The Story.

I dont see why his powers couldnt manifest the moment he arrives. He's an alien after all, and an infant as well.
I perfer them revealing themselves slowly as he ages, without making it similar to X-men.
That would make for a more human Clark suddenly having to deal with this extraordinary situation as a child or a teen. That would make for some more entertaining scenes as well. A good way to introduce some non-forced humour into the story.

With his powers coming from the yellow sun, it wouldn't make sense for him to be immediately super powered anyway, would it?

I mean I'm no scientist, but I'm sure the effect wouldn't be instantanious the moment the the ship opened.
Not if you think of his cells as a solar-battery that charges over the years. Makes sense for him to be a bit stronger and healthier than an average kid but I think the powers should progress and evolve with maturity. None of the Smallville crap that takes 25 years for him to fly. He should fly by the time he is 18.

I wonder how they’ll go with Zod and Faora’s arc when it comes to them developing and learning to harness their own powers. They most likely wouldn’t have been on Earth as long as Clark was, and yet they’ll have to be as strong as him by the time they meet in their climatic battle, so I wonder what reasoning they’ll give there.

I guess it could be something like Clark gradually gaining his abilities as he grew older. Whereas Zod and Faora are already adults, so they would both gain them instantaneously, but I imagine them training their new abilities by causing havoc before battling with Supes :oldrazz:

Just have where niether one is as strong as Clark but double team him.

Actually I thought it might be cool if they had been on earth a few years, watching and learning and discovering their powers, trying to blend in until they were strong enough. And it's only Superman's arrival that brings them out of the wood work.

Heck, I'm still wondering on how they plan on covering all of these potential plots and arcs within this film.

Already, you have a most plausible origin story to cover and show Clark's development and transition into becoming the Man of Steel. Then you have to cover his connection with Krypton, bringing General Zod and Faora to Earth, having them interact with Superman, and finally building tension between them that results in a large scale fight.

Imho, this film is going to NEED the same running time that TDK had.

I hope it does have the same running time personally... But I dunno what's best in terms of the GA.

so what is the synopsis of the story?

No idea yet.

Rumours of a connection to Birthright (Clark as Journo in Africa), and Goyer said that the scene between Clark and Jonathon in Secret Origin where he says 'I don't want to be different, I want to be your son' inspired him.

But that's it. :)

I would love that.

Is it still true that Faora is the female lead? I find that so exciting, that there will be scenes with Zod, Faora and Kal-El all together, and that Kal-El going against the Kryptonian team may be a turning point in the film. I really can't wait to see how this is going to play out.

Goyer inspired by a comic is better than the SR writers inspired by Donner in a 15 minute flight.

They could easily explain that its because they are adults and therefore their bodies are more developed than a baby. That's why they got the powers faster than when Superman arrived.

Superman should school them on some moves, and they have to retreat in their first meeting. Even the 2 of them can't immediately take him out, due to his experience with power.

I think if you localise Clark's reason for wanting to help people too much, it'll come across too much like Batman Begins IMO. Like if you had him discover some really horrible crime in metropolis and have it spur him on to become it's protector.

I like the idea of the Birthright Africa thing (or any foreign country with a war time crisis) because it shows Superman reflecting on more than just the state of affairs in 'his city' but in humanity in general.

Oh, just though how cool it would be to show him trying to save a bunch of people after a bomb explodes when he's out there, and at the end when he's devestated because a couple of people died and he couldn't get to them, you see him spot the Luthorcorp logo on one of the bombs and trace it back to Metropolis. Hence wanting to get the job at the DP so he can start investigating why Luthor's weapons were in the hands of terrorists from the other side...

Or is that gonna be too similar to Iron Man?

boring.
btw, why must we see the reason??? it's just too dull and like all those typical superhero movies... audience will surely get bored.

he helps because he wants to and loves doing it. ok?

he doesn't have to see the world's disasters, injustice, cruelty, people suffering, uncle dying or father dying in order for him to realise that he have to do something. ok?

he just does it because he loves it. suffice?

no will not suffice...i hope you don't make movies if you think that's how they should be done.

"why does Spider-Man fight for good and not evil?" "i dunno, just because.....JUST LOOK AT HIM SWINGING THROUGH THE CITY AND FIGHT BAD GUYS WHO HAVE NO BACKSTORY!!!"

"how did Captain America come to be?" "who cares? he just LOOOOVES America and will protect it from any sort of threat!"

"where did Iron Man get his suit from?" "not sure, but HE CAN FLY AND SHOOT STUFF FROM HIS HANDS!!! NO EXPLANATION NEEDED, HE CAN JUST DO IT!"

some of the worst movies are made because there is LITTLE to NO EXPLANATION for the events and actions that appear in the movie. the more you can flesh out the story without sacrificing the important scenes, the better and more engrossing the movie will be.

^Yeah, SF2, providing the reason is why people who don't read comics watch these things. If you want something where 'he just does' is good writing, you have to watch kids cartoons.

First of all, I said nothing about and uncle or father dying. In fact I have been quite vocal about why I don't want his reasons for becoming Superman to be because he lost somebody close to him.

And I also think that he should want to become Superman because he wants to help people, end of.

But there is nothing wrong with visualising why we so badly need his help.

There is nothing wrong with making Clark someone interesting enough to have learned to see the best in humanity by getting to experience so many different cultures, but understanding the worst of it by seeing the consequences of greed and selfishness and war at close hand.

He wants to help because he is a good person. But I think we should see him dealing with exactly what he will have to do to help people really. Being more than just a guy zipping in to save people in random situations he comes across. But actually combatting the evils behind the crime and war that put people in damger in the first place by becoming an example and an inspiration for hope, for truth, for justice etc, and exposing people like Lex Luthor for their corruption.

He's Superman, champion of the opressed! Not Superman, saves people sometimes just 'cause he nice.

You think that's boring?

Well not to go all school girl on you but... No your boring :p

I'm currently writing a script for MOS 2......yeah, I know. There isn't a first yet, but I've already got it in my head what it goes like.

Clark becomes Superman.
Earth is scared of Superman.
Zod arrives.
Superman saves the day and is accepted. Done :awesome:

So heres how my sequel goes.

IA couple of months has passed, and Superman is help saving the world. Lex appears in this movie, and is doing shifty things. Lex is in league with a new and mysterious criminal organization, Intergang. Intergang has somehow managed to gain access to brand new and advanced technology, its origins are as mysterious as the gang itself. Lex becomes partners with the leader, Morgan Edge. LexCorp becomes the most powerful company in the world, generating a new world through the technology. Superman however soon discovers Lex's dealings with Intergang, which causes the 2 to clash for the first time.

So this movie will include
Lex
Intergang
Metallo
Lex's power suit
Superman's battle armour
Reference to Darkseid
And ending with the cliffhanger of Doomsday waking up!!!

And its a ***** to write :)

Not sure if this is really surprising or believable, but Supermanhomepage reports that Cavill has labeled the screenplay for MOS as being fantastic and one of the best that he's read, so I would hope that it stays true to what the actors says and that he's not simply stating that because he's attached to the project.lol
