My 2 cents: Joaquin Phoenix should play Eddie Brock/ Venom. He is an awesome actor, and he deserves a role like Venom. He'd be hard to kill too! Anybody agree?

I voted "no" only because Eddie Brock should be in SM3 and "Venom" should be in SM4 or whatever.

That said, it looks as if "Venom" as a character might indeed be in SM3. Check it out:

IMDB can "report" Topher Grace is cast as Powdered Toast Man, for all of me. I don't care. I WON'T care until I see something on the official Sony website.

People who want to see Venom in Spider-Man 3, are people who must really HATE the character. With Sandman being official and Harry/GG2 storyline, Venom will have about 6 minutes or less of screen-time. I just can't believe how stupid some of you actually are, in wanting to see him so bad, that you are willing to see him molested to less than a cameo character.

If Sony/Marvel/Raimi are reading this, EDDIE BROCK should be featured and fleshed out, with the rivalry and hate between Peter/Brock/Spidey in mind--throughout Spider-Man 3 and 4, to ready him for Spidey 5. This is how you build a massive anticipation for VENOM, in which he deserves.

If sony knows what's good for them, they should introduce eddie brock in sm-3, just eddie brock mind you. Maybe hint towards the symbiote (i said hint), that way you can develop eddie brock. But since it's aiming towards gopher grace, i don't care anymore.

Eddie Brock is not going to get "fleshed out," you can forget that right now. We got 5 minutes of origin for each of Spidey's top two, most-important villains, yet some people seem to think we're going to get a 3-film buildup for Brock, regardless of who plays him.

This is NOT GONNA HAPPEN, you can take it to the bank. A complicated buildup would take too much screen-time away from Dunst and Aunt May making speeches about heroism. Brock will get his five minutes of origin-time, and you better like it.

Hey, thanx for responding at least. I really had no idea if that meant anyting to anyone at all (and no one was saying anything!). So... yeah, I figured the whole "if Sony didn't say it yet" thing applied.

Also, "Eddie Brock" should be in SM3 and "Venom" should come in later. I don't think the world is ready for "Venom" yet. Neither is the Movie Spider-Man Universe (opposed to the Ultimate or Amazing Spider-Man Universes).

Any of you think that Venom could be the main villain, and sandman is just there for a fight or two... I mean, I've never thought sandman was that cool of a character, i mean, he can turn into sand, wow.... But venom? Yea, i think that sandman is a throwaway villain, put in there to make fans happy, and venom is the real deal... maybe it's just me, but I dunno how enjoyable an entire 2 1/2 hour-long movie would be about a guy who can become sand... I dunno, he never showed up in the 90's cartoon, and I've seen EVERY episode of that show, and I don't feel cheated that he never apeared... Sandman just doesn't do it for me... And honestly, niether does Electro, especially after FF's Doctor Doom showed similar abilities, it'd just be a re-run... I dunno... I picture Spidey getting the costume, fighting sandman, then losing the costume, then brock getting it, then a major fight or two, maybe a wedding, and at the very end, maybe Harry dons a costume... I dunno, that sounds pretty damn good to me... Characters like Rhino and Sandman are a dime a dozen, and I can only see them as thugs who are temporarily in Spidey's way... Just my opinion....
