Props to Tobey for his trilogy of Spider-man movies. He did a damn fine job. Quick comment, however ... those complaining about the lack of classic Spider-man quips and witty comebacks and dialogue ... that wasn't Tobey's fault. That's how Raimi wanted to put Spider-man on screen. I remember an interview for the first movie addressing this topic. He said something to the effect, he was worried audiences wouldn't take him seriously, or get sucked into the threatning moment or buy intot he sense of urgency if he was ALWAYS making quips like he does in the comics. But beyond that, there is some great one-liners from Spider-man through out the movies. Could there have been alittle more? Sure, but that isn't Tobey's fault. And for the most part, I agree with Raimi. I think it would have effected the seriousness of the movie in a negative way if there was too many quips. Hell, when Tobey delivered the quips, it wasn't wooden or stiff, they were completely hilarious.
"Cute outfit, did your husband buy it for you?"
"Let mom and dad talk for a minute, will ya?"
"Here's your change."
Hopefully we see more in the 3rd.
The only problem I have is this, I think Topher Grace (like Christian Bale for Batman) was born to play the role of Spider-man / Peter Parker. There are so many innate and natural qualities that lend themselves to those characters via said actors. I personally think Topher would've been an even better Spider-man / Peter Parker than Tobey. And that is saying ALOT. My only wish is that someone else would've been casted as Eddie, so if they decide to make future Spider-man movies, Topher could've played the main character.
