The Story.

Just wanted to double check on something, but provided, IF in THIS film/story, we have Clark who's been proactively going out and saving people, albeit without showing himself, with his heroics inspiring people and the public creating urban legends about his mysterious heroics (albeit perhaps similar to what SV did) only to don the costume when Zod and co. start their invasion, how would you guys feel about that?

Strangely enough though, it wouldn't be the first time in Superman history where Clark didn't don the costume until after a certain event triggered him to. Case in point, I think int he Byrne Reboot, Clark donned the costume after having saved a crashing airplane while wearing his regular clothes, while Superman: Earth One showed Clark donning it after Earth was invaded.

The way i feel Clark shall be portrayed, as a decent American, raised with good human values, everything that is good about America, as make no mistake, America has its flaws, but also has many good traits. I feel, that he would want to help where he can, to put on a suit and parade himself as Superman is not his intentions, but once he realises he is publically exposed, he feels a persona is needed.
To wake up and decide to be a hero, is a bold step and something that, i personally find hard to associate with the moral character of Clark. It just makes him more public and prehaps self indulgent.

I guess like the propaganda angle used with Captain America

Had a thought about how Kal-El's ship could be powered. Jor-El could launch his ship before the sun explodes. The massive energy from the explosion of the sun is what activates the "sun/light drive" in Kal-El's ship, and his ship
1) Goes into lightspeed; or,
2) Enters a wormhole.

The "sun/light drive" could be a design based on an artifact Kryptonians
found in some caves of Krypton. It would be discovered that Kryptons first
settlers were actually from another planet....Earth. :wow: :awesome:
They themselves escaped the planet before the ice age hit due to a massive
meteor/comet that hit Earth causing an explosion that generated enough
energy for them to escape and make it to what we all now know as Krypton.

Jor-El uses the calculations/coordinates to send Kal-El back to where the
"ancients" came from.

Just a thought. :cwink:
No that would suck, didn't like it in red son and won't like it in any movie.

How come Krypton is so technologically advanced yet has no space travel again?

They should have space travel. But I also think that in certain versions of the story, the high council of Krypton prevents exploration outside of their planet because they are isolationists and are probably so because they are a totalitarian regime that took power after the civil war. It's also prevented by Brainiac in some instances so he can be the sole source of technology.

I don't know if I'd want it in a movie, but I think it's an interesting idea. What's your problem with it?

The concept actually didn't originate in Red Son btw. I don't know if it was a coincidence that Mark Miller used it in Red Son or not, but at a time when Jerry Siegel was working with Russell Keaton instead of Joe Shuster on developing Superman, they were going to use an origin where the last man on Earth would send his son back in time to save him from its impending destruction. I assume in that case, Superman would literally be an evolved human.

It would be great if Superman discovers more about his powers/Krypton through Hamilton. It is a more entertaining way to provide some exposition to the viewer as well imo.

I'm hoping we get to see Martha and Jonathan struggle to have a baby and trying to adopt like they recently showed in the action comics.....it was so touching to see how that was portrayed

it is interesting that in this movie he will be a story that lois is chasing, before he even becomes superman.

Yeah that's something we've not seen before, and if it is what it seems, it could be pretty cool :)

that isn't that hard to figure out from the photos we've seen. Mysterious happenings all around the world, ace reporter Lois Lane sent to track down whatever is going on...

Where did he say it was hard to figure out

He just said it's interesting. And I agree :)

and  i wasn't claiming it as insider info. not every post has to relate to that.

I was just saying that you don't have to be an insider or a genius to figure that out. It's pretty obvious just by looking at the leaked photos

Well yeah, it is obvious... but pointing that out seemed to suggest you thought we didn't know it was obvious... which we did :hehe:

I was just thinking how they are gonna handle supermans failures.....I liked how in Begins, when Bruce was in the elevator with Alfred, and he said I failed....I wonder how it's gonna be tackled in MOS

Well; I wouldn't be surprised if we have a scene or two about Superman being sad that he wasn't able to protect some people from harm's way, or that he wasn't able to get to a specific spot in time to rescue some other people...which will probably involve him being consoled by either his parents or Lois.

Yeah I see the same thing. I hope it's a scene we get between him and his Dad after he comes back from Alaska.

I just think it'd be great to have that moment, where you can see that Pa Kent is Superman's rock... the man whose words and guidance keep him strong, keep him going despite all the obstacles.

Yeah... the shots of him as a hobo are all from the setting of an alaskan fishing village where Clark is apparently doing some thinking :)

Apparently yes, because we dont really know for sure.

Just as it's not necessarily Lois chasing Kal-El around because of her being in Alaska to possibly cover the oil-rig incident.
Could just be that one incident before Zod enters the story.

But I think it would be an interesting way of tying their stories together.

Well, one way or another, I'm pretty confident when I say that I don't think Zod and Faora will be arriving on Earth empty handed. Given that Zod has two outfits on, one requiring CGI to incorporate, my belief is that he has a access to some type of alien storage (either ship...or something else) where he's able to come equipped with military equipment.

Or maybe he'll just co-operate with earth's military.
Are we to assume that being a general and a character of authority and code that Zod will try to sweet-talk and join forces with earth's generals to win them over to his favor in trying to get to Supes? And that way he wont be seen as the enemy at first?

I want this scene partly just to refute Aunt May's inaccurate perception of Superman that propagates his presumably infallible life. :o
