At long last, silence!
The short of it is my computer has been abnormally loud for a few weeks now and I had enough and fixed it. Something so simple and stupid it should not have been an issue at all.
So I've been having trouble with my computer off and on for pretty much the entire year

cmad: 2016!) and that led to my computer finally dying. It was time to upgrade anyway so I replace virtually everything (mobo, cpu, hdd, gpu etc).
Then it starts to malfunction a few months later. Take it to the shop since I can't find anything obviously wrong and lack the diagnostic tools. Find out my power source is dying and the connecter to the graphics card for the power was also pulled loose making it mess up. The power source is about the only piece I did not replace, which hindsight, I should have.
End of the week, got it back and it was running, if a bit noisy. Few weeks go by and it keeps getting louder. I think it's the new power source fan making the noise. It also has a problem with not completely turning off sometimes. And I get warnings about my CPU's voltage being uneven (potentially very dangerous thing).
Finally today I just could not take it anymore and pulled my computer out from under my desk and opened it up, looked for what was brushing against the fan and nothing.
But it occured to me the fan on the side of the case was dead, it makes a loud grinding noise because the bearings are worn so it is no longer plugged in. I look at the rear of the computer, identical fan hooked up there, just as old (probably close to 10 years now) and unplug it. Take the desktop, monitor, mouse and keyboard to the kitchen and turn it on. Dead silence. The only fans not running are on the graphics card, which turn on once the computer finishes loading the OS.
That stupid fan was causing so much noise and concern but it is quiet now. So quiet in fact it is as disturbing as it is relaxing.
Lesson learned (again) is even the small stuff needs replacing occasionally or it will drive you mad.
