I've noticed that people like to mock Californians whenever we complain about the cold because they assume it's 80 degrees 24/7 in this state.

It's been raining for about a week straight here. I work at a warehouse truck-docking area in the middle of the night, and it sometimes gets as low as 30 degrees. We get hail and fog. A lot of fog.

I don't care if it's below 0 Fahrenheit where you live. That doesn't mean my 40-something degrees is a hot day.
no, but it does make you whining about 30 degrees kinda sad:oldrazz:

30 degrees is cool. 10 degrees colder than perfect.

30 degrees is literally below freezing temperature. If water starts turning into ice, it's not "cool." It's cold.

And you know whats great for 30 degree weather? A leather jacket!

BL, I'm traveling to your house and I'm going to kidnap you and wrap you in leather jackets.

Here in Missouri we get really low temps, like yesterday we had 70 degree weather and then we got 30 today. Its ****ing nuts. This winter it was mostly in the teens.

i like my pea coat. i used to have a leather jacket that worked really well, but nothing beats the pea coat over a hoodie

Fahrenheit is bad and you should feel bad!

ugh....I hate these Can Am things...three wheeled pieces of crap, trying to pass them off as not being lame

it is also time for my regular recommendation of the fantastic film Good Night, and Good Luck

go watch it, you uneducated Philistines

LOL! Wow. They seem like a motorcycle with training wheels. I'd ride one, but I'd rather just ride a motorcycle with a sidecar, you can ride with me BL.

finally watching get low, you ever get the feeling that sometimes robert duval is just playing robert duval? still, if you're going to play yourself he's one of the more interesting selves to play.

I do not think we have hipsters over here so i do not really understand all the hate they get
We have hipsters. Go check out Shoreditch or Hoxton in east London.
Channel 4 did a sitcom called Nathan Barley back in 2005 which was all about mocking hipsters
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lhAr_UeroCk

There is also the hilariously tragic super super magazine (hipster bible) which has been published for years. Its well worth googling if you want a laugh :woot:

This is what a Hipster is from the Evening Standard newspaper article from 2004

What to wear
Girls: army jacket and cropped gaucho trousers or drainpipe denim, worn with coloured socks and battered trainers (Converse or vintage Nike) or round-toed heels. Jewellery made by your designer friends. Your hair should look as if you cut it yourself when you were drunk.

Boys: low-slung washed-out jeans, which cost about £200 from the new vintage Levi's shop on Newburgh Street, W1, but you tell people you picked them up on Brick Lane for a fiver. Obscure trainers that you can get only in Japan. A growing-out mullet haircut and a few days' facial hair growth. Never wear a Hoxton fin - they're so over.

Where to hang out
The 333 on Saturday nights; Hoxton Square Bar and Kitchen (so cool it doesn't even have a sign outside); Jaguar Shoes on Kingsland Road; the Bricklayer's Arms and the Red Lion, Tommy Guns hairdressers and the Jake and Dinos Chapman exhibition at the White Cube2 gallery.

Where to live
Luxe loft living is so Nineties. You need to live in a virtually uninhabitable warehouse (refer to it as a "shell"). It has no hot water or heating, but that will be your project for the next few years.

What to ride
A kid's BMX or a Chopper for getting about in Shoreditch, or a scooter for those rare trips out of the "ghetto".

Skinny Jeans don't exactly designate a Hipster.
I remember when the first picks of andrew garfeild as peter parker came out and people were saying he was emo/hipster because he wore fingerless gloves and skinny jeans.

his jeans were not even skinny they were straight fit jeans.

Its been bright sunshine for the last week in London and it has rained only about twice in the last month

I just spent 15 minutes talking to my mom who was very upset. She and the new husband were preparing for a food tasting for some food court owners with high hopes about opening a Mediterrenean food place in some high-traffic area (Arab guy was an executive chef/caterer in his heyday). My mom's a good cook by most peoples' standard but her food wasn't the issue.

The Food court guys gave her a last minute delay bit. Originally they were supposed to come around 1-ish with a party of 8 but they delayed everything to 5 with a party of 2. Needless to say, both of them were upset. Good food, time, money and effort gone to waste and not even a decent impact made.

I worry about her. My mother. She's a good as mothers come but she always wanted to strike out on her own. Real estate, insurance...a lot of stuff with heavy emphasis on sales and commisions when I felt her real place should have been in something more logistical. She's not lousy at business...but she's not terribly good at it either and I feel that's what crushes her a lot, how all her ventures don't seem to add up.

Having watched my father get rich only to lose it all to bad business and worst vices and my mother struggling to get back on her feet has beaten any ambition out of me. So what if I have to be just "a guy in a cubicle", at least its a job. I won't get the respect my father once had (only to disgrace himself and this household) but at least I'm not going to step on everybody just because I can and ***k around with the mentality of "I won't get caught, I too ***king smart to get caught." I can deal with being average...I guess.

I just wish God...Allah...whatever it is watches over us was kinder to my mother. She deserves her time to shine tooAnd she is religious, a good Muslim woman (for wahtever that is worth in this day and age) and never misses a day's prayer. And I hope those Food court ********s give her a proper chance. What the ***k kind of business are these clowns running anyway?!

Sorry for the rant guys. The talk with my mom dampened my mood today. And it was such a good start to the week end too...

Yeah Sandwraith lets hope she gets to show her skill with a proper chance instead of a wasted effort.
anyhow:
Battle of the Superheroes airs tonight! Batman vs. Superman!

Nice to see Miller's armored Batman receive a tribute! You can see also Superman's golden throne (Superdickery.com!) and i think they even tribute All Star Superman with Spiky Olsen, i mean it looks "kinda" like Olsen as Doomsday, but thats probably me being far fetched. Wouldn't be the first or second time the show tributes Grant Morrison's work.

Did anyone catch India V Australia last night? I knid of lost track of stuff after the 4th hour of play or so.

Cricket.

Mind-boggling.

It burns me that the last episode of Brava dn the Bold I saw here was the stupid Race episode which had Mongul forcing heroes and villains to race each other.

I really wanted to catch that Halloween episode and Zur-en-arrh ones....

Meh, I prefer cricket to baseball. But i haven't been following lately.
