I didn't know who he is either, I had to look him up... he's definitely older than Tom: he's nearly 43.

If you'd ever seen Angel or Buffy, he played Spike.

Here's his IMDB page:

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0551346/

...............oh schiiiiiiiit!

I just IMDb'd him.

Spike?

SPIKE?

Aaaaaa! I do hope this is some silly rumor. :(

Could it be something as simple as the premiere date? Y'all know The WB announced Sept 29th for SV, right?

I don't know who James Marsters is; I never watched Buffy. I saw 20 minutes of an episode once. That was more than enough. Definitely NOT my kind of show. Is Marsters older, 'cause it might be weird if he's of similar age to Welling when Welling has *already* played Jor-El.

So that is true about the 29th. I saw it and wasnt sure. I wonder where that leaves us with episode 12.

I tried to watch Buffy, Sarah Michelle Whatever used to make me want to puke. Never liked the concept of the show either. A bit silly in my opinion.

Craig said that one of the two rumours (i.e. Dean Cain or this James Marsters) was a ruse, and considering there has been more talk about James Marster.... I'm kinda thinking he is the ruse. If its not, lets hope he dies his hair.

*ahem* read my post... He'll be 43 on August 20th.

Ive seen him without blonde hair in some movie, almost totally unrecognizeable. I like him, I think he is good. Spike is just a character, not the actor.

Dunno. They have short hiatuses and preemptions when you least expect it, so knowing exactly when the 100th episode will be is kind of a shot in the dark.

Yeah, folks here have discussed the Buffy-verse. I couldn't get into it, and if a show is painful to sit through for 20 minutes, I have little patience to give it another minute of my time. A good friend of my husband and mine thinks it was the best show on TV, so we gave it a shot once...

...And then shot it clear out of the sky. LOL DEFINITELY not something we found even remotely entertaining. We both kept looking at each other waiting to see who'd crack first and reach for the remote. Was kind of funny. Needless to say, we make fun of our good friend Paul now for liking the show. Just harmless needling.

Heh, yeah, I know. I've just always seen him looking like Billy Idol. Truth be told, I know NOTHING about him, but if he's cast, the benefits could outweigh any drawbacks. As we all know, Buffy was a VERY popular show. I'm sure there would be a lot of interested Buffy fans watching the show on the nights he was on, so it's all good.

As to Dean Cain, I like him. [ducks from hurled tomatoes] If he makes a guest appearance, that would be cool in my book.

But NOTHING would beat Gene Hackman. Oh, gawd! If they got GH, I'd be in freakin' AWE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Doesn't get any better than that ladies and gentlemen.

Okay, I guess I'm lost... what's the nature of these rumors and where are you reading them?

Kryptonsite is still silent on the whole thing...

I think it was rumoured on the Buffy Universe Site.

Okay, so the premiere has been confirmed at Ksite. Why would it be so late in comparison to their other shows. Beats me. I do not understand this world of television. Not that it worries me it starting late, in fact I prefer it, my mother in law, brother in law etc etc. fly in on Sept 13 and stay for a couple of weeks, so their visit wont interfere with Smallville's premiere. :)

I'm stilll confused...

Well actually it seems that he is going to be playing Brainiac.

Wow.. I feel like I'm missing BIG news here! But all I see announced is the premiere date. I wonder if that was the big news or if there's more coming?

Anyway.. I wasn't a die-hard Buffy fan, but I certainly watched it whenever I could. I have to admit, I watched primarily for the humor, the show cracked me up. I won't go into a whole Buffy discussion, just suffice it to say that there were some truly AMAZING things done in that show, plot-wise, character-wise.. during it's run. Like most shows, you had to be more than just a casual viewer to appreciate much of what was actually done. I'm a fan of Joss Whedon though.. Firefly still is one of my all-time favorite shows (that barely aired;)).. and you know I'm WAY too excited about the new Serenity movie. Joss is also handling the new Wonder Woman movie.. which has some fans worried, but not me.. I love how Joss casts and writes his female characters.

James Marsters as Spike was just great.. but I can't see him AT ALL as Jor-El..

What about Brainiac?

In STAS Braniac's voice is fairly deep, I don't remember Marsters having a deep voice...

If he were anything, I would think Zod. Marsters looks nothing like Superman, so how he'd pass as a Jor El, I dont know, and besides, Welling already played Jor El. With Zod's pals Showing up this season, they will have to explain who Zod is, and what better way then having him appear? So thats my vote.

I probably don't know enough about Brainiac's character to judge, but I think Marsters has the talent to pull it off just fine. Spike was a character that underwent HUGE changes from when he first met him until the end. He started out as a major bad guy.. kinda weasely but evil.. and ultimately was a romantic/tragic lead. He always walked that line of good and bad, which of course made for a more interesting character. Interestingly..Spike had a pretty thick Cockney(?) accent.. and James Marsters is an American. True Brits might disagree, but to my Yankee ears, he did a pretty good job always maintaining that accent. His voice isn't particularly deep..just average I'd say. Of course, Mxy wasn't a midget either. :)

well, here he is without the blonde hair....

Wh wha what??? Wherja read THAT?

Someone posted a Ksite link within the forums, with the news on it. And this guy would not have put it up and less he knew it to be true. He is and absolute stickler (sp?) for the rules.

What was Brainiac's character all about. I forgot.
