is that, if you like them together or not, Clark and Lana will NEVER go anywhere. I mean, we've had to stick with their little love story for seven years, and oh yeah, he ends up with Lois! It's pretty clear that Smallville isnt an exact prequel to any of the Superman mythos, but I cant imagine they will let clark end up with Lana and blow Lois off. Unless they go all silver age on us and give us Superman red and Superman blue. Huh, thats not bad....

It's called dramatic irony.

We know it won't work out, but they don't.... The road to discovering that, and Clark becoming the man that pulls on the tights and Lex becoming his enemy, is the journey they're all on.

Well, it's like life, sometimes you think someone is the one and then that special girl comes in out of nowhere, blindsides you and makes you realize she was the one all along, and what you thought was the one was only the runner-up to her.

That's real.

I usually don't like stories with an unhappy ending and I try not to think about the fact that THIS story is going to feel tragic if Lana and Clark go their separate ways...

Part of that is because we have spent YEARS with this romantic tension and chemistry between them (TW and KK sizzle together)... And they made the mistake of introducing Lois into the mix here... way too early. I thought he was supposed to smitten with Lois from the day he met her, but here he just finds her irritating (and I can see why). Now we have a side-by-side comparison, and I don't feel any chemistry or tension between Lois and Clark.

IF they had wanted the "he ends up with Lois" to be more believable and desirable for everyone (not just comic fans) IMO, he should not have met her here... and she should blow him away when he does meet her, not annoy him.

In one of the DC Comics continuities, Superman was able to rapidly vibrate his face, thus changing his appearance to the naked eye. Another version of the story had his face physically change when he became the Man of Steel. I also read a fanfic once, where Kal-El wore a Kryptonian "flesh mask" while acting as Superman, and removed it for his role as Clark. Any of these scenarios could work for the end of "Smallville", or Al & Miles could invent their own method.

i totally agree.

Lois Lane worked well for Crusade but then outstayed her welcome very shortly afterwards.
