheap ploy to heighten the suspense, which is cheap writing in my mind, like all the Smallville episodes where Clark lost his powers.

The fight scenes are absolutely run of the mil, straight to video stuff. There is one fight against Shingen which is pretty cool looking, but due to lighting and set. The final confrontation is very CGI heavy and its by far the worst CGI of a big tentpole movie this summer. Apart from that, the final fight is also incredibly stupid written and boring.

My biggest let down is the ninja fight scene in that village, which was teased heavily in the trailers. I was so pumped for this, since Logan is all "You only brought those guys?", but then he fights two, then proceeds to run away from the conflic and gets taken down without much of a fight. WHAT?!?! I really hoped that they use this scene to show whatt a badass he is, but nope. They also cut a lot of action that you saw in the trailers from the movie. For example, the scene in that small ninja village, where Logan destroys a generator or something like that, which creates a big explosion that takes out a lot of Ninjas? Its not in the movie.

Oh and the Viper is a villain straight out of that Mutant X show, back in the day. What a crap performance!!! I loathed every single shot she was in.

SPOILERS OVER

Huge letdown. Really. All the talk from Hugh that we get to see the Berserker rage and all that... Nothing is there. Wolverine had more badass scenes in Wolverine Origins and Last Stand then in this one. He really came across as weak. Oh man, I am so bummed about this. I even bought a new Wolverine shirt for the preview night.

Overall, as bad as it sounds, I liked Origins a bit more. Sure, its also a very bad film, but it had at least a few cool moments. Oh yeah, and Last Sand is actually a good movie, compared to this. Its really sad. At best it would get a 6/10 from me, but thats only because the Japan stuff looks nice and I really like Wolverine. Without that fan bonus its a 5/10 movie for me. Cannot believe how it has such a good score on rotten tomatoes.

My take on the middle end credits scene is...... SPOILERS
Old Wolverine, if you want to tag spoilers, it's best to use either the (BLACKOUT)(/BLACKOUT) tags (replace the () with []) which will do this (highlight to see): [blackout]HI![/blackout]
or else the (SPOILER)(/SPOILER) (again, replace the () with []) tags which will do this:
HI!!!
That way no one (like me) will accidentally see a spoiler that they don't want to see when they scroll through your post

Bro! take a chill pill...... geesh!

I have no idea what movie you were watching because most of the stuff you said (at least to me) is not true.

Anyhow, that's your take on it and I must respect that.

Just relax.... Comic to Screen isn't an exact science.

i remember reading that the movie was supposed to have a scene where wolverine wears yellow and blue tights (for some theater play if i remember correctly.) was it real and they just took it out of the movie or another case of hopeful internet speculation?

X3 and Origins better movies than The Wolverine? Lmao, that's your opinion and that's fine, but technically that isn't true. If we're looking at script, structure, effects, and everything else that makes a movie a movie, The wolverine comes out on top.

ya, it's been sometime since I have been on message boards.

Used the old way, oops!.. Thanks for the tip.

What is not true then? I would really like to know, since most people REALLY seem to have seen a totally different movie. And I am not angry, I am jealous.

For me it was a low budget, badly written mess, with very few redeeming qualities.
Its great if you guys loved it, but for me it was probably the worst X-film so far, at best on the level with Origins.

I also find it incredibly rude that you give me a statement like that, just because our opinions seem to differ. What you want me to take is no chill pill, its a pink glasses pill.
Its great if you loved it, more power to you, but I really didn't.

I will rewatch it when its out on Blu, so maybe it grows on me then, but yesterday in the theatre... my oh my... for me it really was on the level with all those early wuperhero movies, like Daredevil and the like. Really badly done, without much of a budget and without much of a plan.

No 2D showings at midnight tonight, gotta see it tomorrow night. :(

That's what annoys me the most about TW. I recommend avoiding the 3D if at all possible, it's very poor. Really darkens the picture, obfuscates the action. Worst I've seen.

Other than that, TW is pretty fantasic

I'll have to see it again (and I will) before deciding on how much I really like it but I'd tentatively put it just behind X2 (though I also have to rewatch that, it's been ages).

take the RED pill or the Blue pill my friend.

Like I STATED if you would read "not true" (at least to me)

Relax Bub!!

I just don't see the film as being worse that X3 and Origins, heck it's better than Xmen and right up there with Xmen2. It's about the same as First Class IMHO!!

:wall:

The 3D was post production. It usaully is never good. They wanted more BO numbers is all.

DOFP is being filmed in 3D, big difference.....

I went back and edited that post. Thanks for helping out there, Silvermoon.

Everyone remember to use spoiler tags, please.

Thanks. :D I'm going tomorrow. First show of the day!

You'll like it! I did! And I got to meet Hugh before the movie! (no, I'm never going to stop bringing that up, so everyone just get used to it!) :oldrazz:

It's better than first class. FC had some cringeworthy moments. It's not an x-men movie, it's very much a wolverine movie.

I loved man of steel and did not think the action was over the top. For this I also didn't think the third act was as bad as people are making it out to be. It's a culmination of the events before it, and a big showdown. There's nothing cringeworthy about the film for me, all the battles and SFX worked great, all of it was well done!

Agreed. The way that third act was being criticized, I thought I wouldn't like it...but I thought it was fine. It was still a solid action sequence that the movie was building up to. I'd like to see more of that ninja fight (hopefully on DVD/blu-ray?), but I thought the movie as a whole really worked.

As far as X3, the most important thing to know was that Wolverine had been forced to kill Jean.

And even then, the way it works in the film I can see it being a reveal that would work well for anyone not knowing any of the past films.

They would basically be in the same postition as
Mariko
, "who is she, what happened?" and then Logan tells and it's like "oohh, I get it now".

It's very self-contained. Reminds me of IM3 in that way. The state of mind at the start of the film, and the arc for the rest of the film, for both characters are informed by events in the previous films. But you don't need to have seen those films because it's set up well enough for someone to get it quite easily.

Yarp.

Lol!

Serious question before we see it again, do you think meeting Hugh Jackman before the movie really impacted the enjoyment of the movie? I mean Do you think you liked it better than you would have? Thinking, hey I just met that person I'm watching on screen bring wolverine to life! Or so "star struck" that you ended up loving the movie more so.

I'm not sure how I feel about it yet... It's like it hasn't sunk in that we got to interact with Hugh before the movie and have that crazy event lol. I was so exhausted by the time the movie rolled around! Overall i don't think it had that big of an impact on what I thought of the movie, I was loving it, but I kept thinking about the event prior, during the movie! It's like I wasn't fully focused. Lol.

I know, we definitely got the enhanced experience, right? And a bunch of free stuff as well (I'm wearing that t-shirt tonight!).

And I got to go up on stage with Hugh, so I almost forgot we were even seeing the movie after that! I was still like :wow: in my seat for the first half-hour or so before I started getting into it.

So I'm glad I'm seeing it again tonight. I know I'll like it as much, but I'll be able to pay attention to it this time!

That whole thing was so freaking awesome, though.

I should also point out that I'm still working on that bag of M&Ms we got at the premiere too. I haven't finished them yet!

Well,

Well, Wolverine does get to do another take on his line from First Class. That's the only time that word was used, but he does swear more in this one than he did in the previous films. I didn't find it overdone or gratuitous, it just fit with the character and with the overall tone of the movie.

As far as X3, the most important thing to know was that Wolverine had been forced to kill Jean.

Thanks, was worried the real bad words were more often used.
Really hoping I'm going to enjoy this.

I couldn't wait, ia the them already! :o

We still have some junior mints though. But I hate those haha.. I should have just grabbed more, AMC was handing the candy out like they don't charge 8 dollars for a bag of m&ms :oldrazz:

LOL! I thought those trays of snacks were going right for the VIP section, not to us! :oldrazz:

Wow totally didnt expect the film we got, still a bit dazed and confused by all that happened in it, still trying to process it.

Need second viewing asap!
