I'm going to watch John Carter today. What were your thoughts syed?

It's a far better film than I was expecting. I loved it, but it had a couple of pacing issues but overall it's a badass film. Once you get to this scene....pants will be Shatnered.

The more I think about this film, the more I love it.

Good to hear. I got hooked up so I'll be watching it in IMAX 3-D. It's good knowing losers who still work at the movie theater.

Does he fight that whole army himself? I might catch this at the weekend, but I have an unexplainable dislike for Kitsch.

Cool. Gotta admit that shot of him facing them down is cool. So what's the deal, is his "powers" explained in the movie? From what i understand he's stronger because he's evolved on a planet that has stronger gravity or something?

I like John Carter. Its better than what critics would have you believe I think.

I had only seen Taylor Kitsch in Wolverine and Snakes On A Plane before but thought he did a pretty good job as a leading man. He reminded me of a Kurt Russell a little when Kurt plays more stoic chracters like in Stargate or Soldier.

I watched The Awakened and thought it was better than The Women In Black.

Pretty much, some people say it's kinda like a reverse Superman in some aspects.

Mars has lower gravity than Earth so John Carter can jump large distances and is stronger than most martians (can kill with a single punch).

Basically like Superman in the early comics who's powers came from earth having weaker gravity than krypton so his more powerful than a locomotive and is able toleap tall buildings at a single bound as the saying goes.

John Carter and Supermans powers fit with the early 20th century populations views of planetary science.

Although they keep the natural warrior element of John Carter they seemed to of ditched the immortal element from the movie.

Well Marvel is bringing back Captain Marvel for the 77th time.

They should do a storyline where Genis-Vell and Hulkling hit him up for unpaided child support payments

I could see how Marvel could spin out some Cosmic based superhero movies from The Avengers if the villians are aliens.

Could be a good post Avengers direction for the studio.

It would be cool. But i can imagine after the complete bomb of GL and what John Carter's box office might end up like, space opera stuff might be put on the back burner.

Most space alien story lines bore me in the Marvel Universe so yeah, it might be a good idea if they kept things closer to home. :)

Marvels space storylines are like, the best things they've ever done. Annihilation is probably the best event Marvel has ever done. Maybe any comic company has ever done.

So John Carter was terrific. A lot of fun.

Saw it in IMAX 3D and the 3D was good, not TF3 great but better than I thought it would be.

Hopefully if they do a sequel, it should be called Virginia of Mars. :o
