The Tobey Maguire/Peter Parker Thread

All this talk about benching is exhilarating and everything, but kinda doesn't belong here. Just saying.

Dude, omnid, nobody was even talking to you. Not to mention I was joking with Venom anyway so please, don't respond to anymore of my posts.

Seriously, back the hell off, I wasn't talking to you, & anyone with half a brain could tell I was joking. It's not like I'm just going to argue with him for making a joke. Now get off my case & stop harassing me.

Stop talking to me.

Anyway, getting back to what I said a few pages back, I believe replacing Maguire would be a big mistake. He's a great actor & right now I don't think anyone who is currently acting that is around his age could pull off a better Peter Parker/Spider-Man than him.

Back on topic..

That images of Tobey playing with his baby and wife were taken in the last few monthsa year after he finished work on SM3. You do see him without his shirt on in sM2 and through the ripped shirt in SM3. There was no flab (or definition, but no flab) so he was in better shape in those movies than he is in those photos.

Oh well.

Gotta agree with this, for me he just got better and better with each movie, and i can only see him getting better again in a 4th movie, i hope he comes back.

I do agree with him getting better & better. He also began saying even more & more quips.

I really wouldn't care if they replaced him. He's nothing to write home about, really. I suppose it is better that he stays on board, though.

Yeah, Tobey will always be the perfect Peter parker/Spider-Man. People want to see how other actors can play him, but I really think they wouldn't play him anywheren ear as good as Tobey does.

but i think we should give other people a chance

Tobey is a great choice, as he showed in the first two movies, but the third one he dropped the ball. He showed no evolution for Peter. He did not appear more confident (as he should have been), and he was still a big whiner. After the journey he went through in the first two films, this was unacceptable. He acted as if Peter had not changed at all.

I disagree, he did and awesome job in Spidey and he acted as if he changed. He was confident and obssesed with himself for the first half of the film. In the first two films, nothing was going right for him.

Now that's where I disagree. I just think that no one else could pull off the role for this franchise since they've made Peter a certain way. In another franchise that could be started years from now, I'd definitely want someone besides Maguire as Spider-Man.

:up:agreed

One type of franchise Maguire definitely wouldn't be able to do well in would be an "Ultimate Spider-Man" franchise. That's where much younger actors would have to come in. Otherwise, he's doing great in this type of franchise & I hope to see more of him in the future Spider-Man movies.

I actually think Topher would have been great in an Ultimate Spider-man type role. I can see him pulling off the witty side of Spidey much better then Mcguire could.
