Some kids can watch stuff that they show in movies like this without asking questions but I know mine can't. And I don't feel like explaining what a sex hotel is.

I took my 10 yr old niece to see The Wolverine. She loved it. I don't think the movie is particularly aimed at kids, but I didn't see much reason to exclude them watching the film.

Besides the violence and language and sexual themes?

I wouldnt really care to see an R rated wolverine movie. This movie proved that you can be pretty dark and violent and still be pg13.

Same here on both counts. I don't see the need to have to watch limbs being severed and heads getting lopped off. That's never been appealing to me nomatter the genre I'm watching.

Sometimes i think its more effective to cut away and let the imagination of the viewer fill in the blanks. Like the part where logan gets information out of that guy but we dont see what he did to the guy

Nor is it the point of Wolverine. Anyone who says wolverine must be R rated to work properly is pretty blind to what wolverine is in the comics. He does have certain runs that are extremely violent, but the majority of his stuff isn't.

I will re-iterate the comic book series this movie is based on doesn't have the much blood in it. The movie actually has more than the book its based on.
There is no reason to be saying this needs to be anymore violent to be better. The original Japan miniseries wasn't much loved because of the blood, violence and limb dismemberment. It was about the story and character, ...huh... much like this movie!

That being said I can't wait for the uncut Blu ray, just because i want to see more Jackman as wolverine mainly. I honestly don't care about the blood or gore that may have been cut. Its not about that for me, and it never was with Wolverine.

Agreed. Blatant, in your face violence is the visual equivalent of blatant, in your face exposition. I don't need or want everything explained or shown to me.

I want to be teased and challenged.. which is why I choose the Mission to Mars instead of the Dungeon.

Besides the violence and language and sexual themes?

Which were pretty light even though I nor her mother knew about that part beforehand. For the most part The Wolverine implied little and showed little. To me it was like the sexual themes in an episode of The Simpsons. Kids her age may get some things, but most will largely go over their heads.

About the worst thing there were a couple of girls in their underwear. Given the context of that scene and how it played out I don't have a problem with a ten year old seeing that.

The only thing I had to worry about was her saying "eww" out loud when Logan and Mariko kissed (which cut away just after). The violence isn't far above what you see in comics and comic book movies either. There were very few instances where the violence was explicit.

I can't help but be that little more glad for The Wolverine given what I heard every so often about the Aronofsky draft in the lead up to the film. For any flaws I think The Wolverine has I just can't see the Aronofsky version working half as well as some people seemed convinced it would have.

I was intrigued with the thought of Aronofsy doing this movie in the same way I would be intrigued with Tarantino doing a Star Wars movie. That doesn't mean I actually want to see it

Just got back from seeing it, loved it. Origins was already a long gone memory erased from my mind. But Wolverine was able to erase it even further haha. The film was beautiful in its style and setting, wolverine was great violent and badass. Yukio was my favorite besides Logan, she nailed it. And of course dat after credits scene (which I knew before seeing) gave me goosebumps. And it was great that the people who stayed to watched

Regarding kids in the theater, I didn't notice any walk in, but I know at least two people brought their flippin' BABIES I heard one cry at one point in the middle of the movie to my left and then during the credits (before the mid credit scene) another one cry to my right. I just... People who bring their infants to a PG-13 ACTION movie just make me and and

Then I also had the guy next to me (complete stranger) to deal with who seemed to want to have a running commentary with me throughout the film. Dude, you dont know me and even if I didn't know what 'gaijin' meant (which I do) I don't need you to tell me while characters are talking on screen and I'm trying to pay attention to the conversation THEY'RE having.

heck, even if I didn't love the movie, I'd go see it again just because of the theater experience I had (and hope I'd have a better one the 2nd time around)

I'm sure you'll enjoy the movie when you see it for the 2nd time.

The Wolverine is the type of the movie that will get people's reactions.

That sucks. Best advice I can give: take gummy bears to the theater. When kids are crying given them some. When an adult is acting like an a**hole lick one and throw it at them. Works every time

When I watched The Wolverine last Thursday, there were kids infront of me.

There were kids at both showings I saw. At the NYC show, the kid in front of us was all excited because he got a high-five from Hugh. He looked about 10.

And I saw a few kids at the 10pm show on Friday as well.

My nephew is 5, there's no way in hell he's seeing this for awhile. He loves Avengers, but he's only seen it on TV and usually at 10 minute intervals because he doesn't have the attention span for the whole thing at once. Iron Man 3 would have scared the crap out of him if we tried to take him to see it.

Well that's not really the parents fault. Blame Origins for being uber kid friendly and Fox has literally been marketing this a sequel. Same tone, feel, etc.

My parental rule of thumb is: No toys = not kid friendly

Marvel Studios movies = all audiences

Fox's (new) X-universe = adults

And I am 100% ok with that

Whether or not FOX's X-Universe has toys and other tie-in merchandise is not that studio's decision. Marvel may have given away the farm with the company's bankruptcy era movie deals, but per the pre Disney merger 10ks, they kept control of the merchandise. The lack of X-Men tie-in merchandise has more to do Disney/Marvel not wanting to set aside retail shelf space for characters they don't fully control than a change in tone for the X-Men series.

Interesting, just watched an I terrier with Hugh Jackman on Sky 1 and he said Chris Nolan told him that the first X-Men was part of the inspiration for his take on Batman. He liked the way it was done in the real world.

I enjoyed the movie over all... give it an 8/10 !

it was easily the best wolverine has ever been portrayed in any X-men Franchise film imo... and it was incredibly refreshing.

my only criticisms would be that i felt the film was a little long in some areas... and While I did love there take on Viper, i did get a bit lost as to what her real agenda was... They stated several times that she's "evil" and "out for herself" but.... they really never let us see what her end-game or motives were..... so i got a bit lost on that.

all the rest of the changes i felt actually made for a better film.

Harada still suiting up in armor (just not silver samuari's) and Yashida actually being the silver samuari i felt was pretty brilliant. I was horrified that SS would just be a robot...., and i was also very glad that Mariko wasn't killed in the end.

I think it's more that she views him as insignificant of no threat.
