The Tobey Maguire/Peter Parker Thread

I dont see how anyone couldnt like Tobey in this role, i hope he comes back for Spidey 4 as it would be hard for me to imagine anyone else in the costume.

I personally thought some of his acting throughout the trilogy was superb.
I completley agree! By the way, people who say Tobey is getting too old to Peter parker/Spider-Man, then they should look at oneo f my teacher. My teacher is 36 and I saw him on "Who wants to be a millionare". He shaved his beard and he looks very young, so I just thought would share this as an example. :spidey::up:

Yes, people who think TMags is too old should look at your teacher because we all know who he is and we all think if your supposed teacher can look young by shaving the fuzz off his face, the same can apply to any man. :whatever:

Personally, I think TMags should move on to other projects. He has no obligation to satisfy the fans or the general audience. He made that clear from the get go before sm1 was even released. I think critics will agree that he had a good stint but with 3 movies in the bag, sm3 being bashed from here to heaven and a supposed release date of 2010 not to mention TMags getting or at least making some sort of attempt, if at all to get into shape, it' s not worth it. He's made his money. He should use that money on projects he plans to setup and start. I think it's time he passes on the torch to someone else and for us fans to have a different interpretation of the character.

oh wooooooow, I'm really crying. Your sarcasm doesn't affect me. :whatever:

You know who would be a good Spider-Man/Parker...Topher Grace...too bad he was already in one...

I dont even want tobey, raimi or the same cast - hell even the sequels.

I think they should leave it a while and start a new series.

I actually think that Spider-Man 4 should be the last movie for this franchise. Afterwards, they should leave the Spider-Man movies alone for a few years & then restart with an Ultimate Spider-Man movie franchise with either Shia LaBeouf as Peter Parker/Spider-Man.

SM4 should really be a restart as far as cast/crew goes. You know, no reboot, no origin again, just vague references to the Raimi universe, etc. If they do a reboot, then they should wait at least some 5 years to do so.

Totally agree. Well said. Well, other than the first part. I have no idea what you're saying there.

That isn't a bad idea. But not too sure about Labeouf...maybe a no name actor, but thats just my opinion anyway.

I disagree, I think they should do 4, 5 and 6. As for Ultimate Spider-Man, I already said my feelings about that.

An usm movie is kind of pointless, that sort of market should be left to the computer games and cartoon medias. Continue with sm 4,5 and 6, with a new cast and director.

I actually think LaBeouf could pull off a great Spider-Man, he's pretty damn funny if you ask me & he has that scrawny teenager look that says "I wasn't very popular in high school." or at least for movies. If he were to add on just 10 lbs of muscle & get toned, he'd be perfect for the role.

These internet *******s just want attention, simplest form of action is to ignore them.

Tobey is honestly getting old. He plays a really good nerdy Peter Parker, but it's getting old.

We need someone with a new vision for Peter, Nerdy..yet cool... and someone that doesn't make Peter's life look worse off than suicide.

New Cast, New director. If it fails, then we wait for the reboot later on. Win-Win.

Tobey is too old, too out of shape, and too "good" for Spider-man. Kirsten Dunst is.....enough said.

New peeps!

Yeah, that's probably why they should start the Ultimate Spider-Man franchise & make him more of a happy go lucky teenager with only a few problems & not a bunch of problems piled onto one another.

Toby Maguire did really good as Spider-Man. A bit nerdy as Peter Parker, naive and troubled but as soon as he placed on the costume he became confident. TMags did a good job portraying that, the crying at the end of Spider-Man 3 was honestly the only part I thought was just bad acting from him, the rest was all decent to pretty good.

We've had Toby for three movies now and I enjoyed his run. At most I could see him doing only one more, Spider-Man 4. But now- or right after the next, it is time for a new Spider-Man(as it is also time for a new director, a new vision). Toby's getting older and doesn't seem to be as dedicated as he could be either. There are hotter young, well versed stars out there that could do just as well, even better than Toby.

The Raimi, Maguire, & Dunst run was long, and overall went very well.
