USM is not a bad show only it portrays spiderman in weird way more like Deadpool version of spiderman .
The animation quality is also good and more appealing than Spectacular spiderman maybe that's why its taking liking by GA .
I was hoping we could get a Deadpool Animated series in this style .
Spectacular Spider-Man has much better animation IMO. It has an artistic style of its own while USM has a generic Disney look to it.

Show just got renewed for a third season and is continuing. Last year it was the #1 animated show in the key demos for Disney XD. Obviously the show is doing well and is a success. Success speaks for itself.

As I said, that is because little kids (3-6/7) will literally watch anything you put on TV for them. That's not really saying much. Any show will be a success with that particular age group. On the other hand, shows like Batman TAS and JLU were a far bigger success due to being watched by not only that age group but also by older kids (6-12), teenagers, and adults. That is why those shows left such a legacy behind. Where will USM be in 10 years from now?

I hate when people who don't know anything about Spider-Man will look at a show like that and say, "See? Spider-Man is stupid."

Not a Fan of USM but I am in Animation Field Myself and as far I know The Art style of USM looks more Adult Theme than Spectacular and it looks close to X-men evolution type art .also, It is not easy to to get such quality Animation without Heavy Efforts.
Spectacular spiderman art was Good but completely different than spiderman genre till now though the story line was great in particular to USM .
And as far as we know Anime style is Largely Appreciated today and the Chibi Style jokes used in on going USM series make current audience of kids buy whatever shown on TV hence , the show wont cancel .

I'm at work, and there is literally a guy a few desks away watching Ultimate Spiderman - who do I see but Deadpool!

They actually have a gun-wielding maniac in that show? I'm tempted to watch a little bit of that show, but all i've heard are bad things :csad:

People i know that are artists prefer Spectacular's style to Ultimate Spider-Man's generic look. And what the hell is wrong with the parts i bolded? X-men Evolution's designs also had an identity of their oun and Spectacular's was both unique and pratical.

Does anyone else think SSM is better than Batman: TAS (or at least on par with it)?

I think both represent the best animated series for their respective heroes. Since I'm partial to Spidey, I prefer SSM.

Same. Also, SSM has story arcs that take place over a number of episodes, something Baman: TAS doesn't have.

It's hard to agree to this with the large difference between the number of episodes both shows have, and the influence B:TAS had on comics and TSSM didn't

A show doesn't need to have multiple episode long story arcs in order to be good or exceptional in my mind.

The end scenes on this week's Ultimate Spider-Man with Peter and Stan were great. I appreciated the nod to Steve Ditko as well.

I am thinking everyone spent all day yesterday arguing about how terrible Ultimate Spider-Man is that they missed yesterday's episode Stan by Me with Lizard.

I don't think that's a bad thing, the great thing about Batman: TAS was how each episode was its oun self centered story, it was very similar to the 40s Superman shot films.

Batman TAS was also very experimental, i think it was a better show, but Spectacular wasn't very far behind, i'd say it was probably the 2nd best superhero cartoon.

Like "For Your Eyes Only" and the second Beetle episode before it, this episode displays a Spider-Man who can hardly fight against a villain, and is outclassed in fighting that villain by a S.H.I.E.L.D agent or more
But unlike those, Spider-Man was a wimp in this fight, he needed to be saved from a supervillain by MJ, old Stan, even Coulson with his super uppercut. This is a more embarrassing moment for Spider-Man in this show

I enjoy this show, but episodes with moments like the ones in this one are depressing to watch

Spider-Man couldn't fight Lizard with a clear head because he sees him as a friend.

He fought him on multiple cartoons before this one knowing he's fighting his friend, it caused tension, that's fine

The annoying thing is S.H.I.E.L.D agents defeating Lizard as they did, Stan with his broom, and Coulson's uppercut

I'm not seeing a problem. Coulson is awesome.

Exactly...

The sad thing is that we've had more character development of Coulson in a supposed "children's show" than his inclusion in all other media combined. I'm actually going to hold this standard against the new Agents of SHIELD.

I wonder if the ship of Coulson/May will end up being applied to either show...

Did they turn Stan By Me into the season finale or do we still get more before the third season?

It was like episode 18 of season 2 which is 26 episodes.

I don't think it lasted long enough to be considered better than Batman TAS. Had it not been cancelled, I do think it could have given it a run for its money though.

I find it ironic how they use the excuse that this is for kids, yet Spectacular Spider-Man was a way better starting point for those that don't know the characters, while Ultimate constantly introduces new heroes/ villains that most of the time are not fully explained.
