Some are labeling this the best of the DCEU. So good to hear such high praise.

For some folks, every new DCEU movie falls in one of the two categories, either it's worst of DCEU or it's the best of DCEU, no in between.

Yeah, Gunn's success with earlier GoTG films helps a lot, that experience might have helped him while making this film. Plus, Ayer's SS film did some heavy lifting when it comes to introduction of main TSS characters (Amanda Waller, Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang and Rick Flag) People liked those characters, familiarity with characters also helps the movie even if it's soft-reboot.

Also, while the first movie wasn't great, but it wasn't outright hated (unlike some fans think) it did have fans and got an Academy award and was financially successful, so while the bar is low but there's some residual goodwill there.

I agree. Outside of really one part I still like the film and am not ashamed of it.

This incessant need for people to say "best film since..." is just awful. It is ok to say "The film is good. Full stop". The hyperbole bloggers and tweeters throw out there is just annoying sometimes.

Funny how the the same guy who plays Polka Dot man(David Dastmalchian) in this movie is also the same guy who plays Calender Man in the animated Long Halloween movie which I just coincidentally finished watching again when I saw this, lol.

Man I am definitely getting more and more excited for this by the day eventhough these early reactions usually end up being more exaggerated and hyperbolic than anything else.

I do believe this is going to be a great movie though and I'm still waiting for that awesome comic-book/superhero to come out since Black Widow just didn't quite hit the mark for me.

Between the reactions this has been getting and the fact that he’s already had a hand in Shazam (which I loved) and Aquaman (which was imperfect, but a movie about the most joked-about superhero of all made over a billion dollars, so I consider that a win), it might not be a bad idea to put Peter Safran on as many DC projects as possible.

I feel very good about this one, but I gotta admit I still I still have PTSD from WW84. those early reactions were overwhelmingly glowing (I remember the words "Epic," ambitious" and emotional" being thrown around a lot). and then it turned into a bloodbath once the RT critics got their hands on the movie.

Oh this will definitely be much better reviewed than WW84(which I don’t hate BTW). ViewerAnon, who sounded the alarm about the bad WW84 test screenings has said TSS has done well with test audiences. WW84 early reactions always felt like the critics were going easy on it and giving it pass because it provided a palate cleanser of sorts to how bad and traumatic a year 2020 was, so they were more willing to forgive that movie’s many problems because it was hopeful and optimistic. Heck the highest praise most of them could give that movie was exactly that it was hopeful and optimistic — which already gave off major red flags. This, however, seems to have gotten genuine good reviews even from tough critics who were skeptical going in. There’s even reviews calling it the best DC film ever( which is probably hyperbolic, yes, but still a good sign nonetheless).

So I assure you this won’t be a repeat of what happened with WW84. This looks like a real winner, man.

Isn't Peter Safran Executive Producer on most upcoming DC movies ?
Black Adam, Shazam 2, Aquaman, and The Suicide Squad ? Only The Batman and The Flash don't have him as EP.
